Church of the Green Dragon

It was the end for us all. That's what I certainly thought, and believed in. Then it came. A dragon. One that wore a green symbol with pride, and saved us all when the Wyvern came, a primordial evil.

Now we worship it, as a protector. Sure the Sister Goddesses came after, but the Dragon of the Green Symbol came first.

-Russel Thrush, High Priest of the Church.

Sieg has seen the Holy grail War before. Okay, not him exactly, more like the original Sieg who then left to the Reverse Side to wait for Jeanne, then made him during that strange Singularity where he himself was born. Sure he didn't have the experience, but he had the memories where it was Servant vs Servant, and people dying.

"Gra!" This wasn't even close to the battle where the world was at stake.

"Ahh!" Though it was certainly more bloody, full of cries and screams, with corpses all around.

"Move to the building. Move!" Siegfried told those who remained, with the people listening without hesitation. Feet stampeding on the ground followed by the sounds of roars and bellows. In the usual case, these poor people would die.

"Hya!" Thankfully, two adorable but tough girls instantly jumped onto the hoard of Grimm. Beowolves, Boarbatusks, Creeps, Major Ursas, all big and strong with scary faces. Any lesser man or woman would fall to their knees and cry at such a doom.

"Face the Sword or Selection power!" Saber (Lily) told the Grimm as she swung downward so hard, an arc of slicing wind came and actually cut through some of the Grimm.

"Eat my Santa Mentors own attack!" Jeanne (Lily) herself then used the lesser but still potent of Amakusa's Big Bang attack and shot out a green and red version of her own. The attacks exploded against the tide of black and sent them back while disintegrating those up front. The Grimm roared in indignation at being stopped by two brats, and charged without thought. Though the more intelligent Grimm stayed back, watching to get a chance to strike.

"I think not." Cursed Arm of course had something to say against that. Throwing his dirks into their skulls which killed them off. Beside him is Serenity also doing the same, and killing any Grimm that showed even a hint of tactic.

"I will not let you through demonic monsters." Siegfried was also defiant to these beasts. Slaying each one down before they could take even a single step towards the people he tried protecting. Not willing to see another citizen die.

Bmmmrrrr!

It was then a shaking was heard. A loud noise could be heard across the entire city. The very ground shaking. Where while Chaldeas old enemies didn't stop, the Grimm did instead. All of them momentarily pausing their attack as they then turned to see what was a monumental occasion.

"...That's not good." Is all Sieg said as his eyes saw a mountain blow up, revealing it.

Glowing red eyes that may as well have said doom. Torn yet still capable wings that lifted a dark mass into the sky. Claws that could slice through buildings and people like butter. Not to mention the amount of teeth one can see in the maw of this monstrosity. While his instincts said this was no dragon, a giant Wyvern wasn't any better either.

"Thats a big one." Siegfried has of course faced bigger, like Fafnir. Not that it meant it would be easy slaying this one of course. At full power, he could easily do it. Here and now though, where he and all other Servants were weakened, not as much. Plus he's been battling these Grimm and other foes for a while now, meaning he didn't have much energy to spare. He couldn't even use his Noble Phantasm full force, as just the charge will make him vanish.

Saber (Lily) and Jeanne (Lily) weren't any better, and the Hassans, not even an option. Unless…

"Cursed Arm!" The dragon slayer looked toward the masked Servant. "Can you-oh, right." His eyes then saw he didn't even have his 'cursed arm' at all. How did that happen?

"Yes, I know." Cursed Arm muttered. "Useless without it. Not that it would have worked anyway. These things have no heart. Literally." Meaning he's pretty useless against Grimm in general.

"Then what do we do?" Saber (Lily) says with worry. As no way can they allow this thing to just fly freely and attack whatever came into its sights. They needed a plan.

"I'll go." A plan that might just get one of them killed, as Sieg then stepped up.

"Sieg." Siegfried then shaked his head. "No. You've used your mana, and it's impossible-"

"I don't care." Sieg interrupted, his eyes on the Wyvern as it slammed itself onto an Atlas ship cruiser. "Yes my mana is a bit low, but not as much as compared to you guys. I haven't battled as much." Instead focusing his efforts on the people which he used his own magic to defend them. So he had extra compared to the others who were fighting more.

