Chapter 1

Quirk pains

Hisa P.O.V

I don't get bullies. Bullies suck, not only that but they're also mean; why don't they get that? Back home, I remember a few kids being mean because they had cool quirks.

Until an accident happened to them and then my parents insisted we leave, we came to Japan not too long ago. My sister was the only one that was mean to me but she's little, so it's okay for now.

Oh! Well, HIYYA, I'm Jaden, well now my name is Hisa Chishiya (or is it Chishiya Hisa? Japanese is hard, ya know). My parents said something about Rome when we all got new names. They laughed when I asked to make sure we were in Japan, it would suck if we got on the wrong plane…again.

Speaking of Mommy and Daddy, my Mama has a cool sunlight quirk, while my Dad can lift blocks of the earth without touching them. You know what quirks are right? Us humans have gotten cooler over the years and quirks are mana-man-a manafi- I can't say the word- adjustments that happen from around the time people turn four years old.

I still haven't gotten mine (yet), but I bet it's going to be super cool! I want to be a hero to show all the kids that made fun of me for being a bit small that I can do it too…or maybe just show someone important.

Heroes are cool but I'm not sure that would be the best after I see all the fights they get in. I'll just wait to see what my quirk is!

My sister, Akari is three years old and she had a quirk that was super irritating at times but super useful. She can manipulate sunlight. The doctors said that she'll be able to do more in the future but for now she could make small illusions based on how much sunlight she absorbed during the day. The only time she doesn't have unlimited energy is night but she still holds in extra sunlight from the day.

But it still sucks that she got hers early while I'm still powerless!

Unknown P.O.V

Ah, the boy has finally arrived in Japan. I almost thought I was going to have to go retrieve him myself.

I reached a hand up and snapped. "I want full surveillance of this boy, never interrupt any misfortune that may befall him, wouldn't want to stunt his villain origin story…"

.

(One year later)

Third-person P.O.V

A small dark-skinned boy let out a sigh as he walked out of a park, his head down with his hands shoved within his pockets. "I don't get what they don't understand," The boy said softly in English, "my quirk will come, I have the toe joint thing-y like the rest of you all." His normally long black hair was cut short now and lightly rustled in the wind.

"Why did we have to move?" He asked under his breath. Switching back to a slightly broken Japanese, "Everyone was so much nicer back home,"

His head snapped up towards the street, searching for something. His sister was supposed to be nearby but she wasn't.

Then violet eyes met black eyes.

A small girl with waist-long white hair stood in the middle of the road with her dress blowing lightly in the wind. They felt their surroundings melt away as they stared. They seemed to be scamming each other, waiting for the other to make a move as if it was a game of chess and they were on opposite sides of the board; one sidelight, the other dark.

A shout rang out, causing both children to snap their heads towards the sound. They were both looking, waiting once again.

Hisa looked back at the girl as she still stared in the direction of the shout. Naturally, this being a road, a large eighteen-wheeler truck came barreling down the street.

The girl made no motion to move and Hisa took off running before he could pause and think. Tackling the girl, he covered her body with his right side before the truck made it to her. A large sound of crumpling metal rang out as the earth shook violently. The boy rolled over on the ground as he held the small girl in his arms.

When he stopped rolling…he fainted.

The cops later pulled up after the shaking finished and found the small child on the ground with a bleeding arm, the truck driver trapped inside the vehicle after the whole front crumpled in, and the road was cracked.

Hisa P.O.V

.

I had the weirdest dream…I saw a pretty girl standing in the street and I pushed her so she wouldn't...wait why am I in the hospital?!

I knew it!

I should have eaten an apple. Even though I hate them with every aspect and fiber of my very being!

Wait why does my…

oh.

No wonder I feel like I got hit by a truck because I DID. OH, ALL MIGHT! I'm DONE FOR. MY MOM IS GOING TO KILL ME BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THE TRUCK DIDN'T!

Oh, wait, my mom isn't like that but, Akari on the other hand is going to be super clingy for weeks.

I looked around the room and saw everything was normal except for the fact that my sister was asleep in a weird-looking position. I tried to remember why I was here in the first place, all I know is that my arm and back feel horrid.

Both of my arms were in casts and my back was wrapped up. I looked at the date. It was 2 weeks ago from the last date I remembered…maybe I should watch the news to catch up on lost time.

.

I don't remember falling asleep but I was awaked by the feeling that I was being watched.

I learned my sister was awake the hard way. I almost immediately screamed from the pain because my sister started to literally squeeze the life out of me.

How does this feel worse than the truck?

While she was doing that I couldn't help but wonder if she is trying to kill me (Don't judge, it was a possibility). After she let me go from her death grip I wondered where our mom was, probably just out to get food or at work.

