A/N: I decided to write this fic for many reasons (some are at the end of this story) but one of the main reasons is that I wanted to attempt serialized storytelling. This means I really want to practice making regular weekly posts for a story to challenge myself to make sure I'm able to make deadlines. So, this multi-chapter story goes up once a week every Thursday moving forward. I hope you will all enjoy it.

I'm trying to draw inspiration for this series mostly on the 90s Anime so no Manga. This means characters can be very abrasive at times.

Chapter 1: Her Story

The sound and feeling of the plane touching down roused Usagi from her nap. It had been two years but she was finally back in Tokyo. She was not looking forward to the return home but knew she wouldn't be in town long.

As the plane finished docking, Usagi gathered her belongings and made her way through the terminal. She pulled out her phone, switched off airplane mode, and waited for her messages to come through. As they appeared she began browsing through them.

Luna: I'm almost done with the first of the chapters you left. I'll have it all done when you get back.

Kobayashi: I put the rental car order in for you. It's under your name. Call me when you land so I'll know you are on your way.

Seiya: Good luck Odango. We'll meet back in Asahikawa.

A half smile formed on Usagi's face as she looked at the message from her boyfriend. She knew she'd be back home way before he was.

The Three lights had been swept up in the storm as K-Pop took over the internet. They had obtained a decent amount of fame all over the world. This meant they were popular and in near constant demand. For the first 2 years it was amazing. Usagi and Seiya had traveled the world and Usagi had been able to sample exotic foods and see incredible sights. Unfortunately due to his busy schedule Seiya couldn't join her as much as either of them would like. After the second tour around the world Usagi was sick of hotel rooms and being on tour busses. It was then the Three Lights decided to get a place they could always return to and bought a large mansion in Ashikawa they had christened "New Kinmoku."

New Kinmoku was nice. Too nice even. Between Taiko's belief they were too studious to lift a finger and Yaten's need to sleep most of the day away the place had staff for everything. A chef to cook meals, a maid to clean up, and a gardner to take care of the ground. Usagi was pretty sure if she asked properly someone would even wipe her ass. This pampered lifestyle had left her with an insane amount of free time. Especially as Seiya wasn't home often due to touring.

Luckily she had found something to occupy her time. She had been working on improving her art skills for years and finally she was able to achieve her goal, a manga of her own. She succeeded in winning a contest which transitioned into her having a weekly series in Kodansha. Seiya had been very supportive of her work. Yaten had been uninterested until Luna offered to help as Usagi's assistant. Then Yaten finally took notice. Taiki had asked what the purpose of it had been. "We could just finance a series if you wanted it."

This frustrated Usagi to no end. She wanted to have something to call her own in her life and not simply be known as someone associated with The Three Lights. If she wanted to be a kept woman she could have just…

Usagi shook the thought from her mind and focused back on the task at hand. She had returned to Tokyo to talk with her editor about where her series was going and to sign some paperwork. Usually she could do this work electronically but her editor asked her to come and do it in person. She didn't mind as she had left plenty of work for Luna to finish up until she got back. In her human form Her former guardian had a knack for the inking and cleanup work that came with creating a manga.

She dialed the editor, Mr. Koboyashi to let him know she had arrived. "Hello. Koboyashi-san."

"Tsukino-sensei," Mr. Koboyashi replied, realizing Usagi had arrived in Tokyo safely. "How was the flight? Have you got the rental car yet?"

"I'm just about to but I saw your message and thought I'd let you know I'll be in soon," Usagi explained as she arrived at desk for the rental cars.

"Alright, I'll see you soon," Mr. Kobayashi commented before hanging up.

The paperwork went quick enough and Usagi was handed the keys to her rental. After the first tour around the world Usagi had taken the time to get a universal license so she could operate a vehicle wherever she wanted so she didn't always have to wait for a car service or taxis to get around. This allowed her a bit of freedom to explore as she saw fit.

Once she found her car in the lot and threw her luggage in the trunk, Usagi got into the driver's seat and took a deep breath. She looked towards the passenger seat and the back seat. Once she realized she was alone she let her breath out and shifted the car into gear.

She drove straight to the Kodansha office, parked her car in the parking lot, and made her way to the lobby. She found her editor Kobayashi, waiting for her. He was a clean cut man with a thin build and round glasses. Usagi often thought Kobayashi could be Umino's long lost twin brother.