"But you'll be weakened." Siegfried tells him, trying to get him to not risk himself. "I don't know why, but this place, it feels as if we're being imposed on. Like something is chaining our full potential." When he let loose Balmung, he knew instantly it wasn't as strong as it should be. He did lessen the attack so he wouldn't hurt allies, but it felt far weaker than it should be. Meaning its possible Sieg's transformation to the great dragon will be the same.

"Maybe." Sieg nods. "I won't lie that thought hasn't come to mind. And yet," His eyes then looked at the scared people, doing their best to survive. With the Huntsmen and soldiers dying in their place, just to protect them. "I'll do what I must."

Siegfried sighed. It seems his mind was set.

"Fine." He relented. "However, I'm going with you. If I restrain myself, I can use a Balmung one more time to harm it greatly."

"Thanks." Sieg smiled. "Then let's do our best."

"Indeed we will." Siegfried replied with a smile of his own. The young homunculus then glowing as he began activating his Noble Phantasm. Those who saw the young man were then about to witness the miracle of a Noble Phantasm. All that started with a green symbol.

He had less than five minutes.

"Ha!" Russel Thrush, Beacon student, former bully, was about to die.

His fears were coming real. His hands trembled before his sight. His feet feel more tired than they've ever been. Not to mention he already lost his blades.

"Grr." That, and he was surrounded by colorful Grimm he's never seen before. So yeah, he's more or less screwed. He should have realized that when Amity was somehow sucked into something.

'And just like Amity, I'm going to disappear as well.' The former bully thought sadly. Where the only difference between him and the symbol of the four kingdoms is at least the building will be missed. Where he himself will be considered just a passing thought. With those sad thoughts, Russel just stood tall, to at least have some dignity before he died. There was one good thing though.

"Graaaaaaa!" He won't be facing that giant Grimm flying in the sky sweating black drops. Heck, the Grimm nearby were all cheering in roars, clearly celebrating this things arrival and attacking with great ferocity. So he supposed he should let these monsters finish him off instead of facing that abomina-

"GRAAAAAAAAA!"

"What the what!?" Russel wasn't the only one who clearly felt this, as he and even the monsters surrounding him were all pausing as they heard the much louder roar in the sky. So loud, that glass shattered and the Grimm themselves paused once more. In hesitation. Everybody just standing their as they heard what was an alpha roar, and were waiting to see what was next.

"Shraa!" It then began with the Wyvern being confronted by what Russel could only find as majestic.

It looked evil. It sounded evil. Heck, it had a sinister glowing green symbol on its chest. Just looking at it made Russel feel he was about to see the end of the city. Then, a miracle happened.

"Raaaa!" The dragon attacked the Wyvern without a care in the world. In that instant Russel ran while the monsters were distracted by what was clearly going to be an epic fight. Yet he kept his eyes on the two massive beasts, and watched.

The dragon swiped a claw at the Wyvern, avoiding it by flying back. The dragon didn't give up though, instead quickly rushing at it and then slammed its head onto the dragon's chest, flying upward. The Wyvern trying to claw at the black dragon, not even leaving a mark.

Instead however, as Russel ran, he noticed something. How particularly the oozing sweat began forming into something else. Forming into...Grimm. Even though he couldn't hear it, he knew the Grimm were roaring. Now climbing onto the dragon's body, with a few even going for the eye.

Then he saw a glowing blue light up above. Slashing down the Grimm. Instantly Russel realized someone else is on the dragon. Helping it. Ensuring the dragons full focus is on the Wyvern without anything else distracting it. Amazing. That's what it is.

The Wyvern of course wasn't going to take this lying down of course. With a bellow, it opened its maw which had more teeth that Russel could count, and then bit down onto the right side of the dragon's face. While at first it didn't seem to do much other than annoy the dragon, the teeth slid until it hit the eye. Now that got a reaction.

The dragon hissed in pain, and turned its head. Using that opportunity, the Wyvern slid downward and got out of the dragon's way, and flew down below it. Then making a wide turn and got onto the dragon back. Where it then began assaulting on the wings, in an attempt to drive the dragon down.

