Chapter 4 Paging Dr. Phil

She called their dad. Of course he didn't pick up. She was livid.

"You're one sick son of a bitch to be sending us THERE of all places! Even Dean begged for your help! And you were hiding like a coward! Don't think I didn't notice your energy at Missouri's. pick up your damn phone and call us."
She hung up angrily.

"What did mom say to you?" Dean asked Alex. She was outside smoking again. She didn't sleep again.

Her jaw clenched. "I should forgive dad."

Dean looked at her.

"Will you?" Dean knew the answer that

"After that?" she snorted "No."

Dean looked from his phone. "Speak of the devil."

She looked over. Coordinates. He must have heard her voicemail. Coward. He was avoiding her.

"Typical." She sneered.

"What?"

"Sending us coordinates but no 'Hey I'm alive and well'"

Sam woke up. "What's going on?"

"Dad just sent us coordinates." Dean said typing in the computer

"What really? So he's alive?" Sam asked

"If you call that alive." Alex said Bitterly

"Well you knock it off?" Dean snapped at her

"Rockford Illinois."

"Whelp. You two go have fun. I'm out." Said Alex, gathering her stuff

Dean and Sam looked at each other.

"You said you wouldn't leave!" Dean said angrily

"I'm not going on a wild goose chase Dean!" she argued

"Alex, we can't do this without you." Sam begged

"Look. I agreed to help you find dad. That was it." "Clearly. He doesn't want to be found. But is willing to send his kids out on hunts. This is back to our childhood again." She said angrily.

"Alex we need you- please."

Her jaw clenched. "Once you see him I am out." She finished packing her bag.

Their case was at an Insane Asylum. She hated Asylums. They were always filled with spirit energy.

They ended up meeting Dr. Ellicot

"Why do I have to be the patient?" Alex argued she hated psychologists.

"Because maybe he can cure your bitchy attitude while you're at it." Dean said, Sam glared at him.

She glared at Dean. "Watch it. I'm still older than you."

She sat in Dr. Elliicot's office.

"Wasn't there another Dr. Ellicot?" she mentioned

He cocked his head to the side. "Yes my father. over at the Roosevelt Asylum. How did you know that?"

She smiled. "Must have read it somewhere."

"To my understanding from your brothers this isn't your fist time with a psychologist."

her jaw clenched. She didn't like this guy.

"You're my tenth one."

"I saw my mom die. I was 7. They were trying to get me to talk about it." She said, looking at the photo.
"So was there any odd occurrences in the south wing of the hospital?"

"You're avoiding the subject. And yes there was a riot."

"Your mother's death was a violent one?"

She didn't say anything.

"Your brother also tells me you have issues with authority."

She snorted at that. Of course he'd say that."

"Just our father."

The Dr. noticed her attitude change. "You have issues with your father?"

"Doesn't everyone?" She countered

"Not to levels where they want to physically harm them." the Dr said

Her jaw clenched again. She was going to kill Dean.

"Yeah well. A father who abandons his kids and leaves the oldest to fend for the other two doesn't exactly deserve the father of the year award."

"That must have been difficult. Raising your two brothers and not having time to properly cope." The Dr. said
She shrugged.

"He mentioned you have trouble sleeping and nightmares." Dr. Ellicot made more notes. "You have classic PTSD."

"PTSD?" she echoed

"It occurs when someone suffers traumatic experiences. Such as war, abuse, or a traumatic death." He explained
"Typically a person experiences flash backs to that experience. And has triggers from that event. They also have a flight or fight response. In your case. I'd say its both." He made more notes.

He proceeded to tell her about the riots and insane asylum.

She finally got out of the office. And she glared at Dean and stormed off.

"What?" Dean asked her, wondering why she was so pissed off.

"You told him Dean! That I have issues with authority? Really?"

"Well. You do!" Dean said

"Screw off Dean. Next time, you be the Rat." She snapped
"For the record, there was a riot in the south wing. It housed the insane and criminals. They attacked everyone, each other and staff." She said

"Any deaths?" Sam asked

"Yeah, staff and a few inmates. And some bodies weren't recovered including Dr. Ellicot."

Sam and Dean looked at each other.

"Now. If you excuse me. you two can go play ghostbusters, I'll go find the nearest bar."

She stormed out of the building.

Dean sighed in annoyance. "Told you she'd be mad." Said Sam
He gave his brother a go to hell look.

Alex found the nearest bar and started to drink. She fucking hated psychologists. She didn't want to remember. She didn't want to be fixed. Bless them for trying though. She took back a shot.

