Chapter 46- Break IX

Everyone was in the dining room again, as the future version of the Wicca couple brought out some food for them with help from Harris, putting it down for them all to eat while they thought and then talked about what they had just seen. Of course there was a lot to be said about Dark Angel, or 'Dick Angel' to be more accurate, since that's what he felt like to all of them when they had seen it.

Buffy took a few bites of her food and said. "You know, if Angel had just been misguided and cynical, I wouldn't really mind what he did much."

Everyone listened as she continued. "Like, obviously, I wouldn't like what he did, and I wouldn't support it either, but I would still be understanding of it, and even feel bad for how things turned out that he went that way, you know, all dark and wanting to finish the mission."

"But?" Summers then asked.

"But it just doesn't feel like that, he's just being a total dick to people most of the time", Buffy said. "He fired his friends for caring about him, then he manipulated my friend Anne as well, and while Merl isn't a saint and does deserve beatings, its not necessary really."

"Yeah, his treatment of Merl is not necessary, though not undeserved either, but doing that does show he's falling, since he didn't unnecessarily beat people up either before", Dawnster spoke up in agreement. "But Merl did deserve it."

"Want to defend him, but yeah, right now, for what he did in these specific recordings, really can't", Rosenberg nodded in agreement, sad that Angel had fallen this far at one point.

"I mean, I don't want to judge, considering what I almost did", Willow said. "And I'm not going to defend myself either, but when I wanted to destroy the world, I was misguided and my logic was, well, it was a troll's logic, but that's what it was. With Angel, it doesn't feel that way, it feels different. He has just lost it all completely."

"Accurate description of what he's currently doing", Maclay said in agreement with a sigh. "He did go too far here for sure."

"But you say it starts getting better from next one onwards", Tara remembered. "Care to tell us why?"

"I think you should watch it for yourself", Harris told them. "But let's just say stuff happened that made him realize that the war he was trying to fight, it was pointless at the time."

"And it also made him realize he had been a dick to everyone for this entire time duration, when he realized that, it started getting better", Dawn explained from her own side.

"Then he tried to make things better with everyone?" Xander asked and got nods. "How did he make up with Cordy though?"

"Yeah, donating her clothes like that, easiest way to get on her bad side for like, well, forever", Willow said. "How did she ever forgive him for that?"

"It was actually not that hard", Summers said. "Though it took Angel a while to figure it out, and it took all of us a while to figure it out too as we were thinking what would Angel possibly do that would make her forgive him for what he'd done."

"I believe you will not tell us", Giles then said.

"Nope, we won't tell", Rosenberg shook her with a smirk. "It's better if you see on your own."

"Just tell me one thing, after Angel starts seeing sense again, there's not too much bad stuff to watch on their side for this year, is it?" Buffy asked. "Because right now, it's almost as bad as what we were facing in the same year, if not worse really."

"Oh after this it gets much, much better", Maclay said.

"Yeah, like imagine you're watching a TV show with a very dark tone in it", Harris said. "Like dark, dark, and dark. But then imagine once that is finished, you end up watching a different TV show which is kind of hilarious and light-hearted to watch, now that's what this felt like once the whole 'Angel being a dick' was done and finished with."

"Huh? Now I've more incentive to watch the remainder of this year", Dawnster quipped.

"Yeah, but beware, after the end of this year, it gets worse again", Summers said. "And it keeps getting worse and worse, till the thing we keep mentioning to you happened, which we could have stopped if we had paid attention earlier."

"Guess we will have to just enjoy the lighter stuff while we can", Tara sighed. "Because the bad stuff seems to be more important to watch really."

"It is, especially in Year 5, which hasn't fully passed, from your point of view that is", Rosenberg reminded them. "The stuff that happened in that year is what you truly need to change. The stuff before that, you need to watch to get a full understanding of how things ended up going that bad, and that can also give an understanding of how to fix stuff."

"But you won't tell us what it is just yet, will you?" Xander asked.

"We want to, but I think seeing it will have the deeper effect, and explain it better than words can", Summers said to him. "So this is what we will be going for, for a good long while as well."

"Since you're saying, we will keep watching till the end, don't worry, I get why it's so important", Buffy agreed. "I mean, I thought I knew Angel the best, but now I know I only knew one side of him, not this Angel we're seeing in these recording. And counting out his current dick phase, I like this Angel more than the one I knew."

"The one we knew was just a lovesick puppy, and so were we, this Angel is a Champion", Summers told her.

"Right", Buffy nodded, as the food was finally finished.

"Guess a little sleep is in order now", Giles said.

"Yup, we could all use some", Willow said as they got up from their places and started moving off to rest.

And they did, knowing next day would be hectic with what was to be watched.

Now with this break done, we finally move to the better parts of this Season.
