My name is Larson, or 'Gray' as some call me. My life is totally screwed up, has been since I was...born I think. Anyways, the Pokemon world always felt a bit off to me, and this is the story of how. I never went on a journey like all the other kids do when they were 10, instead I preferred to work at the Pokemart in town. Never caught one, never cared to, and after what I went through I'm surprised I ever looked at one again.

I was 17 at this point, and one day I just decided, why not have a journey now? With me out of my parents house and enough Pokedollars to buy myself a plane ticket from Hoenn to Sinnoh and back. Regardless, I also wanted to know what happened to my best friend Ethan, which finally motivated me. He had been missing for years at this point so, I wanted to at least find out what happened to him, if he just moved or something maybe bad.

Coming out of my house with a wallet full of Pokedollars, I was instantly drawn to a young woman about my age, wearing chiffon crocs with no socks, a black dress with some cobweb designs, and a violet headband. Her long, slightly messy, dark purple hair complimented her similar colored nails, and unmistakably by her eyes she was a Hex Maniac. Her dark purple, bluish eyes were gorgeous and the spirals in her eyes enchanting.

I heard the stories of how you should stay far away from these types of girls but, I couldn't resist. Looking into her spiral eyes I was completely hypnotized by them, as they swirled around and around, and before I even walked out the door, she was standing right in front of me from where she previously was, looking directly into my own eyes. She smelt of fragrant candles and her breath was hot but surprisingly minty. She giggled as I found myself completely entranced and waiting to listen to her every word.

"Hi there", she finally said something in her manic sounding but still lovely, feminine voice. I wanted to say something back but nothing came out. She leaned in closer, mere inches from her face, her eyes practically touching mine at this point. "You want to respond, don't you", she teased. She went on, "I've had these eyes on you for a time now. I can sense you want to find your friend". I was silent, but in my head I was totally wondering, "How does she know what I was going to do"?

She finally blinked, releasing me from my trance, as I averted my eyes; it was just now I realized she hadn't blinked since I was staring at her. "How do you know that", I asked her. She giggled again in her cute but wicked sounding laugh, "I can foresee certain things. You know, I've been eyeing your apartment for some time now, and you as well. Call me curious. As for what comes next, I want to follow you on your journey".

I wasn't so sure about that. Maybe she would put a spell on me, make me her slave, or something else. Again, I heard the stories, so naturally I distrusted her at first, "Why would you want to? What's your game anyways"? She gave a big grin, "No game. Well, at least not one to concern you. I'm simply bored, and...sensing your aura, I can tell we are similar. I am drawn to you". I took a chance; though there were cops and Officer Jenny's around, I still felt a little unsafe, "And what if I say no"?

She reached into her pocket and pulled out a Pokeball. At this point I thought I had pissed her off, but then, she handed it to me. It was completely black, minus the white button to open and expand the thing. "Why are you giving me this? What even is this type"? She explained, "It's a Dark Ball. It has a 10x chance to capture any Dark or Ghost type Pokemon. The chance double after every failed attempt, assuming there is a fail". She went on, "As for why I'm giving you this. I assume you need a Pokemon, as you are without one. So I'm giving you one of mine. Consider it a show of trust. I would like to come with you".

I still had more questions, "Where'd you get these? I've never seen these types before". She smiled wholeheartedly, "I got them from my mother. Quite a few really. She was a 'Channeler', as they are called. Most 'Hex Maniacs' as your kind dub me, are all children of 'Channelers'. My father was a Dark and Ghost type trainer". She rambled a bit, "Never had a name myself, and forget what my parent's names actually were, it's been so long since I've seen them. They're probably dead. But, I want to do something meaningful, or helpful. Could make them proud for all I know".

I inquired, "What should I call you then"? She shrugged, "Just call me Hexy, if you'd like. What would your name be"? I went to answer but she was only toying, "I kid. I already know your name Larson". This made me step back a little, and I looked down at the Dark Ball, "So, what kind of Pokemon is it"? She gave a wide smile, kind of evil, "It's a Mimikyu". Not the kind of Pokemon I had in mind, "Don't these things murder Pikachus out of jealousy"? Hexy nodded, "Yeah, but other than that he's pretty tame. Just keep him away from those types and he'll be fine. I think he's fine with Raichu and Pichu though".

