Fili and Kili have always been close, and some (Thorin) think they are too close. But while in the dungeons of Thranduil, Kili falls in love with Tauriel, an elf, their sworn enemy. Fili tells himself it is this fact that is causing his pain and anger. But it may be more than that.

Bilbo, for all the things he can write, is stuck with a terrible case of writer's block, one he is desperate to escape. Thorin is burdened with royal duties, only desiring a break. Never written fanfiction before, but Kili and Tauriel in The Desolation of Smaug were just too perfect. A short expansion on the scene where Kili almost dies and he and Tauriel have a moment.
