Hello all Storm here with a new story! Yes another new story, but it's one I'm very excited about and hope you all will enjoy it, I'm sure you can see what it's about just from the title. So, without further ado.
I own nothing
'This place…it's actually starting to feel like…home.' Thought Andromeda Jackson as she made her way back to Cabin Eleven with the rest of her new cabinmates.
The girl being thankful for the chance to finally go to sleep, still feeling her head spinning with everything that's happened and everything she's learned today. Her mind drifting to when this all started, after she came home from Yancy Academy, the most recent school she'd been expelled from.
Having had to deal with her stepfather, Gabe Ugliano, or Smelly Gabe as she called him, but also got the chance to see her mother, Sally Jackson, again. Even better when Andromeda learned that they'd be taking a trip to Montauk, where they'd been going since she was a baby. Which was also where her mother had met her father, who she'd originally been told was lost at sea.
Now though, Andromeda knew the truth, or at least part of the truth, as it had been during the first night in Montauk when her best friend, Grover Underwood, who she also learned is a satyr, arrived. The next thing Andromeda knew, she and Grover were being driven by her mother through a storm to an unknown destination. Only learning that it was some camp her father had wanted her to be sent to, something her mother didn't want as it seemed to mean she'd never see her again.
Though things got worse when something hit their car, something that turned out to be the Minotaur from Greek Mythology. The three of them had tried escaping, only for Grover to be injured and Sally being…Andromeda didn't want to think about it. With the girl only remembering feeling anger and power flow through her before jumping on the Minotaur and break off one of its horns, before killing it by stabbing it in the chest, causing it to disperse into golden dust.
After that, Andromeda had dragged Grover up to the big farmhouse her mother told her to go to, only to pass out the moment they reached the porch. Before she woke up three days later and got even more shocking revelations about everything that happened.
Learning that not only were the gods and goddesses that she learned about are real, but that she was in Camp Half-Blood, a safe haven for their demigod children. And the directors of the camp were Dionysus the God of Wine, Madness, Theater, and Parties, or Mr. D as everyone calls him. Who Andromeda personally thought looked like a cherub, who grew up in a trailer park, but figured it'd be better to keep such thoughts to herself. While the other Camp Director was her former Latin teacher at Yancy Academy, Mr. Brunner, only for him to reveal he was really Chiron, the centaur and trainer of heroes.
Andromeda had wanted to deny any of it was real, that she was hallucinating or dreaming, but was unable to do so with all the proof she was being shown, before Chiron took her around camp. Leading her to the cabins where the demigods stayed, with there being twelve cabins for the Twelve Olympians. With Andromeda learning she'd be staying in Cabin Eleven, the Hermes' Cabin, where all unclaimed demigods resided due to Hermes being the God of Travelers.
Which is where she met Annabeth Chase, a daughter of Athena, and Luke Castellan, a son of Hermes and Head Councilor of Cabin Eleven. Leading to Andromeda being given a tour of Camp Half-Blood by Annabeth, with Andromeda having gotten frustrated whenever she wouldn't give her a straight answer to any of her questions. Along with acting like she should know everything already, despite how Andromeda was only just learning about everything, today.
Things only got worse when they encountered Clarisse La Rue, a daughter of Ares, who had come to "initiate" Andromeda by shoving her head into a toilet. Only for Andromeda to somehow cause the toilets to erupt and hit Clarisse, her siblings, and Annabeth unintentionally, with jets of water. All while she somehow remained perfectly dry, even the ground around her not being touched by the water.
Luckily, the tour had continued uninterrupted, aside from the rest of the campers pointing and staring at them, with Annabeth still soaking wet. Allowing Andromeda to learn some new information, including the fact that Mount Olympus was located above the Empire State Building and the campers are able to visit it. As well as that something seemed to have been stolen, resulting in the gods now fighting each other over whatever it was.
Afterwards, Andromeda had then been sent back to Cabin Eleven, where she met Luke, learning how he was the last person to go on a quest. Only for it to end badly, resulting in no one being allowed to go on quests. But before she could learn more, they'd all left for dinner. Learning that they also made offerings of food to the gods because they liked the smell, and Andromeda could see why when she smelled the burning food herself.
Once everyone had finished eating, with Mr. D announcing a Capture the Flag game on Friday night and introducing Andromeda to the rest of the camp. Mispronouncing her name as "Alice Johnson" before Chiron corrected him. The day ending at the amphitheater, where Apollo's Cabin lead a singalong and everyone at s'mores. With Andromeda now starting to feel good about being at camp, feeling like she was now home.