"So, you're just giving me one of your Pokemon? Heck, he'll just follow me as his master"? She responded, "Mimikyus just want love above all else. Just treat him right and he'll do the same. Besides, I haven't had him too long". I was curious, "Well...I do have an old Pokedex if I need to know his moves. But indulge me. What other Pokemon do you have"? She took out two more Dark Balls, "Just a couple. Sableye and a Shiny Spiritomb". I went back into my house and grabbed the Pokedex and an old backpack, which Hexy proceeded to give me the rest of her empty Dark Balls to carry.

"So, do you have an idea where you want to head to in order to find your friend"? I shrugged, "No clue. That's why I've got to travel as far and wide as I can". As we began walking I note how she must've had adventures before, "If you have a Sableye you must've been in a cave at some point, and if you have a Spiritomb you must've been to Sinnoh at some point as well. You seem to be already well traveled". She admits, "I've never traveled with another human before. Not one that isn't family". I looked over her body stature, "How old are you anyways"? Hexy refrains from answering properly, "Old enough. To be honest I stopped counting the moment my parents were out of my life". If I was to travel with her, might as well poke her for information, I thought.

"How old are you", she counters. I rolled my eyes, "You know my name, so you must know my age at this point". She smiles, "You know me well enough already. I always make sure to know about someone before talking to them. To an extent. Stalking has its ups and downs". I remarked, "Not much of a people person then, are you"? I was somewhat interested to know what she did to me, "What was with that eye thing"?

Hexy giggled, her eyes swirling nonstop inside her irises naturally, "I was born with these. Being so in touch with the Dark and Ghost types, I must have inherited it from such. Regardless, they let me hypnotize anyone who looks directly at me. I can even make them sick if I want by making my spirals spin faster and faster. A little like a Spinda". I continued, "Why'd you do it to me"? She responded, "If I didn't, you probably would've gotten away without a conversation". Making a little small talk, I asked if she had an idea where an upcoming trainer like Ethan could be. "Do you name your Pokemon? Also, if you were...or technically you are, a trainer, where would you start your journey to become 'the best'?

"No, I've never named them. No reason to. Besides the fact not many trainers do anyways with their lack of imagination. As for where I would start my journey? Probably the woods outside of town to try and capture more, stronger Pokemon upon receiving a starter". I nodded, "Well, just across the woods through here and past the river is Pallet Town, so maybe Ethan did just that and went to talk to Professor Oak on the way after". I had a thought, 'Maybe he is staying at the Pokemon Center. But after years have gone by, it was probably a stretch'. Before hitting the woods, as I knew it'd be dangerous in there, I released my Mimikyu.

Out he came, choking his name, 'Kyu, kyu'. It sounded like a demon alright, as it was rumored to be underneath that costume of a Pikachu. It looked up at me, 'Kyu, Kyu'. I had to admit it was a little cute, as cute as a costumed being could be. It reminded me a little of children on Halloween, "Hey um, little guy", I knelt. It looked up with it's real eyes on the bottom, 'Mi, Kyu'. I pet him on the side and he seemed to like it, happily saying, 'Kyu'. Hexy grinned, "See, nothing to be afraid of. Just don't ever look at him underneath the costume. Any person who does will have a heart attack I hear. I saw myself, and I have to say, it isn't too scary. But for an average person, not a good idea".

I wondered, "What does he look like exactly"? She smiled wickedly, "An Eldritch Horror of black mass at first. But through that, unspeakable horror. It's quite delightful if I might say". The woods were unusually quiet, until we eventually came across a pack of Pikachus. Mimikyu angrily stared, "You know buddy, we can just walk around them", I suggested. Following me, the Pikachus began following us instead, being kind of territorial. One of them called at us, 'Pika Pika'. We tried to ignore them, until of course it happened. I was zapped by a jolt of electricity that should've killed me. Luckily it wasn't full powered, but my arm now had black scorch marks.

