A/N: I'm aiming to write 100 drabbles and/or double drabbles within one year, using 100 single-word prompts. This is my collection of Merlin drabbles! Unless stated otherwise, none of the drabbles are connected to each other.
This first drabble is set shortly after the end of season three.
DRABBLE ONE – THE TRUTH OF A HEART
Drabble Prompt: Candlelight
"I meant what I said that night," Lancelot murmurs, as the castle readies itself for sleep. The new knights have their own royal chambers, but Lancelot is in Merlin's room tonight, smiling under the candle's soft glow.
In the next room, Gaius snores, and Merlin speaks softly.
"About what?"
"Your courage." Lancelot speaks plainly but there's nothing plain about the look in his eyes. "You're braver than any man I've met."
Merlin wants to protest but Lancelot's gaze stops him. He wonders if he has courage enough to confess the truth of his heart.
Here, tonight, he thinks he might.