I looked at the TV and saw the date was another week later. Man, I missed a month of school, but not only that, but one of those weeks was hat week!

My sister then punched me in the arm (gently of course because they were still in casts). That's how I learned my arms weren't broken.

"Ow, what was that for?" I asked her.

"You look like your thinking something stupid," she replies in a matter-of-fact tone. Now I'm wondering if her quirk is just being able to mess with people's minds because she could make us see things like that too.

Eventually, a doctor showed up and took off my cast and what I saw surprised me. Image my arm was like a part of a sidewalk. It was cracked, not a lot, it was just a crack on my shoulder and it looked like it was starting to work its way down. It's only an inch now but I feel like it will be longer. Just one crack. I had a feeling that I had one just like it on the other side.

"Well, well, well…looks we got a late bloomer but your quirk seems like it was worth the wait." The doctor says chuckling.

I then replied: "If you say so. Could you tell me what I did? I blacked out after the truck hit me and I don't know why my arms are broken."

The doctor looked at me shocked and turned on the news. They were talking about an earthquake that shook all of East Asia, which happened about a month ago. They were still talking about that? That'ssss…weird.

"That is your quirk," The doctor said; seeming somewhat amused by the situation.

It was probably because maybe my jaw wouldn't lift back up off the floor, "Next week you're going to have your quirk evaluated; you're luckier than most but don't let it go to your head." His tone is playful, though his eyes hold something far more serious, "It could ruin a person's good personality," He concludes.

.

Not very far away

A certain blond sneezed for no apparent reason, blinking a few times before shrugging it off.

.

Now back to the Hospital

I was still shocked that my quirk did this to my arms. Now I hear that I shook all of East Asia and hit the American west coast. Both my sister and I were at a loss for words (rightfully so).

I looked down at my tiny little 5-year-old hands and thought, 'With a power like this, there's no way I could be a hero, huh? I could probably scare a person or two into submission but wouldn't I do more bad than good with this power? *Sniffle* I guess I can't be a hero then'.

.

Unknown P.O.V

"Ah…perfect. My chosen successor has realized their power. Now there is only one thing in the way…"

The towering figure turned to a screen with a young giggling greenette on it. Next to it was a screen with Hisa struggling to get up and go to the bathroom.

.

So the quirk evaluating lady evaluated my quirk, after a bit of back-and-forth arguing that went nowhere- we settled on calling my quirk 'magnitude'. I was let out of the hospital after a week. I think people have been following me to make sure I don't cause trouble, but they always leave after a few hours so they aren't too bad.

My sister and I were on my way home after playing in the park when I heard crying. I saw a kid on the ground and he was crying, three kids were walking away laughing. So I put one and three together. Those other kids just beat up the kid on the ground.

I left Akari to tend to the crying green-haired kid. I walked up to the other kids and said one thing that made them stop in their tracks.

"Leave him alone,"

They turned to me and I could tell the blonde kid was the leader.

"Why are you defending Deku? He's useless without a quirk, " He asked me- well, more like sneered.

I ignore his question and asked one of my own, "That's why you pick on him? Because he doesn't have a quirk?"

The kid smirked, "Yeah and he'll never get one, he's is part of the 20% of people that won't get one." He replied smugly.

This shocked me. I didn't know people could be born without a quirk, "Well then," I say after my brain functioning returns, "I think that you should leave him alone, he's probably already sad enough, no need to fuel the fire."

He scoffs again, and something shimmers in his eyes, as though he's accepting a challenge that wasn't even voiced aloud, "And what are you going to do? You probably got some useless quirk as well!"

'Should I use it? I don't want to hurt someone or get in trouble. Someone will definitely know if I used my quirk.'

"No, I don't," I replied not liking where this is going.

"What-" One of his lackeys joked, trying way too hard to look like the blonde leader- "You don't have a quirk either?"

"Prove it," The blonde boy grinned at how much unease I was in, ignoring what his lackey had just said, the said lackey deflating at the lack of response from the leader.

Well…He asked for it

.

Bakugou P.O.V

This kid thinks he could intimidate me?! Wrong! I AM THE MOST AWESOME PERSON EVER!

"Why are your knees?! Are you going to surrender?" I coo in a baby voice, my smirk widening, "Maybe kiss my bo-"

.

Hisa P.O.V

I cut him off with a small earthquake. He was so surprised that he and his lackeys ran away; figures. I hope I didn't scare them too bad and I hope the kid is alright, I also hope no adult was close enough to notice.

I found him smiling while talking with my sister. He then looked at me with wide eyes and started to back away but I grabbed his arm. I was about to say something but what he said shook me to my core.

"Just make it quick," he said to me quietly.

