Don't own Danny Phantom or Mha.
Danny's life was anything but normal.
Coming from a family of ghost hunters, he knew that he would see an odd sighting or two. Whether it be from his parents and their weird, but helpful inventions or the actual existence of ghosts. Turning into a half-ghost at the age of 14 was just the icing on the cake.
Now, at the age of 30, he was still doing the whole ghost hunting bit with his best friend Tucker Foley and Sam Mason (Although he supposed it's now Sam Fenton). However, they were now together to do one last job that may put an end to ghost appearances for the rest of their days with the help of clockwork. With the time ghost warning them to make a device that will emit frequencies that will cause all portals to the Ghost Zone to close for a period of time. While the trio were hesitant to put the plan into action, they ultimately agreed after the time ghost saved them on numerous occasions.
While Danny's parents were now retired, they were still the world's leading experts on anything involving ghosts, and they wasted no time in getting the device ready for the three to use. With the emitter looking like a router and being connected to solar energy, so the frequencies would always be active to shut down any stray portals that may appear anywhere on earth.
The three were already in position, with Tucker manning the computer ready to shut down all ghost portals coming into their world, and Danny in his human form looking between the ghost and his friends in concern.
"Are you sure about this?"
"Trust me," Clockwork cast an image of a glowing baby for the half-ghost and his friends to see, "With what is coming, ghost hunting will be the last thing that will be on your mind."
The trio didn't like the way how ominous he said that line as they nodded to each other to continue. With Tucker typing in the commands for the device while Danny started to question the ghost some more.
"What is going to happen? What is so bad that even you, the master of time, went behind your fellow ghosts' back to keep them trapped in the Ghost Zone? You know that that device won't last forever."
The ghost sighed as he shifted to his elder form while tucker paused in his typing to listen in, while Sam looked on in concern.
"You know that I can tell you what is going to happen, it may change the outcome.", the trio looked a bit upset with that answer before he spoke again, "But I will say this, that whatever is going to happen, it's going to impact the whole world, not just Amity Park. And you can't help if you are fighting ghosts on the side."
The three looked down in thought. Something that will even take up the time they used in ghost hunting?
"Danny.", the ghost called out to break him from his thoughts, "If there's anything that I can tell you about the future it's this. There will be a time when another Danny Phantom to take your place, but you won't be around to see it."
The three gasped, another half-ghost like him?
"But for that to happen, I need some things to happen before I can go to the Ghost Zone in content.", the man snapped to attention, ready to listen, "When all is said and done, I need all of your parents' inventions and blueprints in one building, so that I can teleport them to the correct place when the time comes. I also need you to make training tapes describing each invention and the use of your powers if you can."
His gaze turned a bit sympathetic as he looked at the half-ghost in his child form, "I know that it will be hard giving up your family's belongings, but there is really no rush for it. I can just pop out at any time to teleport the goods to the correct person."
While Danny was a bit sad that his family legacy was pretty much going to a complete stranger, he knew that if Clockwork was requesting it must've been dire for him to do so. Even so, there was just one that he had to know...
"Who is it? Who will become the next Danny Phantom?"
The ghost saw no harm in showing them the successor and cast various other images of a person with the familiar jumpsuit of Danny Phantom with the iconic letter in the middle of his chest. Though that was where the similarities ended, as the person had a freckled face with the white hair being on messy curls.
They also say various other images, some they recognized some they did not. Like the new ghost going against some giant monster with the brain on the outside of his body or fighting with skulker and ember along with another boy with purple messy hair and a girl with... jacks on the end of her ears?
The ghost ceased the images before turning to them once more, "That is Izuku Midoriya, who is to be the next Danny Phantom. He is worthy of your power and your family's inventions, but the choice is still yours."
Danny looked at his two friends, who only looked on in concern as he made his choice. He would have to give up his life of ghost hunting. Going back to a time with the world not needing a Danny Phantom for the time being until the supposed new threat arrived.
But then he looked over to Sam and Tucker, and he managed to smile at the two. Who were always there for him no matter if he had any ghost powers or not. He knew that somehow; they would be able to manage a life without ghosts.
He sighed, but a slight smile was formed on his face as his eyes steeled with resolve, "Ok, I agree. I will bring my family inventions and gadgets for him to use."
He then called for Tucker to start up the program, who immediately typed the rest of it before entering it into the device. Which started to hum and buzz a bit before standing idly still with a steady blink going through.
Tucker and Sam looked at the device with a bit of confusion, as it didn't seem like much to keep ghosts out of their world. Though they didn't have to wait for an explanation as Danny explained that while most portals were still there, it only allowed ghosts to go into the Ghost Zone, not out.
"Neat. So I guess we're not totally ghost-free for the time being.", Sam said with a smirk.
"Yup. I guess the band is back together for one last round of ghosts hunting.", Tucker added with a smile as he threw arms around the two's neck.
Clockwork nodded before heading towards the Fenton Portal as he looked onto Danny one last time to give him some reassurance, "Don't worry Danny, Izuku will be just a good a hero as you were. I'm certain of it."
The ghost entered the portal to leave the three to discuss their new fate. Although he was in the Ghost Zone with all of the other ghosts who were unaware of their situation, he did have other means of going through the real world. Making it towards his place, he viewed Midoriya who was already walking towards home with his head down on a certain afternoon.
"I hope your ready Izuku, cuz your life is about to get a whole lot interesting."
So in case it was unclear, ghosts exist in the MHA world, but are trapped in the ghost zone while the world dealt with the appearance of quirks. Next time, Midoriya finds the supposed building where he gets his powers.
