Tsuna

I don't own KHR.

At first, Tsuna had honestly thought that he had messed up.

When he told Reborn that he wasn't going to become the next Vongola boss, Tsuna had actually been lying. Ever since the Vongola Trial of Succession, Tsuna had been slowly getting used to the idea of becoming the 10th boss of Vongola. Of course, he was going run things his way by making the family go back to their vigilante roots but still, he was going to be a permanent part of the mafia world.

He had thought about telling Reborn this but then Tsuna remembered all the absolute chaos the little tutor had put him through and decided to have a little...fun with him. Yes, it had been completely spiteful of him but after all the tutoring Reborn had given him, Tsuna had thought it was only fair.

But then Reborn replied that he had no longer had any business with him and promptly left. Tsuna had been worried but told himself that Reborn was just messing with him. But when he failed to return for two whole days, that was when Tsuna thought he had gone too far.

Luckily, before he could truly panic and do something that could really set him back (aka, pay Mammon to find Reborn), he heard from Yamamoto that Mammon was growing rapidly. However, as a result, this was making Mammon really sick, high fever, body aches, and all. According to Yamamoto, Squalo told him that he and the other Varia were making bets if Mammon actually survived to be an adult or not (Varia code for 'we might be a bit concerned').

Tsuna then acted on a hunch and went to Hibari and managed to get from him that Fon was also growing at an exponential rate while being really ill. Not long after that piece of information, he found out from Gokudera that Shamal had left right around the same time as Reborn. That was when Tsuna knew for certain that Reborn hadn't left because he was disappointed with Tsuna, but because he knew he was going to be sick and didn't want anyone else but Shamal to see him like that.

While he was concerned about Reborn's health, he took comfort in the fact that Shamal had put aside his 'only woman patients' rule to look after him. Not to mention, Reborn was the strongest hitman in the world. Tsuna had complete faith that his tutor would be just fine and would return to him in time. He just had to wait.

After Reborn had been gone for a whole week, Tsuna woke up to someone pulling his cover over his shoulders.

Still really tired, Tsuna cracked open his eyes to see a man standing over him. He had dark hair, sideburns that curled at the end, and a pacifier on a string around his neck. Despite the room covered in the darkness of the night, Tsuna could tell that the pacifier was yellow.

Realizing that Reborn and the man who had helped him out with Iemitsu were the same person (as he suspected right after the Representative battle. He blamed the stress of the situation for not realizing the truth sooner), Tsuna slightly smiled and closed his eyes again. He was too tired and comfortable to either comment or greet Reborn right now, he would do so in the morning.

Then unexpectedly, Tsuna felt a hand brush his unruly hair out of his forehead.

"Did you panic when I left? Or did you expect that I would return?" a deep voice muttered softly yet clearly. Then Tsuna felt a portion of his bed sink right as his left arm felt what seemed to be a leg gently press against it.

And all the while, Reborn kept combing his fingers through Tsuna's hair.

"I admit, I myself wasn't expecting to leave so soon after that," Reborn continued quietly. "I was also expecting to go back to my true form sooner, if not immediately after you broke the curse, but I guess Checkerface wanted one more laugh at our expense."

Tsuna didn't respond, neither did he open his eyes as his exhausted mind and body reveled in the soothing physical contact Reborn was giving him.

"But look who is laughing now. Not only am I back to my true form, but I can continue to teach you, my special student, and see you grow to be the great man I know you will become. I am truly thankful to you Tsuna, more than you might ever know."

Then Reborn stopped combing his fingers through Tsuna's hair and presumably stood up if Tsuna feeling his bed spring back up was any indication.

"I hope you liked your week-long break because tutoring starts back up again tomorrow, Neo Vongola Primo. And it won't be easy either, especially since I know you were just being spiteful when you told me you still didn't want to be a mafia boss a week ago. But you can do it, you're Tsuna."

Then with one last head pat, Tsuna heard Reborn walk away to the other side of the room, presumably to turn in for the night. Tsuna briefly wondered what he meant by Neo Vongola Primo, as well as what Reborn held in store for him tomorrow but he quickly dismissed it.

He was just simply too tired, comfortable, and most importantly, content to worry about it right now. So with an almost impossibly warm heart, Tsuna promptly fell right back to the world of dreams.

I think I leave if Reborn knew Tsuna was awake or not up to you.

So what do you think? Were the characters too OOC, was the flow of the story good, etc? Please on your way out leave your thoughts in a review so I can improve on the next chapter. Until I update again, have a good day/night!
