Prologue
Yu'ta knew this day would come. The Cold Force—no, the Frieza Force, was feared across the galaxy. Like a ravenous beast, it consumed territory after territory. What made their home any different from the other countless planetoids dotting the stars? The smell of burning Freyon in the atmosphere invaded the scarred slits on his face. A pungent smell, but a decent warning sign. To signify the death of a planet.
Out of Frieza's men, there were none more terrifying than the Saiyans. Thought destroyed by a meteorite colliding with their planet many years ago, they were long deemed dead. Which made it all the more surprising to the Xilian when a small child with a tail emerged from the spacecraft hovering over their head. It was but a boy… through sensing his power, it was clear he was anything but. The aura shrouding his body, visible only to those who knew how to harness their own power, flickered like an ever-burning flame. Though, oddly enough, it had no hateful scent to it. Xilians could smell emotional changes, yet the long-snouted martial artist couldn't trace a single feeling… besides excitement. In a flash, the body disappeared, trailing a red streak behind it as the form struck the majority of the royal guards, systematically and methodically knocking them out as if he didn't want to kill them. Until finally, the figure reached Yu'ta. And as the small-statured warrior prayed for his comrade's imminent rise to heaven (and his own) to be a peaceful one, he felt a tap on his shoulder.
"Hey! You're the strongest guy here, right? Let's fight!" The child now stood in front of Yu'ta. Upon closer inspection, his fear only rose higher. Adorned upon his armor's left breast was the symbol of the Vegeta royal family. The last living prince stood before him in all his glory, spiked hair pointing directly upward as though it were a crown.
"I… suppose so." Yu'ta carefully examined the prince's facial expressions and stance. He wasn't poised to kill in any refined stance he had ever seen, in fact, Vegeta was rather bouncy, shifting his weight from foot to foot.
"Wait a sec, not here! People could get hurt." Before people could get hurt? Yu'ta was thoroughly enraged now. Was this some form of sick joke? Vegeta, the herald of Frieza's everlasting reign of terror, was trying to spare them. Perhaps to watch them be executed later, he thought. No matter, he would comply to keep his people safe. And so, the pair flew off into the indigo sky, away from civilization to carry out their battle.
On planet Earth, deep in the forested mountains of Mount Paozu, a sabertoothed cat slams into a bamboo stalk, tumbling to the lush grass below him. The predator's vision fills with spots momentarily, shaking it's head once, twice, three times to rid himself of them. In the time he had blacked out, the apex predator was gone. His left hind leg was broken, dealt by a devastating blow from the creature he was facing. There was no time to waste, he had to fight back… but how? It's teeth, while able to pierce it's skin, only served to make it madder. Before it could form another thought, a wash of heat passed through his midsection. The momentary thought of exhaustion and possible sickness passed through his mind before the sabertoothed tiger slumped over. Dead.
He could smell meat. It seems his stray ki blasts downed the prey. Callused hands pushed aside stray reeds, pulling them apart should one have the audacity to stand in his way. The same went for these 'predators' that damned geezer told him about. Like leaves on the winds, they were usually easy to swat aside… but this one personally irked him. Nothing except for the old man was able to draw his blood before. This planet's strongest man. He felt content after besting and executing him in their final duel to the death, on top of the world within his own mind. His bride, unbreakable. Until this wily beast heard his exhausted breath and attacked from the shadows. Like a coward. Like a CHEATER. And if there was anything Son Goku despised, it was a cheater. After tromping through tall grass and the occasional patch of mud for ten minutes or so, Goku finally found it. The saber-toothed cat that dared attack him, the strongest being in on the planet—no, the UNIVERSE. His pride wouldn't allow this THING to live. Bending down to pick up the predator by the scruff of its neck, Goku smirked. He was incapable of sewing his torn gi, and the old man's clothes wouldn't fit. The meat and pelt of the cat would keep him clothed and fed for a day or so, considering his aptitude for combat and abnormal hunger. Goku sheathed his power pole, hoisted the cat over his shoulder, and walked home.
Vegeta awoke once more, startling awake at the sound of his pod's doors opening. The conquering of planet Xileria was a success. Once more, his superior grit came out on top, his constant hunger for battle pushing him to combat stronger foes. Of course, to motivate others to become stronger, Vegeta spared as many people as he could, leaving them to train and grow. Watching species on other planets grow stronger under Frieza's rule gave Vegeta a reason to live. All other matters besides training and eating were quite boring to the prince, but he still tried his best to remain strong in body and mind. As such, a follow-up debriefing and mandatory classes were required post-mission. However, before Vegeta can make his way down the hall, a gloved purple hand clasps on his shoulder. Cui.
The following will be in short descriptions, reminiscent of MasakoX's what-if videos.
As Vegeta and Cui were both indoctrinated into Frieza's army and were stated to be rivals for years with around the same power level, I've decided to take the Goku-Krillin approach. Vegeta was elated to have a sparring partner who was stronger than him and repeatedly challenged Cui to fights. Despite the brutal beatings he could attain, he always gained new experience in battle and grew via zenkai boosts. Alongside this, constant missions together and training experiences meant Cui's initial hatred for Vegeta slowly eroded away into a comrade-esque bond. As for the here and now, Cui stopped Vegeta momentarily to warn him of upcoming planetary challenges. Cui leaves Vegeta to be with a wave, as the prince returns to Nappa and Raditz. Vegeta and Raditz have a closer bond, as well Vegeta may be the prince and Raditz a low-class Saiyan, Vegeta disregards the notion of class systems entirely. As long as they're strong or friendly, he doesn't quite care. He is a care-free lad after all. The only prior issue they had was Nappa's constant nagging, which the two boys ignore. In this universe, Raditz has grown in power. While Vegeta is much stronger than Raditz, their friendship means they spar for casual fun and play when not on duty more often. Vegeta wants his friends to be on equal footing with him, and thusly, trains Raditz personally.
Prince Vegeta: 20,000 (zenkai boosts from training with Cui and Raditz).
Nappa: 7,000 (grew slightly from canon due to fight with Prince Vegeta, but abstains from training with them due to classism).
Raditz: 16,000 (constant training with Vegeta + zenkai boosts).
Cui: 19,000 (Vegeta's ever-growing power and their rivalry along with Raditz' quickly rising power level inspired Cui to take up training).
Son Goku: 160 (killed Grandpa Gohan after years of training and following his teachings to the letter).
