Formerly just: "Lord Uzumaki."
I'm going to be working on editing this fic, But I've decided that it just needs a few minor tweeks, and then I will be continuing it.
Edited: as of November 2021.
• Prologue
All Shinobi know the story, of how Princess Kaguya Ōtsutsuki ate some forbidden fruit and gained Chakra. How she went mad when she learned she passed it to her children and attempted to shatter the world to get it back under her control... How her children sealed her away after she became the first demon... if only the real thing was so simple.
It is strange how much Legend and myth has developed into the origins of the Shinobi race. But the Uzumaki Clan know the Truth. Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, the supposed god of the Shinobi, was nothing more then a traveller from the stars. Despite the myths, he didn't actually sire the Shinobi race. He merely taught the World how to control what was already their's.
Fact of the matter is, Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, wasn't the first to possess Chakra. There was no magic fruit or demonic 10 tail... it's actually quite weirder then that.
• Chapter 1:
Minato Namikaze, The fourth great leader of Konoha Village, the fourth "Hokage" as it were... was having a stressful day. His spies had informed him that Kiri had formed a temporary Alliance with the villages of Kumo and Iwaga.
They had stopped attacking each other, long enough to mount an attack against Uzushio... 10s of thousands were slaughtered.
Konoha had been Uzushio's allies for hundreds of years... they were supposed to protect them from things like this. Yet the enemy villages attacked with such precision and stealth. Even moving their troops so it seemed like they were going to attack each other. Before joining together and marching towards Uzushio.
Minato didn't realize anything was wrong until it was too late to act. And now, as a result of his failure, thousands of refugees were waiting at Konoha's gates...
He would of course, allow them to re-supply but he didn't know what more he could realistically give them. Harboring that many refugees would make them a target for Kiri. When he was in the middle of peace talks, openly welcoming their enemy would have horrible consequences?
"Hokage-Sama," stepped in The wolf ANBU, the teenage boy that Minato had trained himself. The child was wearing the dark, light weight, armor of such a black ops shinobi. Along with a custom porcelain mask, in the design of his animal code name.
"Yes, Wolf-san," Minato smiled, his day just a little brighter on seeing his young apprentice. At being reminded of how much the boy had accomplished in his short few years. Minato truly felt nothing but pride at the boy's masked face.
"The Leaders of the Uzumaki clan are here to make their formal request." ah... yeah... that was a good way to ruin his day. Turning them all away was going to be a horrific experience.
"I wouldn't say 'Leaders'," an odd voice spoke, Minato couldn't even place the gender... yet something told him it was a 'he' but that might be his own bias.
Minato couldn't even remember the sound of their voice despite hearing it a moment ago. "More a good samaritan, that sounds more like me. He's the leader,"
A hand pointed at Ashina, the Uzumaki elder... yet Minato couldn't look at the hand. Minato new someone was with him. Could recognize his gestures and even what he was saying... yet the Hokage couldn't force his eyes to look at... anything about him. None of his senses wanted to register this man even existed... and if it hadn't been for the fact he spoke... Minato would never have known he was in the room.
Ashina sighed, "Lord Uzumaki, please, this is serious."
Minato stiffened, "Lord Uzumaki?... the ancestral god of the Uzumaki Clan?" and savior of his students. By Kakashi's nod, the boy confirmed this was indeed the same man that save them all those years ago... or at the very least the teenager recognized the Jutsu being used to cloak him.
The figure shrugged. Minato could register the movement. He wasn't invisible, if he was a he... He seemed to be emitting some powerful genjutsu, tricking all senses not to notice him. It took every bit of Minato's Shinobi skill to make out the movements.
"I'm not a god," The voice, that sounded like truly nothing, spoke with a sneer, "Gods are petty little things that sit in their higher planes, passing judgment on 'lowly mortals'. All the while demanding they feed them with their prayers. I actually do something, thank you very much."
"A Demon then?" Minato eyed.
The figure raised an eyebrow... strange that Minato could notice that, but not said eyebrow's color.
"I'm not one of your Yokai either." Insisted the figure, "Just a very old man... that would like to make sure my grandchildren are taken care of."
... that... was possible. The more powerful Shinobi were capable of greatly extending their lifespan... supposedly they could absorb so much Chakra from their surroundings they could live for thousands of years...