Hexy went to take out one of her Pokemon, but Mimikyu, seeing me hurt attacked the angry Pikachus in its own anger, 'Kyu, Kyu'! One of the Pikachus, followed by another, both used Charge Beam on Mimikyu, but it countered with Phantom Force, disappearing, the reappearing behind them and smacking them with its fake tail. This was enough to make them faint. One of the other Pikachus ran forward and tossed an Electro Ball. Mimikyu dodged and closed in for a Shadow Claw, slashing the Pokemon with its real arms. Another one launches a Spark, which hits but doesn't paralyze.

Mimikyu used Shadow Sneak, taking priority before the Pikachu used another move. Sending his shadow behind the attacker, said shadow slashed it from behind, instantly fainting him. A female Pikachu proceeded to use Shock Wave, blasting back Mimikyu, but he quickly reared back for his turn, using Astonish. Screaming loudly, it hurts the Pikachu severely, but also causes her to flinch, leaving her vulnerable for a second move. Mimikyu went over to her and planted a Draining Kiss on her, restoring his vigor and causing her to faint.

Multiple Pikachus ran at him with Tail Whip, but with a well timed Shadow Claw, he swiped them all away and out of the action as they retreated. One Pikachu stayed though as many other watched, and he charged up to perform one of Pikachu's most powerful moves, Thunderbolt. Mimikyu prepared, unphased, and just as the volts ran through his body, he sent out a huge Shadow Ball. Both Pokemon are hit and Mimikyu falls to the ground, his costume neck breaking, and the Pikachu nearly fainting but not quite.

'Kyu...Kyu'! The Mimikyu screamed in anger and ran over to the Pikachu, taking it by the throat with its real arms. He looked back to still see me writhing in pain from the singed arm, and giving a death glare, uses a Shadow Claw. The Pikachus and me both cried out, as it was the first horrible thing I'd ever seen...of which would become the norm. Mimikyu decapitated the Pikachu right in front of mine and their eyes. He dropped the body, as the other Pikachus ran for their lives. Mimikyu started twitching unsettlingly, and turned around to see me looking directly at it with fear.

He walked over slowly and I couldn't help but step back, which concerned Mimikyu, 'Kyu. Kyu'? His costume was broken, and covered in blood now. He lowered the head of his costume, more so, and began to walk away, tears in his eyes. I couldn't help but feel bad for him, but I was mortified at this point. I know what Hexy told me but, I hadn't expected to see it so soon, if at all. But I realized, he was my Pokemon now, and though he committed murder, he wanted to defend me from getting possibly killed by wild Pokemon myself.

I mustered up the courage to yell to him, "Mimikyu". He turned back to me, and I knelt down, "Come back please". He hopped up and down and ran over to me, jumping into my arms. The Pikachu blood smeared on my shirt, but I had a spare in my backpack at least. I wiped away his tears, "Look Mimikyu, I realize how much that costume means to you. So, how about when we hit the nearest Pokemon Center I'll ask a Nurse Joy to fix it for you. I'm not good with clothing but it's better than nothing.

He nuzzled me, and I picked him up, "But listen. No more killing, got it? For me"? He took a minute to finally nod his head, 'Kyu', he said hesitantly. Hexy walked over, "That was pretty wild. To be honest I've seen death before...murder even. That's to be expected from Pokemon, given if anything the Pokedex says is actually true. From soul stealing, to kidnapping and maybe even rape. But, see, Mimikyu is a good Pokemon. Overlooked by those electric furballs really. Everyone wants a Pikachu, know what I mean"?

She then complimented, "But you and him both did good. He obviously did a lot of the work, but I'm impressed on how you handled electricity. For a moment there I thought I'd have to find a new travel partner. But nevertheless, Mimikyu will protect you with his life now". I gave a smile, "Yeah. I believe his intentions. I've just never seen murder before". Hexy grinned in a twisted way, almost like she enjoyed what she said next, "It's a cruel world we live in Larson. Pokemon and people are always out to get you, or one another. We just have to try and do what we can, if we want to, that is". Changing shirts, the two of us kept our journey up, and we came out of the woods to see the river, and Pallet Town right across, but something seemed off, as I didn't see I single person in the distance.