"Little early to be drinking isn't it?" It was Crowley

"What no poor soul to make a deal with today?"

"In between jobs at the moment." He said sitting next to her

"Rough day?" He asked her

She snorted. "If there are any psychologists in hell? Can I please have a go at them?"

Crowley winced. "Fraid not love."

"Freakin pricks try to pick at your brain." She took back another shot
"Is Dr. Phil on the list because if so I call dibs." She said to him

"Coincidentally. He is."

"Sweet. Dibs on him in ten years." She said darkly

"Mmm. Shame you're human. you would be a good crossroads demon." Said Crowley

"Well flattery will get you everywhere." She teased

She paused. "Had to go home." "Saw my mom."

Crowley got interested.

"She was still a spirit. The place apparently became a hub for the paranormal."

"Of course, most Demon related deaths are doorways." Said Crowley

"Anyway. Mom. She spoke to me."

"She told me to forgive dad." She said, gripping her glass tightly.

"And you won't." he asked her

"No. the bastard was there hiding the whole time." She gripped her glass and drank from it .
"Coward." She hissed
"Oh and this morning left us lovely coordinates to this location." She shook her head.

She stopped. "Everything is starting isn't it." She asked him.

"Fraid so love." Said Crowley

They sat in silence again. "You know if my brothers saw you here they'd flip right."

"Those two? couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag."

She snorted. Crowley left shortly after. She went back to the motel.

Sam and Dean were a little worse for wear.

"What the hell happened to you two?" she asked, she could feel the tense energy.

"Nothing. We got them. turns out that Dr. Ellicot was a little…less doctory?"

"Well. That confirms why I didn't like the bastard."

"We could've used your help back there Alex." Dean snapped. She reeked of alcohol.

"Yeah well. That's what you get when you use me as a freakin rat." Alex snapped back

Sam sighed.

"I'm worried about you Alex. You don't sleep and you want to kill our father!"

"Yes well. Having a mother die in front of you and a father who abandons you and leaves you to raise two kids will do that to you!" "Freakin diagnosed me with PTSD so thanks for that!"

Deans jaw clenched. "Whatever. I'm going out." He slams the door behind him.

Alex snorted and went to pass out on the couch.

The next morning Dean is passed out, Alex fell asleep on the couch and Sam wakes up to Dean's phone ringing. Alex wakes up as Sam takes it.

"Dad?" Sam asked, Shocked

Alex blinked. "that's dad?"

Sam nodded. She gritted her teeth. "Let me talk to him!"

"Sammy, is that you?"

"Dad, are you hurt?"

"I'm fine." John said

"We've been looking everywhere for you! Even Alex is here-"

"Sammy I'm all right-"

There was a pause.

"Alex is there?"

Dean woke up.

"Yeah. She's here." Sam said he put the phone on speaker.

"Alex-I'm so sorry. I know everything now. And I am-"

"You're a coward dad! You were freakin at Missouri's and never once said hi to us!" Alex said angrily

Sam and Dean shared a look. "What?"

"Alexandria- please try to understand. If you know what I know then you know why I'm doing this."

"Wait. You know what killed mom?" Dean asked

"And Jessica. Sammy I am so sorry about your girlfriend."

"Alex. I know I said somethings. And I am so sorry. But you guys have to stop looking for me"

"You finally found it right?" Sam asked

"Yeah, which is why I need you to stop looking for me."

"Then let us help you."

"Alex. I should have listened to you back then. And I didn't."

her jaw clenched.

"But you all need to stay out of this. this is so much bigger than all of you."
"Now. I need you to write down the names of these people."

Alex shook her head. More hunts. She grabbed her jacket and went outside.

Dean stepped outside. "We got a case in Indiana."

"You go." "I'm done playing his game." She hissed

"Alex- why do you hate dad so much?" Dean asked quietly.

"Because he left a 7-year-old alone with her two brothers after watching their mom die."

Dean flinched. "Alex-"

"I love you two. But Dad left me alone to care for you two and I didn't even-" She paused, letting the tears fall from her cheeks.

"I didn't even have a chance to freakin mourn her."

"Alex I am so sorry." Dean looked visibly upset. He never once saw her cry after the fact. She always put on a brave face for them.

"It's not your fault."

She looked at Dean. "You weren't a burden Dean. Neither was Sam." Dean rested his head on his shoulder.

"I don't think I ever thanked you for that did I?"

She hugged Dean. "You don't need to kiddo, that's what older siblings do."

"You going to stick around?" Dean asked her

"You two go. I'll track Dad down and kick his ass for you."

Dean looked sad but nodded.

They went their separate ways.
