Every story has a beginning. This is my take on what happened before Thorin's company left the Blue Mountains to reclaim Erebor, before the sons of Durin met their fate. What if? What if Fili fell in love? Would it have changed anything?

Thorin and Thranduil really love each other, don't they? And they're going to love each other for ever and ever, right? And nothing and no-one can come between them, OK? Sorry, but in this story, Thranduil falls desperately in love with a woman. A woman? Yep. And if you don't believe me then just read on.

An elf that is outcast from her own people, the last of the House of Fëanor, is given sanctuary in Erebor until Smaug claims the kingdom. Gandalf enlists her and Bilbo to help Thorin Oakenshield reclaim Erebor.