What?

"What?" I asked. "I'm not like those guys. I'm not going to hurt you," I insist, trying to calm him down.

"You have one thing in common with them," He says to me still as stiff as a brand new brick.

"What would that be?" I ask, disgusted that he thinks I could even have something semi-similar to them.

"You have a cool quirk," He said quietly.

"You don't have many friends…do you?" I asked, my voice as quiet as his own.

"No, I don't…" His voice had yet to rise as he cast his eyes downwards.

"Well," I start, a small yet still present smile on my face, "You have one best friend now."

"Really!?" He asked, starting to get excited.

"Yes, me," I say grinning at him, "I'm Chishiya Hisa by the way, what's your name?"

He looks at me with his eyes shining and a massive smile on his face. "Midoryia Izuku!"

.

After that day, Izuku and I started talking. We were attached by the hip, learning about each other was something we did quickly. He convinced me to become a hero and he could be my sidekick or one of them at least.

While we were talking I swore that I would protect him. He had it hard enough.

.

Then I saw her.

The girl I will deny ever thinking about. Looking at, damn, even knowing about her.

When I thought about her I shoved it as far down as possible, who knows, maybe it'll be swallowed up by the void.

There she was talking to my sister…again.

Then she turned around and walked over to me. She spoke with a deep red spreading on her face. "I never go to say thank you. So um t-thank you Chishiya-Kun"

"No need to do that," I quickly cut her off, gulping down some of the bile rising in my throat from the nervousness, "I think it's safe to say we can be comfortable with one another, c-" My voice broke and I felt the small bit of heat emanating from the tips of my ears. I clear my throat then try again, "Call me Hisa"

'She has such a soft voice' I could feel a bit of the heat spread from my ears to my face.

"Okay. T-thank you Hisa-Kun,"

"N-no problem. I-I never got your name," I stutter back. Since when did I stutter?

"My name is Hope," She says shyly.

.

So through the years, Izuku and I trained together (the best we could) to be heroes. Well, we did until we decided that we should just work on training our minds and my quirk (He insisted. A lot).

In the many years Izuku and I have been friends, he taught me a lot about quirks(My quirk, Akari's quirk, and heroes quirks in general, though occasionally a villain quirk would pop up – how he got the information, I have no idea – but I'm not about to ask).

I always felt he knew more about my quirk than I did and I couldn't have been more right.

He taught me that I don't just make earthquakes. That I could emit something similar to seismic waves.

He realized that I might be able to use my waves to manipulate small bits of the earth like my dad. I learned to make spikes soon after he told me that.

He also figured out that I could use my waves through objects. With a certain amount, I could turn rocks to dust, crack metal (or completely wreak it, as I do to rocks quite often), and even break other's bones(this last one was learned the hard way with some jerks in an alleyway but we don't talk about that unless you need a demonstration).

That was how we learned the weaker side effect of the overuse of my quirk after some time without a break (I mean using the waves repeatedly). My skin cracks where I use it and it starts to bleed after a little more use. The bleeding is never bad but it is noticeable.

Akari could glow. She could also focus her sunlight into a laser beam that was well… You could figure that out (just think for a second. It's a focused beam of sunlight, and with a girl that is crazy inside and out) and make illusions by messing with the lighting.

She is a deadly glow stick that can make you hallucinate. With a flashlight.

.

Hope is an interesting topic. She went in and out of our lives until about 7th grade. She had to leave to take care of a sick relative. Hadn't seen her since, and sometimes, just sometimes, Hope could slip from my mind; just to be remembered once more when reminded of her(or even just the word hope).

.

Even though the three of us had matured doesn't mean that others did as well. Bakugou (or Kacchan as Izuku calls him. Reason: I don't know) continued to try and bully Izuku.

Whenever they teased him about not having a date for a dance or something this is what happened. Akari went with him and I became their bodyguard for the event. To make sure Izuku didn't make any moves towards my sister (I know he sees Akari like a sister but I can't take that kind of risk.) and of course, protect Izuku from any bullies.

.

Back in the present day, I was on my way to pick up Izuku and walk home with him when I saw him take his notebook out of a pond. He looked sadder than normal and his notebook was blown to bits. Katsuki. My mind nearly growls at well…me.

When he saw me he unloaded the whole day he had on me. How Kastsuki had told him he couldn't be a hero without and quirk and how he should take a swan dive off the roof and hope for a quirk in his next life.

I thought back to this morning when he was on his way to school. 'Kacchan' was about to beat up Izuku with his quirk but I step in. Before he and his lackeys could lay a finger on him, I had used my quirk.

.

Earth Spikes

.

9 spikes erupted from the ground, three for the head of each of them (why does he always go around with two lackeys?).