Now though, she was relieved for the chance to get some sleep and rest after today, wanting the chance to be able to process everything.
But the moment Andromeda entered Cabin Eleven, her eyes widened when rather than seeing the inside, she suddenly found herself back at the amphitheater.
"What just…" Andromeda muttered in shock and confusion, knowing she'd been walking with the others back to the cabin, yet was somehow back here.
"Sorry about that, I just wanted the chance to talk without anyone listening in or staring." Said someone, making Andromeda immediately turn to face whoever it was.
Seeing a thirteen-year-old girl with long golden blonde hair with black highlights tied into pigtails, pale skin, three whisker-like markings on her cheeks, and bright, cerulean eyes. With her attire consisting of black boots that went halfway up her calves and something sticking out of her right boot, grey stockings, black short shorts with a dagger strapped to her right leg, a white button-up shirt, and a short-sleeved black leather jacket. Andromeda also noticed a two black leather necklaces around her neck, held together by a silver ring with a blue lightning bolt hanging from it.
Andromeda vaguely recognized her from Cabin Eleven, having spotted her reading a strange looking purple book with gold edging and designs. Along with at dinner and the campfire, sitting with a few other kids. As well as noticing how Annabeth would sometimes flash her a stink eye, which she would return with her own glare. As well as how Luke would sometimes nod and wave at her, which she would return, but not really make an effort to talk to each other.
"Uh…who are you?" Andromeda asked, feeling a little wary at the unknown camper, given what happened with Clarisse and her siblings.
"Naruko Uzumaki, pleasure to meet you." Said Naruko, standing up before holding her arms out and giving a light bow, while also looking Andromeda up and down, getting her first look at her.
Andromeda was twelve-years-old with long black hair that changed to violet tips at the bottom, pale skin, and large sea green eyes akin to emeralds. And wearing a dark blue long sleeve jacket over a gray hoodie, a violet t-shirt underneath, a blue skirt that hid her black sport shorts and lastly violet socks, worn under a pair blue and white running shoes.
"Okay…um, I'm Andromeda Jackson." Andromeda replied, relaxing at seeing that Naruko wasn't going to try anything.
"Oh, I know who you are, aside from Mr. D introducing you, the rest of the campers are already talking about you. The girl who killed the Minotaur and knocked Clarisse down a few pegs, I even heard a few start calling you Supreme Lady of the Bathroom." Naruko said with a smirk, making Andromeda blush in embarrassment at the nickname.
"I-I really have no idea h-ho-how I did that, I sw-swear!" Said Andromeda, with Naruko shrugging at her.
"I wasn't going to ask how, since it's pretty obvious it's a power you inherited from your father." Stated Naruko, with the ravenette nodding slowly as that did seem like the obvious answer before she looked at Naruko curiously.
"Do…do you know who my dad is?" Questioned Andromeda, wondering if Naruko had any idea who her father is.
With Naruko remaining silently before walking up to Andromeda and began circling her, making her feel a little nervous, until the Uzumaki right in front of her.
"Do I know who your father is exactly? No. But the fact you're Hydrokinetic does help narrow things down. Follow me." Naruko said, walking past Andromeda and motioning her to follow her, the ravenette doing so with a confused expression.
The two soon finding themselves back at the cabins, Andromeda yelping when she saw three large, bird-like creatures flying in the air above them.
"Ignore the harpies, they can't see or smell us right now." Said Naruko, making Andromeda look at her in confusion.
"Harpies?" Andromeda asked, with Naruko simply nodding.
"Uh-huh, the Cleaner Harpies, Aello, Celaeno, and Ocypete. They're the ones that do the dishes, along with eating any demigods that are out at night. But like I said, they can't see or smell us right now." Naruko replied, with Andromeda paling at hearing they eat demigods who are out at night, but was relieved they couldn't see them.
Though this also confused the ravenette, wondering how Naruko was able to keep them hidden, along with remembering how she made it seem like she went back to Cabin Eleven with everyone else. Before shaking her head, wanting to wait before asking any more questions.
"So…any ideas on who my father may be?" Questioned Andromeda, wanting to know if Naruko had any guesses on who her father was.
"He's definitely a god of water, probably one of the stronger ones, given how powerful your Hydrokinesis seems to be. That thing with the bathroom, has that ever happened before? As in water suddenly coming alive and lashing out at someone?" Naruko asked while glancing at Andromeda, who nodded slowly.
