(Somewhere in Colombia)
Breaking out of a glowing green haze, Bruno shook his head with a deep frown as he caught a new prophecy slab and stared down at it. It was so strange. Bruno turned to the pile of prophecies next to him. Each one was a copy of the vision he held in his hand.
"TIO BRUNO! MA SAY'S DINNER IS READY!"
Eyeing the prophecy for a moment longer, he grumbled under his breath and sighed before walking out of his youngest Sobrino's room. Antonio had given him a space in his room for his visions, though Casita had no problem reconstructing his sand cavern. He just held no desire to climb those stairs ever again.
Stepping out into the hall, he paused and brushed off the sand on the shoulder of his rauna before making his way to the dining table. He made it as far as the entry before a hand came up from behind and ruffled his hair. Specks of sand fell from the sudden assault on his curls. "Mamá!"
"None of that. You're covered in sand, Brunito! What are you doing with that? What is it?" She pointed to the bright green slab he was holding beneath his arm. "Another prophecy? Nothing about the family, right?"
Immediately, he could see her worry showing in her eyes. "No, mamá, well, not really, I don't think. It might be a little bit about Camilo."
CRASH
"Mi bebé?!"
Alma and Bruno turned to see Pepa standing with a weathered grey cloud forming above her head. Beside her, a curious Camilo and Mirabel looked at the hidden green slab, but neither made a move to look at it. A shock of thunder pulled them from their curious gaze, and while Mirabel turned to watch her cousin calm her aunt, she bent down to pick up the broken plates lying shattered on the ground. "Tio Bruno, you would tell us if it was something to worry about," turning her attention back to her uncle, "right?"
He gave a nervous chuckle, Mirabel knew how afraid he was of disappointing his family, but she was right. "W-well, naturally I would. If-if it was something to worry over; I would make sure you knew. Not like I have a reason to be afraid of the consequences of being too honest, heh. Of course, I'm joking!" He wasn't. He still felt self-conscious around his family. Afraid of speaking out about his visions. He never wanted to be called Bad Luck Bruno again.
Pepa, his high-strung Hermana, was drenched in nerves and rainfall, though, mostly rainfall. Bruno could see his sobrina Mirabel wasn't fairing any better. Even from where he stood, he could see that Mirabel's skirt was becoming saturated with the same rainwater that was now spreading across the floorboards of Casita. Then Camilo was entirely too used to Pepa's emotional outbursts and had no problem with the sudden downpour. What's a soggy rauna or squeaky shoes when it comes to making his mami feel better?
"It's okay, mami. It's okay. I'm okay, see. Tio Bruno hasn't even said what it is, just that I'm in it."
Pepa took careful breaths. Her hands that had been gripping her dress fell to her side. If possible, Pepa was clenching the water in the puddle on the floor.
Mirabel discarded the broken plates in a trash bin that Casita brought over and moved closer to Pepa. Bruno was starting to wish he'd left the stupid green stone slab in Antonio's room.
"The last prophecy I was in turned out not to be as bad as everyone made it out to be. If we actually listen to what Tio Bruno says and calmly consider the possibilities of the prophecy, we can figure out what it is. I'm sure it's nothing bad, Tia Pepa."
"Ah, mi vida! What's going on in here!?"
"It's nothing, Felix. I just," Pepa took one more deep breath before turning and making her way upstairs. "I need to change." Felix wasted no time in following his beloved up the steps.
Mirabel looked down at her clothes, "that makes two of us."
"Three of us," Camilo laughed.
It was nearly fifteen minutes later, and la Familia Madrigal had settled down at the table for dinner. Half of the room was unaware of the brief and quickly diverted drama that took place not long ago. Meanwhile, the half that had been present kept giving Bruno side glances.
"So, I have something to say."
A clatter sounded from Bruno's right, three seats away. Pepa's silverware had dropped onto her plate. Though she wasn't looking at him, she had visibly tensed and was whispering to herself, "clear skies, clear blue skies," if only to avoid changing her clothes for a second time that evening.
Quickly bringing his hands up, he smiled, "it's nothing bad!"
That brought up the mood just enough to breathe.
"I don't think."
Camilo laughed, "why don't we skip this part of the reveal and go straight to, "what did you see?" Mami, you're hurting my hand." Wiggling his hand free from his mother's vice grip, he turned back to Bruno, who was pulling out the prophecy. He pushed it forward towards Camilo, who stood up and reached out for it. Taking the almost glowing green slab of vision in hand. Camilo looked it over carefully, and his eyes widened after a few moments of silence. "Oh..."