"Tsukino-sensei," Kobayashi welcomed her with a respectful bow. Despite how he had been her editor since the beginning he always had such a professional manner about him. "You look well. What are you doing to stay so fit?"

"It's easy when you don't snack a lot," Usagi admitted. One of the biggest adjustments to living with idols was the changes to her diet. Gone were the sweets she enjoyed, replaced with healthy snacks and protein shakes. Usagi fully intended to stock up on some of her favorite treats before getting back on the plane. "I even had a wonderful nap on the plane. Probably why I look so refreshed."

"Good, good," Kobayashi acknowledged. "Now I want you to put your game face on. The editor-in-chief is not in a good mood."

"Um, okay," Usagi gulped as she followed Kobayashi towards the elevators. The last time Koboyashi told her to be prepared, she had to do the cover of the new issue, get extras for her latest physical volume, and still deliver her weekly submission. It resulted in probably the worst week since her series launched.

They made their way straight to the editor-in-chief Mr. Kamiyama's office. Mr. Kamiyama was not known as being a friendly individual. In the few times she had seen him, whether in person or over digital meetings Kamiyama never smiled. Today was no exception as Usagi and Kobayashi entered his office and he looked as if someone had slashed his tires before coming into the office.

"Take a seat," Mr. Kamiyama instructed. Usagi and Kobayashi did as instructed. "I'll get straight to the point. Your series is cancelled and you have four installments to wrap it up."

"What?" Usagi gasped, unsure of how her series could be cancelled so easily. "But…how..."

"Frankly we've been having to do inventory on a lot of our series and see who has potential to continue," Mr. Kamiyama explained as he picked up a tablet and started to look at a document open on it. "Your series was generally well received but it just hasn't made much of an impact. We've had no offers from any of the anime houses for a series. You have no major social media presence or fanart. And given your origin, I've always thought Silver Moon Age would be the 1st to go if necessary."

"My origin?" Usagi asked, taken back by everything she was hearing. "I won your unpublished creator contest. It's a prestigious award your company has given out every year and some of your greatest talent has come because of it."

"True," Mr. Kamiyama agreed "But what ultimately resulted in us picking your piece as the finale was the circumstances at the time. We had you in the finals with two other pieces and were having a major negotiation with some advertisers. The agreement to pick you as the winner came because we were trying to obtain the rights for The Three Lights Essay contest away from another publisher."

"W-wait...wait," Usagi stammered, her eyes wide with shock. "Are you saying that the only reason my manga was selected is because I have a connection to the Three Lights?"

"Yes." Mr. Kamiyama stated. "Though I'm unsure of what your connection to them is. You haven't really made any mention of it on your social media. Which frankly I'm glad, I prefer our creators keep things simple. Previews of their work and food they like to eat. Keeps it simple, no need for drama or politics coming down on us. Similarly I'd appreciate you making any comment on your cancellation until we make a formal announcement."

Usagi felt sick to her stomach. Since venturing out on her own, cutting ties with her family and friends to be with Seiya, her manga had been her pride in joy. The only thing she had been able to achieve on her own in the last six years. Now she found out even this was given to her because of her connection to The Three lights. She felt worthless.

Usagi slipped into a daze as Mr. Kamiyama kept mentioning facts and figures about her physical and electronic books sales and how this had led to his decision. Usagi didn't hear any of it, the shock of the discovery had been too much. Before she knew it, the meeting was over and she and Kobyashi were back in the elevator together.

"I got you a room at the Crown Prince," Kobayashi explained as he helped walk Usagi back to the front lobby. "It will be better if you stay in town until we can brainstorm how we are going to move forward. The magazine will pay for it."

"Thank you Kobayshi-san," Usagi replied, barely able to think of anything more than the queasiness in her stomach.

"I'm so sorry for this," Kobayashi continued. "I had no idea he was going to fully cancel the series. I will do what I can but usually once Mr. Kamiyama's mind is made up, there is no changing it. Go back to the hotel, have a nice long bath, and we will figure out what to do tomorrow."

Usagi nodded and left the building. She made her way through the parking garage, found her car, and got into the driver's seat. Once the door was closed, Usagi slammed her fists on the wheel several times before leaning her head on it. Anger was more prevalent than sadness but Usagi still felt hot tears building in her eyes.