The dragon roared in defence, and instead swung its tail and slapped the Wyvern off. From the Wyvern thought flying Grimm came out alongside those from the sky. It roared and seemed to command its brethren to attack with it on the dragon. The Griffons and Nevermores then made their move. Whoever was on that dragon's back is good, but even they couldn't stop all the Grimm attacking them.

For every slash made, a Grimm would just come around and either bite down on the tough hide or shoot feathers. While doing no real damage, it was clear the dragon is getting rather tired. Yet it didn't give in, adn flew down and spun around causing all the Grimm latched onto it to be removed. Then it lifted its head where a blue light could be seen coming from the throat, and then began firing a blue breath of fire. The torrent of blue incinerated all Grimm in its path, and aimed at the Wyvern.

"Raa!" The Wyvern just turned away just in time, avoiding instant death. Then once the flames went down, it flapped its wings and flew higher in the air. With it were countless Nvermores, each the size of three buses that coordinated with the great Grimm. Where with a roar, the Nevermores shot down a rain of feathers at the dragon.

Even though these long and thick feathers couldn't actually harm the dragon, it still blinded it with a few actually sticking onto it. It was then at that moment, the Wyvern struck and rushed downward. It's maw opened and roared loudly, as if to challenge the dragon.

By this point, Russel had amazingly found safety, and is on a building. His eyes then saw the Wyvern land onto one of the dragon's wings, and then sank its teeth onto one of the dragon's wings. With its strength, velocity and weight, the dragon's wing tore right off in a sickening way, with blood spilling from its body and down below.

"Graaaa!" With a shriek of pain, the dragon then began slowly falling down to the city below. The Wyvern in the sky, now triumphant, screeched in what may as well have been victory. Something Russel couldn't blame it for. After all, the dragon with the green symbol, clearly failed. Haha. To think...he thought this beast would win. With such depressing thoughts, Russel felt this was it. The Wyvern would continue its rampage unchallenged. Commanding the local Grimm and destroying both Vale and Atlas forces.

At least, until he saw it.

First he heard a massive crash, likely from when the dragon made impact with the cold hard ground. Then a minute after, a blue beam of light burst from behind buildings. It wasn't the dragon, as these weren't flames. Instead it was just a burst of energy that then hit the Wyvern dead-on in the chest. The Wyvern soon screeching in pain as it felt the attack harm it.

Not only that, it caused it to soon fall down into the city below. Just like the dragon, it then crashed into many buildings, causing the area to shake like a mini earthquake. Russel unable to get a proper footing as the building he is on shaked like a wobbly domino.

"Raaaaa!" Then to Russels surprise, many buildings fell down. Unable to withstand the force when two massive beings hit the city, and when those buildings fell, dust was sent flying everywhere. The very force of the landing also sent a shockwave of air, with Rusel doing his best to not get blown back while covering his eyes.

Once that passed, Russel then saw what he considered incredible. Those who were in similar positions like him felt the same. As once the dust settled, while Russell alo made certain there were no monsters to harm him, he then saw both wyvern and dragon facing off each other.

The former opening its maw and shrieking with Grimm of all sorts coming and backing-up their leader. The giant Grimm being far from happy at being sent tumbling to the ground like some broken toy. As for the latter, the dragon wasn't entirely in good condition. It had one bleeding eye, and a torn wing. Sure the Wyvern had a scorch mark on its chest-which is sadly healing-the dragon on the other hand, well, it didn't feel weakened. Russel wasn't sure why, but he felt the dragon give off a sense of pride.

The two giants then gazed at one another.

One with the hatred and wanting of human death like all Grimm had.

The second with the strange desire Russel felt in protecting life.

Their gazes met, both looked at one another.

"Graaaa!"

"Graaaa!"

Then they rushed at each other with roars that shaked the very ground. Both taking huge steps and rammed into one another. The Wyvern opening its toothy jaw and bit into the dragon's shoulders. Leaving teeth marks on it, but not actually making a wound. Actually, Russel saw some of the teeth crack with others breaking. How tough is that dragons hide?

