Levi held her tightly until she finally fell asleep. He had felt her tears, after they had finished their sloppy lovemaking. Mikasa still loved him, but he didn't know if that would be enough. If it had been anyone else she would have not cared to give back their ring, but it was Eren. The brat that was the closest thing to family she ever had. It could mean possibly ending that relationship, all to be with him. Levi was not sure that she would be willing to sacrifice it for him.

He picked her up, and placed her gently on the bed. Before joining her for a few hours, unable to sleep. He wanted to enjoy the few moments they had before they were going to be forced to divulge everything. Before she may be out of his life forever. In a few hours all of the Military would be informed of his return. Questions would be asked, and if Erwin was correct they could face a lot of backlash from the MPs for strange circumstances that had occurred. He pulled Mikasa closer, pressing her body closer to him. She was the only thing that mattered, as well was one of the most painful parts of his life. But all of his happiness rested in her decision. Regardless of what the outcome would be, he would at least have the memories, and the knowledge that she loved him back.

If only he had been back a few years earlier, so much pain could have been avoided. If he had been able to escape captivity he could have been back before Eren was able to get a hold of her heart once again. She was everything to him, he would die for her if the option was given once more. His eyes shut with the memory of her almost getting killed by that titan all those years ago. It was like a nightmare that would constantly play in his mind from time to time. Levi could be forever grateful that he had been there to stop it. At least some of his decisions were the correct ones, and he was finally able to hold her once more.

Mikasa woke to find familiar arms enveloped around her. Holding her tightly close to him as if he never wanted to let go. Levi must have moved them to the bed during the night. Finally the true guilt of what had happened last night hit her. They had sex, last night. To her dismay the diamond ring still shun brightly on her hand, reminding her of the promise she had made to Eren. Guilt hung painfully in the room, but she couldn't help but feel happy that Levi and her made love. In 4 years she had not felt the way she had felt last night. That was not to say the sex she had with Eren was bad, it was just different. Emotionally she felt more connected to the Captain, but also he knew exactly how to make her body react. Maybe it was the emotional wall she had placed around her relationship with Eren that contributed to it. Levi however had torn down every wall he she had built to keep him out, even only after a few months Levi had managed to steal her heart. Even after 2 years, there were so many secrets she had kept from Eren. It would be impossible to ever explain everything. She had been wrong for keeping such a big part of her life from him, now she would have to endure his pain. Once everything was out he would surely cast her away. Romantically of course that did not matter so much, but even she couldn't say that she did not feel anything for Eren. Not the way she felt for Levi, but it was still romantic love.

Mikasa could not blame Levi for the way things played out, he made it back to her and that was all that mattered. If only he had been a little earlier, even a month. That ring would have never occurred. It would have been uncomfortable to break things off with Eren, but that promise would have never been made to him. She would not be bound to two promises, and of those only one she could actually keep.

She felt a hand gently rub her arms, "I can almost feel you overthinking, my love." A whisper that gave her shivers.

"I didn't mean to wake you," she turned around to face him.

Their eyes met once again, he gave her a humble smile as arms pulled her back in. "I can't believe you're really here, Mikasa." He reached up and pushed the hair away from her face. Adoring her with his sight, he always knew how to make her feel beautiful. She couldn't help but smile.

With her hand she caressed his chest, "I can't believe were together again."

"I don't want us to ever leave this room," he chuckled. Knowing how things would never be quite the same. He wanted to ask her a million questions, but he knew doing so might push her farther away. With some of the things she had inadvertently admitted, he was scared to impose anything, clearly she was an emotional mess. A state of mind he found himself in as well.

"I wish that was an option," her hand falling behind his neck pulling him down for a kiss. A tender kiss, that slowly gained momentum. She parted her mouth more allowing him to deepen the kiss. Those lips were like pure ecstasy to her, filling her head once more with a desire to continue and never stop. As the seconds passed their passion gained intensity, leaving both of them desiring more. They were both insatiable, cursed to always want more of the other. Eventually the consequences would have to be paid, because in this world nothing is ever as simple as it should be.