"Uh…once, on a field trip. There was a girl bullying my friend Grover, he's a satyr, and I got angry, causing the water from a fountain to suddenly jump up and grab her, pulling her in." Andromeda replied, leaving the Uzumaki in thought.
Though Andromeda did notice how Naruko had perked up, the moment she mentioned Grover.
"And your mom, where did she meet your dad?" Naruko asked, causing Andromeda to frown sadly at the mention of her mother.
"They…they met at Montauk, she told me that he was…lost at sea. The only memory I really have of him was as a baby, I could remember his smile and a hand on my head, but it all seemed like a golden glow." Said Andromeda, only to be confused when Naruko sighed and dragged a hand down her face.
"Well, if you're lucky, you might be a daughter of Triton since he's one of the strongest gods of water in the Greek Pantheon, with the exception of his father." Naruko stated after a few moments, since the more powerful minor gods and goddesses that were affiliated with water tended to be the children of Poseidon and Amphitrite.
"Okay, I'm sure you have plenty of questions of your own, go ahead and ask." Said Naruko as she went over and sat in front of the hearth, with Andromeda sitting beside her.
"How about starting with what you did earlier. How did you make it seem like I returned to Cabin Eleven? And how are you hiding us from the harpies?" Questioned Andromeda, wanting to know how she did that.
"By manipulating the Mist, it's a supernatural force that helps hide monsters, gods, demigods and other supernatural occurrences from mortals. I'm sure you've seen things that aren't normal and have tried telling people about them, only to dismissed. That's the Mist at work. Where you'd see water coming alive and pulling someone into a fountain, the Mist would make it seem like you pushed them in. But there are a select few mortals that can see through the Mist, they're known as Clear-Sighted Mortals. While demigods and mythical creatures can always see through the Mist at most times, it can be strong enough to fool even demigods, which is what I did. Making you and everyone else think you were returning to your cabin, when you simply were walking in place." Naruko explained, much to Andromeda's amazement at what the Mist can do, as well as the fact she's actually getting a straight answer and explanation.
"And you can control the Mist? Can other demigods learn to do that?" Andromeda asked, knowing how useful it'd be to manipulate the Mist.
"Yeah, any demigod can learn to control the Mist, but it takes time and training. While me and my siblings all have an innate talent to manipulate the Mist, thanks to our mom." Replied Naruko, getting the ravenette's interest.
"Your mom? Your godly parent?" Questioned Andromeda, the Uzumaki nodding with a small smile.
"That's right. Allow me to introduce myself, Naruko Uzumaki, Daughter of Hecate, Queen of the Witches and Goddess of Magic, the Mist, Crossroads, Necromancy, Ghosts, Night, and the Moon." Naruko said proudly, while Andromeda looked at her with wide eyes, only to gain a confused expression.
"Goddess of the Moon? Isn't that Artemis?" Andromeda asked, knowing that much, only to wince when Naruko's smile vanished and was replaced by a scowl, with her eyes glowing green.
"Only because people kept mistaking her for Selene or my mother, that's the only reason she's known as the Goddess of the Moon. Not like it'd matter anyway with daddy dearest." Retorted Naruko, muttering the latter part bitterly, confusing and worrying Andromeda at her apparent dislike for the other Olympians.
"W-well…what can do being Hecate's daughter?" Questioned Andromeda to change the conversation, relieved when Naruko perked up.
"Well, obviously I'm able to naturally use magic, but I still need training and practice as while I'm naturally aligned to it, magic is a difficult skill to learn. I also have Umbrakinesis, allowing me to Shadow Travel. I have some talent in Necromancy, but nothing like being able to revive the dead, but enough to send anything dead back to the Underworld. All my powers are also at their strongest at night or in dark places, given mom is a Night Goddess. I'm able to get visions of the future as well, something I inherited from my great-grandfather." Naruko explained, amazing Andromeda at all her abilities.
"Your great-grandfather? Is he a demigod too?" Andromeda asked, wondering what a demigod descended from another demigod would be like.
"No, he's my mom's grandfather, a Titan. Specifically, Koios the Titan of Farsight, Foresight, Intellect and Knowledge, as well as the Titan Lord of the North. He was the most intelligent Titan and was able to accurately predict the future, he could ask the sky questions and be whispered answers. It's an ability that made all his siblings frequently ask him questions about the future, even Kronos went to him for answers. And I inherited the same ability, though not to the point where I can ask the sky questions and get answers. They're also limited to the near-future and can come randomly at times, not that I'm complaining. Though, I have been learning to utilize my foresight at will, either by touching a person or object, as well as through the Mist or in the stars. The latter coming from my other great-grandfather, Krios, Titan of Stars and Constellations, and the Titan Lord of the South." Replied Naruko, surprising the ravenette again.
