Chapter One: Licorice Wands
( AUTHORS NOTE: I changed the Beckett family names. I liked the all 'A' vibe better than all 'K's :)
Also I do not own the rights to Harry Potter, just wanted to say that :)

King cross station, platform nine and three quarters, and the Hogwarts express for many were nostalgic and iconic. For some they may have been dreadful and stress inducing. No matter how they felt, it all had to do with the destination associated with these places. The station was bustling with parents and students alike. Most of which were returning for the second time or more. One of those families were the Becketts. Mr and Mrs Beckett had been to this very location not only as students themselves, but also now for their children. They had a total of five children, one after the other almost every year until they had their last, a daughter. Unlike her four brothers before her she was born 4 years after the youngest son. Their names in order: Adonis, Alexander, Apollo, Alden, and Alyona
Unlike her brothers that had been to the platform and boarded the express many times, this was Alyona's first time being there as a student. She had been there for her most of her brother's departures but now that it was her turn it was surprisingly overwhelming. Probably due to how packed and busy it was the closer you got to the train itself. The family were all dressed very clean, classic, and neat in their tailored coats, well fitting jumpers, and polished shoes pushed their way to the front of the crowd so Alyona could finally climb aboard.
Mrs. Beckett was dressed in a rosy pink blazer with a grey colored fitted jumper underneath. Along with a matching knee length tweed pencil skirt and four inch black shiny patent leather, pointed toe Gucci pumps. A shoe choice that put right at the six foot mark. She had honey brown colored eyes that complimented her hair that was an ashy blonde, neatly put up into a bun. She was carrying a very small black clutch in her right hand.
Her husband was wearing a grey sports jacket style blazer with a very pale pink dress shirt underneath. Topped with a deep rose colored tie. He had grey pressed dress trousers on with black patent leather Prada dress shoes. Mr. Beckett was rather tall at about six foot four and had mostly silvery hair apart from a few blonde streaks left in it. His eyes were a striking mix of blue and green that stood out against his dark complexion. The brothers all wearing some sort of variation of their dads outfit.
The family all looked very uniform together. They all have varying shades of blonde hair: Golden, Ash, Platinum, Dishwater, Sandy, Silvery, and Beige. You could very clearly tell they were all related.
Just before she was close enough to step on to the train, her mother, doing her best to talk over the crowd asked her "you're sure you have everything? Three bags seems light for a whole school year. You're sure you brought enough clothes, especially your uniforms? All of you books and supplies?" Alyona sighed. " Mom, I don't think we could have been more thorough. How many times did we open up everything and check, and double check, and triple check..? Alyona's mother took a deep breath and said "okay, okay. It's just that I couldn't get by the first week after your brothers would get to school without receiving a letter from them asking for me to send them something they forgot, I just wanted to make sure."
Alyona noticed that her family seemed to be blocking the way of others trying to board, although they were just too polite to ask them to move. Also the two youngest brothers had already gone in and probably found a seat. "Mom, I need to get going and so does everyone else behind us. I love you" she hugged her mother and father one last time. "I love you too" they both said to her. She waved to her two oldest brothers, promptly picked up her dusty rose colored luggage bags and headed inside the train. She wasn't sure where her other brothers had found a place to sit, but once she found an empty cabin it was great news for her considering she preferred to just look out the window and day dream instead of making small talk with strangers.
The four remaining members of the Beckett family found the window of her cabin and waved as the express started slowly moving. She waved back and maybe even shed a small tear at the thought of being away from her home for so long. Eventually the platform came to an end as the train had completely left the station.
'There was no turning back now' She thought while looking at the beautiful green landscape right outside her window. Beautiful rolling hills and streams that connected with one another that seemed to go on for miles and miles.
Alyona was, as many people had described her, beautiful. Her mother was English and her father was born of African and English descent. She had golden tan skin with a slight olive undertone that just seemed to glow no matter the surrounding lighting. Her glossy blonde hair, which had strands of platinum, gold, and honey all mixed together to create a sun kissed color, was mid back length and naturally wavy. She had striking icy blue eyes that looked like Arctic glaciers. She had a cute button nose and plushy pink lips. She was of average height for her age but already wished she was taller. Probably due to her brothers all towering over her.
She was a lovely young girl with a very large imagination. She loved to fantasize about amazing quests and fantastic magical creatures. She was lost in a daydream about all of the amazing sights and adventures that awaited her at Hogwarts.
She was so zoned out that she almost missed her chance at a snack from the trolly. The most faint sound of a woman shouting "anything from the trolly!" Had finally caught her attention. She grabbed her white leather wallet out of her pink backpack and raced down the hallway of the train to hopefully catch the trolly.
Once she got there the trolly witch asked her what she would like and she politely said "two licorice wands please" the trolly witch nodded and grabbed two wands for her and said "that'll be 2 galleons dear". Alyona opened her wallet only to see the bottom of it. She realized that her money was in a plastic bag in her backpack curtesy of her father. "I'm sorry, I have to run back to my cabin to get it, is that okay"? Just before the trolly witch could answer a smooth voice interrupted.
