Chapter 1

A group of four teenagers sat in a room in front of a fire. A girl with frizzy brown hair sat curled up in a chair, a book in her hands. A girl with long red hair sat between two boys, one a redhead the other black headed with round glasses, as they played chess. "Are you ready for your birthday 'Mione?" The red headed girl asked looking at the brunette. "I guess, I think the only thing I'm excited about is being able to apparate."

"That'll be nice," The red headed boy said. "Being able to just apparate home instead of taking the train."

"Don't be silly Ron," The girl said. "Hermione will still ride the train with us, right Hermione."

"Of course Ginny, as if I'd leave Ron and Harry on the train by themselves, imagine the trouble they'd get into."

"Oi," The black haired boy said. "I told you Malfoy broke my nose!"

"Which he did because you were trying to spy on him." Hermione argued. "You're still trying to spy on him."

"He's a death eater, and I will prove it." Hermione and Ginny just shook their heads.

"I believe you Harry." Ron said. "Now go, it's your turn." Hermione rolled her eyes as she returned to her book only to let out a gasp a few minutes later. Suddenly a bright light completely engulfed her, blinding her friends. "Bloody hell." Ron exclaimed covering his eyes. Once the light faded a completely different person sat in Hermione's seat. "What?"

"You can't seriously be Hermione." Ron blurted.

"Ron!" Ginny exclaimed going up to her friend. "What he means is...you look different." Hermione raised a quizzical brow then summoned her mirror from upstairs. Upon seeing herself in the mirror she let out a scream. "I'm going to go to Professor McGonagall." With that she ran out of the room.

"Professor McGonagall!" Hermione called knocking on a door. "Professor McGonagall!" The door opened and a woman with long greying hair pulled into a braid glared. "Who are you and why are you waking me up?"

"Professor it's me, Hermione Granger." McGonagall eyed Hermione suspiciously. "The last answer on your last quiz was mandrake root." Hermione said.

"What in Merlin's name? Let's go see Dumbledore." With that McGonagall closed her door and lead Hermione through the castle, to a giant griffin. They knocked on another door. "Come in." A voice said from in the room. McGonagall opened the door and they walked in to find an older man with long grey hair and beard behind a desk while a couple stood in front of a fireplace, a man with greying brown hair and a woman with long black hair. "Ah, Professor McGonagall, so it's one of your students." The man behind the desk said. "Please sit down, everything will be explained." Hermione sat down in front of the desk while McGonagall went and sat behind the desk. Hermione eyed the couple with apprehension. Suddenly the door opened and two men walked in. An older man with shoulder length black hair and a younger man with brown hair, the younger man eyed the couple in front of the fireplace in confusion before being shoved by the older man in the chair beside Hermione before standing behind the desk. "Mister Nott, Miss…" The oldest man looked at McGonagall.

"It's Miss Granger Dumbledore, if you had let us explain." McGonagall said.

"Ah, Miss Granger." Dumbledore said with a nod. "Now let me explain. This, as Mister Nott knows, its Mister and Misses Nott." The couple smiled at the younger Mister Nott who just looked in confusion.

"Now Miss Granger, I do believe Mister and Misses Nott should explain to you what is going on." Dumbledore motioned for the Notts to start.

"So, I'm Adrianna Nott," Misses Nott said. "You can call me Adrianna, and this is Theodore Nott." Mister Nott smiled at Hermione awkwardly. "So the explanation Dumbledore mentioned, when Theo was born, he was actually a twin. With the rise of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, we did not feel comfortable with twins so we agreed to give one up. Unwillingly."

"I have a twin?" Theo asked in shock.

"How did you decide which one to give up?" Hermione asked.

"Either the second born, if both were boys or girls, then the girl if we had one of each." Adrianna said. "We needed a boy to take the Nott name, if we had kept the girl we would have had to have another child."

"I'm guessing that's a pureblood thing." Hermione said.

"It is," Theodore said. "Pureblood tradition dictates that the houses and fortune go to the males while the furniture and other house things go between all of the kids."

"That's stupid, muggles got rid of that decades ago." Hermione grumbled.

"That might be so," Theodore said glancing at his wife. "But this is still the way it is in the wizarding world, amongst purebloods at least."

"Anyway," Adrianna said as Hermione shook her head. "After the two of you were born we had a little christening for you then a family friend that we trust took Tabitha, Hermione, to a muggle orphanage."

"Who?" Theo asked, eyeing the man he came in with.

"Severus did pick out the orphanage, but Lucius and Narcissa took her to it." Adrianna said, noticing her son's look. "We figured Severus could find a good one, we had heard stories of some horrible orphanages, and thought a couple taking her would be better than a man by himself."

"But why Mister and Misses Malfoy?" Hermione asked. "Why Professor Snape, no offense Professor." The older man rolled his eyes.

"Please Miss Granger, after five years of me treating you and your...friends the way I have I understand your disbelief, but I did have friends when I was in school."

"Barely." Theodore scoffed. "Besides Evans you really were only friends with me, Lucius, and Regulus."

"Unlike you and Lucius," Snape drawled. "I am not a naturally social person. I do not enjoy being the center of attention."

"Back on topic," Adrianna chided the two men. "The three of them are your godparents." Hermione's eyes widen and Snape grimaces.

"I think that is enough for tonight," Dumbledore said. "It is late and they have classes in the morning. Though I give you two permission to sleep in, as long as you are up by lunch."

"Thank you Headmaster." Hermione said as Theo gave their parents a good-bye hug. Adrianna went up to Hermione. "You can come over to the Manor this weekend if you want, get to know us better."

"I'll think about it, let you know by lunchtime tomorrow." Hermione said, giving the woman an awkward hug and a small smile to Theodore. The couple left through the fireplace as Snape, McGonagall, Theo, and Hermione walked out of the office telling Dumbledore goodnight. "Shocked?" Theo asked Hermione as they followed the professors.

"Very, what about you? Finding out your twin sister was raised a muggle born." Hermione asked.

"I'm actually happy," Theo said. "Now I can actually be friends with you without Draco having a fit." Hermione laughed.

"Professor Snape," She asked, causing him to look back at her. "How are you feeling about finding out who I was?"

"I knew you would be at Hogwarts, but I expected you to be in Ravenclaw, as your mother was." Snape said.

"Annoyed one of your god kids is in Gryffindor?" McGonagall asked Snape in a teasing tone.

"Yes, actually," Snape said as they stopped in front of the Gryffindor Common Room door. "Now I have to figure out how to hide my favoritism for my godchild. See you in class." With that he walked off.

"Bye Hermione, talk to you in Ancient Runes?" Theo asked.

"Of course." Hermione said waving her twin goodbye.