"Wow. Do the other children of Hecate have that ability?" Questioned Andromeda, with Naruko shaking her head.
"As far as I know, I'm the first of Hecate's children to inherit the ability. But…I'm not the only descendant of Koios to inherit it, there's also…the Sun God." Naruko said with her annoyed scowl coming back.
"The Sun God? Apollo?" Andromeda said, with the Uzumaki grunting and nodded.
"Yes, him and his sister are Leto's children, Leto is Koios's daughter, making Hecate her niece and their cousin. Apollo inherited the same gift to see the future, but he can't reveal anything he's seen, as then it'd make the future events obsolete. Though I doubt he'd care and simply go chasing whatever mortal catches his attention." Naruko said, with Andromeda looking at her with a frown.
"You…don't seem to like the Olympians, do you." Andromeda stated, after seeing how she's talking about Artemis and Apollo, she doubted that Naruko had a good opinion of the rest of the gods either.
"Why would I? What have the Olympians ever done for me, for any of us? You saw the kids in Cabin Eleven, all those who are unclaimed, waiting for a sign from parents that don't give a damn until they have a use for their children or have "proven themselves worthy" enough to be recognized as their child. And that's just the Olympians. The children of Minor Gods and Goddesses don't even bother hoping to be claimed." Said Naruko, making the ravenette's frown deepen.
"Why wouldn't they want to be claimed?" Andromeda asked, only for Naruko to motion to the cabins.
"Look around, do you see a Hecate Cabin? Tyche? Nike? Hebe? Persephone? Eris? There are dozens of Minor Gods and Goddesses, but only twelve cabins, and why? Because the Olympians are the only ones that matter as far they're concerned. Any demigod of a Minor God or Goddess that is claimed, it doesn't matter since we'd still be stuck in Cabin Eleven, the only difference is now we know our parents aren't being honored. But a Son of Apollo, a Daughter of Aphrodite? They're welcomed by their siblings; they get to know they're important enough to have a cabin to stay in. But those like me and my siblings, we're the nobodies." Naruko said bitterly, her words only causing Andromeda's frown to deepen further.
"But…what about the empty cabins? Couldn't you all stay in one of them?" Questioned Andromeda, only for Naruko to scoff.
"Cabin Two is Hera's Cabin, it's just made to honor her since she doesn't have demigods. I don't know why, after all the times she's been cheated on and how at this point, adultery is basically part of marriage. And Cabin Eight is Artemis' Cabin, which is also honorary, the only times it's used is when the girl scouts, aka the Hunters of Artemis, come to camp." Replied Naruko.
"What about Cabin Two and Three?" Andromeda asked since those were empty as well.
"Zeus and Poseidon, they're meant to be empty." Naruko said, confusing Andromeda at her wording.
"Meant to be?" Repeated Andromeda, making Naruko sigh and drag a hand down her face.
"If I'm going to explain that I'll need to explain the Big Three. Have you heard of them?" Questioned Naruko, with the ravenette nodding in response.
"Yeah, Annabeth and Clarisse mentioned them, how I couldn't be Big Three material? Were they talking about Zeus, Poseidon, and Hera?" Andromeda said, given they were the first three cabins, only for Naruko to shake her head.
"When we say Big Three, it means Zeus, Poseidon and Hades, the Sons of Kronos and most powerful gods here. Power that their demigod children inherit. Even without training, a child of the Big Three possesses unrivalled power and potential, but that also makes them important figures in the world and can alter the fate of the world just by existing. They're simply too powerful for anyone to rival, which also makes them dangerous, causing too much carnage and destruction. World War II was fought between their children, the sons of Zeus and Poseidon on one side, the sons of Hades on the losing side. After the war ended, Zeus and Poseidon forced Hades to make an oath on the River Styx, the most important oath someone can make. With it being that they wouldn't have any more demigod children, no more affairs with mortal women." Naruko explained, confusing Andromeda at why such an oath was made.
"Why would they do that? I mean, besides their children affecting things too much. But why then? Why not sooner?" Questioned Andromeda since if they were really worried about their children affecting the world so much, why wait so long.