KNOCK KNOCK

"Captain Levi, your presence is requested by Commander Pixis and Commander Erwin." An unknown voice interrupted.

"Fuck," Levi wanted nothing more than to enjoy the woman before him. He never wanted to stop, when it came to Mikasa. She was his drug of choice, the only person that managed to make him go crazy, to lose control. He was angry but knew that this would eventually end.

"We should change," Mikasa whispered as she gathered the sheets. Her cheeks red, from the arousal.

The dining room was again adorned with the same wood paneling that had been present throughout the building. There were some scenic painting that hung with giant windows. And in the middle a large dark wood table, Commander Pixis and to his side Commander Erwin sat enjoying their breakfast.

"Ah Captain Levi, nice of you to join us." Commander Pixis greeted him. Levi saluted both men respectfully. They motioned for him to join them at the table.

He grabbed the chair and sat to the other side of Pixis, "Is there something that is wrong?" he could not help but have slight sense of bitterness.

"On the contrary Captain, we are just wanting to show you what we will be sharing with the rest of our civilians." Commander Pixis pulled out a newspaper and set it in front of the Captain. "We have taken the decision, to omit your capture from public knowledge. We cannot take the risk of civil unrest. Unfortunately your testimony does not give us much clue as to who it could've been. To create chaos is not favorable during these times."

"I admit, it will be difficult to get some resolution. But we will still continue to investigate Levi. The people responsible will face justice." Erwin added. "plus if they are hiding within the walls we cannot risk allowing them to escape."

"So what will be my story if I am asked?" Levi asked as his breakfast was set in front of him.

"We believe that our best chance is to have you not remember what has happened while you were away." Erwin said.

"We found you outside of wall Rose, your memory was gone. None of our doctors have been able to understand how, but the common consensus is that you had amnesia through a concussion you suffered outside of the walls." Pixis said as a matter of fact as he took another bite of his eggs. "We brought you back here, to work on your memory but alas nothing could be recovered."

"And you think that this will be enough to convince everyone. What about the MPs?" his voice sounded annoyed. Basically they had already taken his choice for him. The headline of the newspaper CAPTAIN LEVI FOUND ALIVE AFTER 4 YEARS.

"The military police will not be a problem," Pixis assured.

"We are not going to inform them of the full situation," Erwin explained. "They will get the same story as others, thanks to Pixis bringing you here they have just been informed with today's paper."

"We believe this is the best way to draw out your attackers." Pixis paused, "Now onto the next problem. Your fiancé a lovely woman, I must say. Can we be assured she will not speak of this. No one can know that this is a rouse, it could put in jeopardy all that we are trying to accomplish. I took the liberty of announcing your engagement as well, I expect an invitation to your wedding Captain. Such lovely woman could be snatched up if you are not careful"

Levi visibly choked on his coffee, "You published our engagement?" he knew that Mikasa had not yet informed Eren of anything. Part of him was glad, but he knew that Mikasa would not be so fond of what the Pixis had done. Surely Erwin would not have condoned it. He turned the paper to reveal a picture of both of them, with the headline 'Captain Levi Ackerman and Captain Mikasa Ackerman announce their engagement after reunion'.

"I did not know that was published too," Erwin said with a straight face. He too knew of the implications. The last thing he needed was for the Scout's titan shifter to go rogue with anger, specially not toward the strongest soldier.

"Well yes, everyone should be aware that our captains will soon be married," Pixis proudly said. "I've never seen such an in love couple, I know love when it's in the air. Even a grump such as yourself Captain, seem a lot more put together with her presence. Not to mention having her as a Fiancé will keep you protected as well if said captors show up"

Before Levi could interrupt Erwin chimed in "Captain Mikasa will not say anything," Erwin assured. Giving Levi a look before continuing, "For she will be in charge of readjusting you to the scouts." So this is his way of paying me off, it's not like Levi would complain about getting to spend time time with the lovely Mikasa. However Levi couldn't predict if Mikasa would actually accept especially now that their engagement would be known throughout the walls. Pixis and Erwin would surely experience her wrath, once she read today's paper.