One had looked directly at me and nearly screamed, "HEY! THAT ILLEGAL!" because I was too far away for them to hit me but close enough for them to see me

I simply walk over calmly so they could hear me, steadily aware that I was in close proximity to a living time bomb. Quite literally, "So is quirkless decimation. Now keep it moving before I make you."

The lackeys ran off without their leader. Shocking isn't it? They found me to be scarier than their leader.

As they scampered off with their tail between their legs I muttered under my breath. "Douchebags"

Bakugou recognized me and yelled at me per normal, "HEY WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR?"

Izuku didn't even notice. Good. Now I can beat the crap out of Bakugou without worrying about Izuku, but I didn't feel like doing that. I grab Bakugos shoulder and turn him to face me. He tried to punch me with his palm exploding but I knocked it aside easily.

"Do you remember what you said? About him? About how he was useless. I just want to tell you something," I lower my voice to not alert Izuku, and Bakugou appeared to be listening; but was he?

He looked at me anger growing on his face but said anyway, "What is it?" So he was listening. I was somewhat taken back by the fact he wasn't yelling, just talking...like a normal person. Weird.

"He's not useless." I pointed to the spikes."He taught me how to do that"

I walked up to the spikes and placed a hand on one.

'Magnitude 5%'

I turned them to dust one by one and turned to Bakugo who was just staring at me.

"He taught me that and helped me with much more. Maybe you should be nice to him and he could help you out"

I left heading to school. Leaving behind a fuming Bakugo.

I guess I pissed him off more than normal.

.

While Izuku had his mind buried in his thoughts while I struggled(and failed) to pull him out. I hadn't noticed the sound of a villain sneaking out of the sewer. I was hit in the back of the head and flung into the side of the bridge we were under.

Then I saw something grab Izuku and tried to enter his mouth.' Dear God, that sounded so sus'

then I thought 'Really? Izuku is struggling to breathe and that's what your thinking?'

While I was doing that in my head my body went on autopilot. I shifted my foot on the ground.

.

"Earth Spikes"

.

3 spikes shot out the ground and were close to impaling Izuku. That was ineffective in taking down the villain. Of course. The thing is made of some kind of slime. I haven't tried to see if my waves work through water or any liquids. Well, this isn't going to be bad at all. If it doesn't work I could hit Izuku or cause the bridge to collapse. Well...YOLO.

I slammed my fist into the sludge as I yelled.

.

"Magnitude 5%!"

.

It shoved the villain back a little but the bridge started to crack. I can't use more than 5% or the bridge will fall on our heads. I don't like to use more than 5% anyway. It gets... bad for whatever or whomever I use more than 5% on. I yelled hoping someone would hear me and come to help.

I heard the villain say "Interesting. Two boys. I know one has a strong quirk but the one I have is easy pickings."

I gritted my teeth and prepared for a larger scale magnitude punch but I didn't have to. All Might busted through the sewage place that I assume this villain came from.

All Might went for... you can guess what after I was smacked to the side of the tunnel.

After we settled from the shock waves, I ended up in a tree, Izuku was just on the ground and All Might put the villain in two bottles.

I got up as quickly as possible and walked over to Izuku, grabbed his recently destroyed notebook, and turned to All Might.

"Could you sign this? He is one of your biggest fans. I think he is planning on naming his children after you. Izuku is his name."

All Might looked slightly taken back and simply said "Okay"

.

I put the signed book back with Izuku, pulled out my phone, and started recording.

All Might was quickly giving Izuku several quick slaps to the check until he woke up. I was laughing super hard at Izukus fanboy reaction until he grabbed All Might's leg as All Might jumped away.

I ran as fast as I could to keep up with them.

I saw All Might deflate on the top of a roof and saw him pause. I knew what was happening. I didn't care that I had just seen All Might the big muscle man deflated to a small skeleton looking like a man. Izuku was going to ask if he could be a hero.

That idiot. Does he not believe me whenever I tell him?

I TELL HIM TWICE A DAY. I tell him that if he works hard he can do anything. Why does he think I hang out with him? I'm here to boast him up. Does he think I hung out with him FOR THE PAST 11 YEARS BECAUSE I PITTYED HIM?

I hopped All Might would help me but I had my doubts. All Might is one of those heroes with a powerful quirk. Even if no one knows what it is, anyone could tell it's powerful. Possibly one of the most powerful around.

I quickly ran as fast as I could trying to reach Izuku before he got crushed.

Come on Izuku! Without you, I don't know where I would be. I could have been labeled a villain for not mastering my quirk. Now that I can use it correctly I can do so much more thanks to you! I'd be in a hella lot more pain if it wasn't for you.