"Because now it would affect them. Near the end of the war, the Oracle of Delphi gave a prophecy that the next child of the Big Three to reach sixteen-years-old would be responsible for saving or destroying Olympus. So, they tried to ensure the prophecy never came to pass, they made the oath for no more demigods." Naruko said while shaking her head, knowing how foolish it is to try and stop a prophecy from being fulfilled, it'd only become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
"…I'm guessing the oath wasn't kept." Andromeda stated, having learned one thing from mythology, it's that the gods and goddesses weren't known for their restraint whenever they're attracted to someone.
"Nope, Zeus broke it seventeen years ago, some TV star with one of those stupid eighties hairdos. But because he's immortal, he got off easy, the kid…not so much." Naruko replied, making Andromeda frown.
"But it wouldn't have been their fault, they didn't get to decide who their parent is." Said Andromeda.
"Doesn't matter, you can never break on oath when Styx is involved. She may not be able to make gods pay for breaking their oaths, but she can target their children. It's not fair, but when has anything with the gods ever been fair?" Said Naruko, the ravenette looking down at this, knowing it was true with the legends she's heard about the gods.
Anyone who got on their bad side was lucky, if they were simply killed.
"What…what happened to the kid?" Andromeda asked, while also wanting to know what happened to the child of Zeus.
"You passed her, the moment you entered the camp. I'll give you the full story, later." Naruko said as she pointed to the pine tree at the very tip of Camp Half-Blood, much to Andromeda's shock.
"But you've probably got enough shocking news. If you have any more questions, you can ask them tomorrow." Naruko replied, much to Andromeda's annoyance before she yawned as her exhaustion caught up to her.
"Alright, no more questions tonight, but I will have a lot more just so you know. Though…thanks for telling me all this Naruko, you're the first person here that's given me completely straight answers." Said Andromeda, thankful at finally getting actual answers, instead of just being expected to know everything or simply being told nothing.
"Glad I could help, and if you ever need something cleared up, I'm here. And don't worry about anyone hearing you enter the cabin, I made sure they'll all be taking nice, long, and uninterrupted naps." Said Naruko with a smirk, making the ravenette laugh slightly.
"Are you coming?" Questioned Andromeda, only for the whiskered demigod to shake her head.
"No, I enjoy staying up at night and seeing the stars, besides this is when I'm the most energized." Naruko replied, with Andromeda nodding at this.
"Okay. And Naruko, for what it's worth, I don't think you're a nobody or the rest of the unclaimed demigods." Andromeda said smiling at the Uzumaki before turning to head back to Cabin Eleven.
With Naruko smiling slightly at her words as her expression turned somber before heading for the pine tree. Where she sat down with her back against it, as she let out a small sigh.
"Goodnight Thalia." Naruko muttered to herself as she gave another glance at the pine tree, recalling how she had the unfortunate "honor" of having a front row seat when Thalia was transformed into the Pine Tree.
Having hated herself, when she ran away with Annabeth, Luke and Grover. Rather than staying back and fight alongside their friend, or having the courage to make that sacrifice in her place. This lead to Naruko looking up any spell or artifact that she could find, to revive Thalia. Unfortunately, it was easier said than done, especially when she took into account the condition that Thalia was in. Not wanting to revive her, only to die not long after, from her injuries.
With things only going from bad to worse with her and Annabeth's falling out, as well as how she and Luke fell out of contact despite living in the same cabin.
Finishing up her trip down memory lane, Naruko let out another sigh before she coated herself in the mist as she closed her eyes. Getting comfy, before she eventually dozed off.
So, what did you think, good. Yep we see Andromeda after her first day in Camp Half-Blood, only to then meet Naruko Uzumaki, Daughter of Hecate, who's interested in meeting the newest camper, along with already showing a talent in manipulating the Mist, before she and Andromeda start talking, with Naruko also giving Andromeda a lot of answers and explanations on some things, as well as being bitter towards the Olympians for how the Minor Gods and Goddesses don't have cabins. With Andromeda then asking Naruko about her abilities, having the standard abilities she's inherited from Hecate, as well as the ability of Prophecy she inherited from Koios and being able to read the stars and constellations from Krios. Naruko then explains the Oath of the Big Three and how Zeus broke it, not mentioning Thalia herself before sending Andromeda back to Cabin Eleven but not before promising to clear up anything else for her. Finally we see that Naruko had been with Thalia, Annabeth, Luke, and Grover when they arrived at Camp Half-Blood and seeing Thalia be turned into a tree, along with her and Annabeth having a falling out, while she and Luke had grown distant. So, for those that like the story, thanks for your support. For those that don't or at least don't like the direction taken, you're more than welcomed to drop the story. But thanks for giving the story a chance anyway.
Storm out
