''But- Lady Artemis please'' I pleaded

''What's done is done'' she sighed '' I had my lieutenant pack your bag, you will leave now''

I'd only been a hunter for maybe ten months, but they were the only family I had. I finally found a home and now it will be taken away, like a rug pulled out from under me.

Phoebe, I couldn't leave her, she was my best friend, she saved me. Just then Thaila entered the tent with a bag slung over her shoulder.

She knelt ''Lady Artemis''

''Thalia will escort you to camp half-blood, and I've already explained our situation to Chiron. You must go now before everyone wakes, and Thalia, be back as soon as possible ''

''Yes m'lady'' Thaila said ''come on Sam, it's not as bad as it seems'' We left the tent. All I could think of was Phoebe, I needed to see her, I needed to explain. I finally got her to like me, to trust me, and now I was leaving her. Some best friend I am.

''Thaila, please I need to say goodbye to Phoebe.'' I begged ''Just one minute''

''You get thirty seconds''

I ran into our tent, standing over her. I whispered ''I love you Phoebe. I'm so sorry'' a tear trickled down my cheek as I recounted our adventures together.The day we first met, she saved my life.

''Loser'' she snickered, punching me in the face again and again. It felt like slow motion as I fell from the bridge, plummeting into the river below. The air leaving my body as I sunk deeper and deeper into the water, I nearly blacked out when a girl grabbed my wrist.

I gasped for air as I reached the surface. My saviour was a young red headed girl about my age ''Thanks'' I gurgled, spitting blood from my mouth.

''Your welcome, I'm Phoebe by the way'' she said, pulling me to the river bank. Immediately she started checking my head wounds.

''Times up'' Thaila remarked, jolting me back to the present. I wiped a tear from my cheek and ran off.

We reached camp in no time, Thaila and I mostly walked in silence. We crossed the border of half-blood hill just as the sun was coming up.

''Thaila, my dear it's good to see you again'' said a man in a wheelchair '' and you must be Samantha, welcome my dears, I am Chiron, the camp activities director''

He led us into the big blue victorian house and gestured for us to sit.

''I must admit this is a quite unusual situation, but welcome to camp half-blood'' he paused '' do you know of your godly parentage my dear?''

''No'' I said, honestly I didn't even know who my 'mortal' parent was.

"I see, well we'll get you set up in the Hermes cabin for now but you should be claimed soon"

We talked about all the boring blah blah blah rules and what not, when a bright looking blonde kid entered the house. He looked a lot like Apollo, Artemis's annoying twin brother. Apollo came to see us quite a lot actually, I don't think he'd ever admit it but he just likes seeing his sister.

''Samantha this is Will Solace, from the Apollo cabin'' Chiron said '' Will, would you mind showing her around?''

I knew it, of course he was an Apollo kid

''Sure, follow me right this way'' he sounded like a pro tour guide, I'm guessing Will gets asked to show new kids around a lot.

He showed me the lake, the armoury, the dining pavilion and then the forges.

''And this is the forges-'' ''come on, shake your body do the conga'' a sweet voice sang

and of course I had to join in, I loved that song ''know you can't control yourself any longer''

A girl maybe 15, in welding gear turned to face me, she removed her face shield. With a big grin on her face, she continued to sing. ''Come on, shake your body-''

''-baby, do the conga''

''I'm Nyssa and your are?'' Looking at Will she asked ''A new Apollo kid?''

''We're not sure yet'' he said '' I didn't even know she could sing''

''Aw thanks guys'' I said turning up Nyssa's music ''I like you, I think we're gonna be great friends'' I took her hand and spun her around, dancing to the music. ''I'm Samantha by the way, you can call me Sam''

Will just laughed, ''Come on Sam I'll show you the rest of camp, then we'll go cabin 11''

I winked and blew Nyssa a kiss ''see ya around'' she just smiled and waved.

''Wow'' Will whispered ''I haven't seen Nyssa smile like that in a long time''

I just smirked.

Will led me to a group of the most wild and amazing buildings I'd ever seen, the first two look so regal and up tight, like nobody ever went in them. The third was obviously Poseidon, forth was Demeter, it was beautiful and covered in plants. Maybe my mom was Demeter, she was pretty cool. The Apollo cabin stuck out like a sore thumb, it was so shiny I almost blinded myself.

''I know, sometimes it's hard to look at because of the sun, but other than that it's a really nice place'' Will said, like he was reading my mind.

''How did you... know what I was thinking'' I asked. I probably sounded stupid.

''I'm good at reading emotions'' he answered '' here we are, cabin 11''

The Hermes cabin was probably the most normal looking cabin of the twenty or so. It looked almost like a regular old summer camp cabin.

I whispered to Will as we walked in ''Cozy''

We were greeted by two elvish looking boys, who might've been twins? I wasn't sure.

''I'm Conner, and this is Travis'' Conner said holding out his hand

Reluctantly I shook it.

ZAP

''Ow'' I mumbled

''These are your head counsellors for now'' Will laughed running out the door ''Good luck''

''So claimed or unclaimed'' Travis said, holding out his hand.

''Unclaimed'' I shook his hand with ease, then twisted it around and flipped him on his back.

Conner looked at me, looked at his brother on the floor and burst out laughing ''Oh and I'm pretty good at pranks to, so watch it Conner" I said smiling

He looked back at Travis ''Can we keep her?"

"Are you sure you're not a Hermes kid? ''

''Maybe, I don't know''

I grabbed a bunk that looked empty and started unpacking. I laid out my sleeping bag and pillow, then tacked up some pictures of me and Phoebe. Oh and Thaila , even though Thaila is a traitor who sided with Artemis. But I missed her too.

Conner looked at one of my photos and frowned.

''What?!'' I demanded

''That girl, the redhead one she's a hunter''

''Yep and she sends her love, or hate, honestly I don't think she likes you guys'' I laughed

''You were a hunter?'' Travis asked ''why'd you leave''

I could feel tears running down my cheek, my face was turning red ''I-I didn't want to'' I sputtered as more tears rolled from my cheeks. Surprisingly they didn't laugh or make fun of me, instead I was embraced into a hug, as two sets of scrawny arms wrapped around me.

'' It's gonna be okay, we'll take care of each other'' Conner said ''your apart of our family now''

Travis smiled ''Yeah once a Hermes kid, always a Hermes kid. Just wait till you meet the others.''

Conner looked at him '' but right now I think you could use some cheering up'' he winked and slipped me a can of silly string. Bad move on his part, I covered Conner in silly string.

He chuckled ''you were supposed to spray Travis not me''

''Yeah well I needed pay back from early and you just handed me a golden opportunity''

''Spoken like a true Hermes kid'' Travis laughed, spraying me with silly string.

The rest of the afternoon, they decided to cheer me up by letting me help them pull a prank on the Ares kids. To be honest I think they just wanted my expert opinions but it did cheer me up a bit.