"Here don't have her go all the way back, I'll just get them for her". Alyona looked behind her to see a tall, platinum blonde student reaching out with the money to pay for her items. "That's very kind of you" said the trolly witch with a smile. "Oh no, please let me pay you back at least, maybe once we're off the train and I have my bag with me?" The boy looked surprised "I don't need your money by any means, just take this as my good deed for the day". Alyona smiled and kindly accepted his offer "thank you so much" she said. She then took her snacks and started to head back to the cabin.
Some time later while she was looking out of the window trapped in another one of her daydreams she heard the door to her cabin open and it slightly startled her. She looked over to see it was the same boy from the trolly encounter earlier.
"Oh hey, here I have my money with me now so please take this as a thank you for earlier, what you did was so sweet" he politely pushed her hand that was holding the money away from him with a grin "It really was nothing, I overheard the situation and just decided to help for some reason I guess." She gave him a grateful look and smiled. "So, what's your name?" He asked. "I'm Alyona, Alyona..Beckett" she said shyly. "That's a pretty name" Draco said. "Thank you, she told him. He then asked her "what does it mean"? "It's Russian, it means light" she replied "And you?" She asked. Draco smirked. I'm Malfoy, Draco Malfoy."
"Draco is Latin for dragon" he said, looking very proud of his name. Alyona was fixated on the fact that a Malfoy was sitting in the same cabin as her. She knew that surname, but then again so did everyone. She had actually met his father a couple weeks earlier while she was with her parents at the ministry for magic.
The Malfoy family was famous or maybe infamous would be a better word. She felt starstruck like she was in the presence of a celebrity. However on the outside she remained calm and collected. "It's nice to meet you". She said while still snacking on her candy from earlier. "The pleasure is mine, what are you doing sitting here alone? You don't like having friends or what?" He said jokingly. She laughed slightly and responded "well, my brothers are on the train somewhere, they boarded before me and I lost them somehow when I boarded. So I just decided to take the opportunity to sit alone look out of the window and learn something as my grandparents would say" Draco laughed. "That's pretty good advice I'd say, my father tells me all the time how I'm hanging about inside too much, I think he just gets on an authority high sometimes. ". She giggled at his response.
For a brief moment the two stared at each other's blue eyes until Draco finally broke the silence. "What year are you in now?" He asked. Alyona spoke "well, this is actually my first year attending, how about you?" He responded with "It'll be my second year this time, I can't wait to go back. I finally have friends that I get to see and life back home is very…isolated for me". His answer seemed to have a bit of sadness in it.
" How so" She asked. Draco looked as if he had snapped out of a trance and quickly responded. "It's not important, I'm going to be with my friends and have a great year this time, that's all that matters"
Alyona seemed concerned but was to shy to ask him to elaborate. "Well that's at least a positive mindset, I like it" she said cheerfully. "Ya I guess it is". He said in a very gloomy tone. "I have some more sweets with me that I don't think I can finish, would you like any of these?" He asked Draco held out his hand to reveal some chocolate frogs and a bag of jellybeans. "Or if you'd like I can go get you something from the cart once it comes 'round again. I don't think two licorice wands will be enough for the whole train ride." She smiled. "Oh I have a few snacks from home that my mom packed me, I just wanted to try something from the trolly." But thank you" she replied.
He took a moment to glance over her outfit and her bags she had with her. "The pink is a bit much innit', is your role model Barbie or something?" Alyona was wearing a pink turtleneck jumper with a white pleated skirt. She had rosy pink socks that went up to her knees and black maryjane style dress shoes with a bit of a heel. Complete with a gold leaf headband that matched perfectly with her blonde locks. She had a small pink backpack and her white wallet on the seat next to her on the window side of the cabin. "Well, Pink is a happy color and my favourite color" she said confidently. "The black is a bit much innit" she said mocking his previous tone. Draco was wearing a black suit that fit him as if it was tailored to his exact proportions, which it probably was since his family definitely had the money for it. "Black is classic" he said in a simple tone. "But I suppose it won't matter since we'll be in robes all year anyway." Alyona agreed "ya, I'm kind of grateful for the uniforms. No need to worry about what to wear on a daily basis." He nodded "ya I suppose, I think you'd look fine in anything though so no need to worry about what to wear" he said while he gave her a small grin. Alyona looked a little shocked and confused as to what he meant by that. "What do you…" she was cut off by someone else opening the cabin door.
"There you are, you said you needed to use the restroom and you've been gone for ages, we thought you jumped off the train or something. Why are you in here?" It was one of Draco's friends that he had been sitting with before he came to Alyona's cabin. "Oh I just got sidetracked on the way back" he said in a sly tone of voice. "Who is she?" His friend asked Draco. "This is Alyona, she's new this year and I just thought I'd be a bit of a welcoming party"
Alyona looked embarrassed at the situation. "so are you coming back to our cabin or…" asked his friend. "Ya, let's go I suppose" Draco said. Alyona watched him as he stood up a headed out of the cabin. Draco turned around and gave her one more small smile "see you at school" he said before heading down the hallway.
It seemed that not long later they had arrived Hogsmeade station. She gathered her things and headed off the train being one of the last students off since she was taking her time, stretching her limbs and waiting for her feet to wake up from sitting for so long. Once she stepped off, the station almost seemed empty.
'Wow, I didn't think it took me that long to get off the train but okay I guess' she thought to herself. She started walking towards the gate when she heard a whistle from next to her. She turned to her right to see the same pair of steel-blue eyes that she recognized from on the train...