As for the Wyverns foe, it simply bashed it's head onto the Grimm's chest. Then from its mouth at point blank, shot a small burst of fire causing the Grimm to shriek. Instantly from the surrounding area more Grimm came, and tried to help their Alpha leader. That's when Russel noticed something shiny and from it he spotted a figure that jumped down from the dragon's back and began cutting down any Grimm that tried to attack the dragon. Like a defender.

With amazement and awe, Russel saw this figure at the distance doing what he could, while the dragon soon overpowered the Wyvern and pushed it onto it's back. The primal Grimm tried everything it could to roll over and escape. The dragon used its claws to keep it in place. Then, it opened its mouth for one final attack, something that the Grimm noticed and screeched to get all the local Grimm to help out.

While this unknown figure is good, even he couldn't stop the Grimm from trying to help the Wyvern, let aside all of them or the ones in the air. The Nevermores, Griffons, Beowolves, Creeps, and so on all trying their absolute best to save the Wyvern and each striking the dragon with claws, teeth, scorpion tail, and whatever they had on them. None that bothered the dragon much, as while marks and small injuries were made, it still focused on the Wyvern.

No mercy could be seen in those eyes, and at last it then shot blue flames that engulfed the screeching Wyvern. Burning it up with it's body slowly vanishing away from existence. Red eyes that realized it was about to die, and go wherever all Grimm go upon death. Yet even then, the Wyvern decided to do one last thing.

"Graaaaaaa!" Instantly all the Grimm that were battling the figure or attacking the dragon stopped, and then began turning back. All of them then leave without ever looking back. Russel was no expert on Grimm speak, but he could guess the Wyvern told all the Grimm to escape so that they could continue killing while not facing the powerful dragon. Talk about sinister. As while the Wyvern lost, it ensured the Grimm wouldn't fight the dragon and just attack others to continue spreading death.

A cold satisfaction was seen in the Wyverns' eyes as the flames soon engulfed its body, and vanished away. Dead.

Then, like those action movies he's seen, Russel saw as the dragon with the green symbol lifted itself up, and roared in the air in triumph. Then, like some miracle, it vanished away in blue sparkling light.

The battle only lasted less than five minutes. Yet it felt like a lifetime to Russel, and those who saw it.

For when the Wyvern came, it's presence seemed to scream harbinger of doom.

But this dragon had arrived and saved them.

Unknown to everybody, this act was caused by the Servant Sieg aided by the Servant Siegfried. Two heroes that did their best to help this city as much as they could. Little did they know, they're actions will have an effect on this day, and even the future. As since nobody knew these two were the ones that saved them, instead those that did believed it to be something else.

A God.

Three years from now, after the Sister Goddesses church was made, another church will be built in honor of the Dragon with the Green Symbol. Or as time will later call it, the Green Dragon. A divine being that brought morale and hope when Vale was at its worst, with what people will call the Defender aiding it as its trust ally. The two that stopped the Wyvern Grimm, and-due to exaggeration-an army of Grimm without stopping. With those that witnessed this battle described it as a light when all things were dark. With the Green Dragon and the Defender later seen a few times after during the turmoil Remnant faced in its later years, before one day vanishing.

Russel Thrush didn't forget it, and neither did the people who've seen it. With Russel growing and being one of the five founders of this church. The religion accepted where many years later he'd become a kind and passionate man while being the church's High priest. A mantle he would pass to his daughter, who passed it to her son, and so on and so forth.

Russel Thrush found his faith that day. Long live the Green Dragon.

To those who may be new or confused, this is a spin-off, a side-story of the main fanfiction RWBY: Fate Disaster I have written: A story that will feature others.

With these incredible and amazing Servants here on Remnant, I'd like to think they'd do more than just bring craziness, heroics, and disaster. As you just read, after this battle Sieg and Siegfried became unique legends in Remnants' future, and are now the Green Dragon and the Defender. A combination of exaggeration, tales, and miswording by others.

And to MajorMistake444, you are right, I did skip lots of things. That was on purpose though, as this anthology will feature different things, including the fights that occurred in Vale, and the impact it had. Good criticism though, gets me thinking about future writing. So don't worry, you'll see some of the events that occurred in Vale and others stuff.

In any case, I hope you readers liked this segment of the story as we see what else happens in the story's past, present, and future. Until next time.