"Well...that could have gone better," A voice from her passenger seat proclaimed.

"You aren't real. You aren't real," Usagi commented as she kept her eyes closed trying to keep the tears from falling. She also felt a headache forming.

"Really?" The voice asked. "Because you are talking to me like I am real."

Usagi gritted her teeth, reached into her purse, and pulled out her phone. She called Seiya, not caring what time it was at his location. She needed to know if he knew about any of this.

"Yes?" A familiar female voice picked up. Usagi pinched the bridge of her nose, feeling her headache form and get worse.

"Hello Kakyuu-san," Usagi began, doing her best to disguise the distinct annoyed tone in her voice. "Is Seiya there?"

"He is in the middle of an interview," Kakyuu stated. No longer burdened by the role of being a ruler on her planet had quickly adapted to life on Earth. She had become the "manager" of the Three Lights. Usagi thought the term "Den Mother" was a better description of what she did. "I hope your trip was successful."

"Not really," Usagi groaned, leaning against her seat's headrest. "Could you just have him call me when he's free?"

"I will convey the message at the end of the day," Kakyuu replied. "For now Fighter has another interview soon after and a show to do tonight. I cannot have their performance upset."

"Excuse me?" Usagi spat through clenched teeth. "Forget this. Put Seiya on this instance."

"As I said he is occupied," Kakyuu reinforced. "I will inform him at his first free moment of your concern. Good evening Usagi-san."

Usagi roared and threw her phone on the floor of the passenger side. Her grip tightened on the steering wheel, the hot tears had fallen from her eyes, and her breathing was ragged.

"So you are back in your hometown and free as a bird. Time to live it up!" The voice announced, obviously not realizing Usagi was not in a pleasant mood. "Who should we call? Let's see. Can't be Minako because she's just going to say I told you so. Rei would just give you a hard time for running away from your responsibilities. Makoto will guilt you for leaving Mamoru especially because she's always had his back and Ami will want to back up her wife. Naru has those twins now so she won't be able to drop everything just because you're back in town and your world is crumbling around you. And the last time you even talked with your mom you called her weak and pathetic."

"SHUT UP!" Usagi screamed as she looked at her passenger seat. Sitting next to her was a woman in a familiar Sailor Fuku, with red boots, and white gloves. There was no mistaking it was Sailor Moon with a smile on her face like she didn't have a care in the world. "You are just a figment of my imagination! You don't know anything."

"I know everything," Sailor Moon insisted, a wide smile still on her face. "I'm you after all."

Usagi dug through her purse until she found a small container in the bottom. She opened it, put three pills from it in the palm of her hand, and popped them in her mouth. They were difficult to swallow without anything to drink.

"Not using the recommended dosage I see," Sailor Moon mentioned as Usagi started the car. "Of course they're not prescription so they don't come with instructions."

Ignoring the hallucination of her former self, Usagi made her way out of the parking garage just as it started to rain. She quickly prayed there would be no thunder until she made it to the hotel. As she followed the car's GPS instructions to her hotel, the rain picked up in intensity. The wipers were on high but she could barely see out of her windshield. She wanted to get to the hotel as soon as possible. She picked up speed to make a yellow light but found it turned red before she could cross. Reacting, Usagi slammed on the brakes but the water on the road caused the car to hydroplane through the traffic light and into incoming traffic. Her car was struck on the passengers rear, causing the vehicle to spin out of control, and slam against a light pole.

Usagi was unconscious from the impact. She didn't hear the rain as it continued to pour on her car, the sound of the Ambulance siren, or the voice of a man screaming "USAKO!"

A/N: The major inspiration for this story came from the idea of thinking "If Seiya and Usagi did date, Seiya would be an idol which wouldn't be easy for their relationship." I will also be employing a few other ideas I've been thinking about fanfiction plotlines which seem a bit overused.

I'm surprised no one has ever employed Princess Kakyuu as a cockblocker/obstacle to the relationship between Seiya and Usagi. Most stories I've seen seem to show her having absolutely no problem with Seiya leaving her service and starting a relationship with Usagi. This majorly contradicts with the fact that as soon as their Princess is back the Sailor Starlights are ready to leave the planet. Of course if this does happen often with Seiya/Usagi stories let me know how wrong I am.

Thanks to my crew for helping with the betaing.