(Tokyo, Japan)
Almost eerie, the screams of agony drowned out by the torrential rainstorm wrecking the shrine right outside a shattered window. Rain splattered a ladened blood floor, mixing with the thick crimson that was beginning to cling to once pale flesh. Lighting followed thunder that preyed on a young girl's heartache.
A chill blew in from outside; Kagome looked out the window with a broken gaze. "...why?" Bringing her hand to her tear-stained face, she shook her head. The blood of her deceased sibling brushed the tip of her nails; Kagome trailed a finger along her cheek as she traced the trail of her tears. A thin line of red followed. Where there was once laughter, there were hollow halls veiled in taunting darkness. The magic that once warmed a shaded well was stained red with the memories of her past, no longer reaching across time and space.
Even if the well did still work... there was nothing left back there. Bloodstains of a family she'd never see again, left five hundred years in the past, buried beneath blood and fire. Memories that were best left forgotten. She should have stayed. She should have fought, died by their side! She ran, and because she ran, he followed! HE grabbed her as she stumbled desperately down the well! Why!? Why did he grab her!? He could have killed her before she fell over the well, but he waited and watched, and then... no, it wouldn't be enough just killing her. He had wanted to wipe out everyone that mattered to her. Her mother - brother - grandfather. Lying, panting on the floor, crying, screaming. It had been hours since he left. Hours in a shrine where blood was imprinting the floorboards, and a rustic stench heavily soaked the air. Her eyes lingered on the lifeless forms of those she loved. A flash of lightning lit up the room, and for a brief moment, she saw his outline. Naraku's, leaning in close enough to touch, and then it was dark once more.
She'd thought that he would come for her next? He'd taken everyone from her already, right? Who else was there? No one. So, why was she still sitting there on the cold floor then?
"Not yet..."
He'd whispered in her ear, then vanished in a violet haze of miasma. Kagome hadn't even covered her mouth, taking in the thick fog like a drug. If it clouded her thoughts and poisoned her lungs, she could only be so lucky. After what seemed like days, she finally moved, but it wasn't to stand up or seek help. Shakingly, her fingers traced a piece of the shattered window next to her. "Mama, Grandpa...Souta..." heaving, she choked back her tears; this was too much, even for her. How strong was she expected to be? Was this why Naraku had left her alone?
To wallow and waste away in her despair?! To hell with it! She wasn't going to sit around for him to kill her when he was good and ready! No, she would decide herself! Gripping the shard tightly in her hand, she brought it to her wrist and pressed hard, hard enough to cut through the top layer of skin and deep enough to draw blood. Strangely, she stared at the blood that was beginning to trickle along her wrist, and, in her fascination, she dropped the shard and began to cry new tears. 'Mama...' shaking her head as she curled into herself, burying her head in her overlapping arms, she ignored the sting of her wrist and cried. Cried until she couldn't cry anymore. Until Kagome felt she had no tears left to shed. She cried herself exhausted, and finally, it was quiet.
Fluttering in from the window, a brightly glowing golden butterfly flew inside. Its happy airborne dance hardly matched the somber atmosphere left behind by the spider Hanyou. Yet it still kept on its path, settling on the bleeding wrist. The loss of blood would in no way endanger the now sleeping girl. Still, there was a desperate heart hearing for a family, and hers was gone. Perhaps, however, there was another who would welcome her. Glowing brighter than previously before, when it finally faded into the darkness, all that remained behind was a thinly braided gold shimmer around her wrist and the outline of a small golden butterfly just over her pulse. It carefully concealed the cut she'd made in her hopeless attempt at escaping this nightmare.
The shimmer around her wrist continued to glow throughout the night and would continue until she woke up.

Me: Here is chapter one. I think, in some way, shape, or form, everyone got nipped by the Encanto bug. It resonates somehow with many different people. I find myself feeling like Mirabel but obsessing over Camilo. Two different reasons, folks. Mirabel feeling like she'll never be enough for a family that's so much more outstanding than she is and still going day to day with a smile, hit home. Camilo is just soft and sassy, and I adore him and everything he is. I am also sad that we didn't delve into his drama, so I decided to write this! Please tell me your thoughts! Also, I do not know any Spanish, just the basic bits and pieces I picked up from the movie. Correct me if I say something that isn't right!