So this ment Lord Uzumaki wasn't a myth, nor a god, just an incredibly powerful Shinobi that was looking after his descendants... which would explain how so many survived the attack against Uzushio... which ment irritating this man would not be wise...
The figure reached into his pocket and pulled out a large thick scroll... easily wider (and longer) then his leg, so he must be dressed in some pretty expensive Shinobi gear to have such massive things contained in little pockets. Shinobi were familiar with the concept of "Bigger on the inside", and in fact the most common piece of Shinobi gear was a pouch of holding with similar a enchantment... albeit not as powerful.
The figure casually walked over to the desk, and carelessly dropped the scroll on the Hokage's desk.
"What's this?" Minato asked.
"Your payment." Informed the man, "I realized taking an entire clan of Refugees would be... problematic. So in return for accepting my grandchildren, giving them land to build on, and the full rights as a clan of your village-" just what did he think he had that could possibly be worth all that?... and including protection from the mist village?
"I will entrust you... with everything I know of magic." the figure blushed, "Sorry that's what we called it in my day. I meant I'll give you all my 'Jutsus'."... just how old was this guy? Chakra manipulation wasn't refered to as "magic" for near 10 thousand years. Long before the Shinobi villages popped up.
Minato nearly fell out of his chair. A Shinobi as old as this... was just handing his entire backlog of Jutsus to a stranger.
"Provided they stay between yourself and the Uzumaki Clan." The figure smiled. Of course there would be a catch... but that wasn't much of one. "But since the Uzumaki Clan will be working for you, and all future Hokages, that isn't such a large draw back." he pointed out the obvious, "Mind you the only reason I am comfortable with this arrangement is because of who your wife is. So that you may teach the next Generation of Uzumaki their birthright."
Minato noticed the Wolf tense. The man couldn't blame the boy for losing his composure... it was an S ranked secret the Hokage was married, much less that his wife was with child... her being an Uzumaki wasn't enough to explain that knowledge leaking out... they hadn't told ANYONE outside those they considered family. The knowledge alone could be dangerous... and this man just blurted it out...
The man continued to smile, "Personally, I thought it was adorable you made Kakashi here the ring bearer." Then patted the Wolf's head... perhaps he was just flexing how much he knew about the village secrets... He even knew the identities to one of Konoha's Black Ops... possibly a great many of them.
The figure was making it clear, as non threateningly as possible... he had vast knowledge of Konoha's inner workings... knowledge too dangerous to let slip out into the world... He was threatening with a stick, while offering a carrot in the form of vast clan secrets.
Minato wouldn't cave so easily, but he couldn't afford to let the Uzumaki Refugees take this knowledge elsewhere. "I will take you up on your offer... if you agree to teach me, and my apprentices, personally."
The man stiffened, becoming more serious as he looked Kakashi up and down. Then looking back at Minato, "I am only willing to teach you, because your family, albeit by Marriage. I suggest you don't try for further exceptions." There was an edge of finality to those words.
Minato didn't back down, "Kakashi's family have past. As his Sensei, I hold legal rights over him. The boy is MY family. If you want me to accept yours. I expect the same courtesy."
Kakashi looked touched by the sentiment.
The figure didn't look angry at the concept, but not convinced, "You seem to be forgetting that your other apprentices are from prominent clans."
"Perhaps." Ashina got everyone's attention. "We could come to a compromise. If the clans agreed to arrange a marriage, with the kids joining the Uzumaki Clan, we would be happy to teach them all our Clan Jutsus. We will even surrender a few Jutsus, not many, but some, to the clans as compensation."
Minato thought on that... "The Uchiha Clan would have trouble surrendering their bloodline traits... which they could use to duplicate much of your Jutsus."
Ashina frowned, looking considerate. "What I know of the Uchiha clan, they would indeed be resistant to such a trade..."
Lord Uzumaki waved off, "Not a fan of marriage contracts anyway... but If the kids join the Uzumaki Clan, and be allowed to choose their own significant others within the clan... I suppose I could make the concession. I have things need doing, can't afford to stay in one spot. But I will agree to teach you everything I am willing, and give you permission to teach that to your current apprentices and any children you have with Kushina. If the kids clans agree to this, I will bind the children's genetics so they can't pass any bloodline traits to my clan.
"And in return... I don't know, I'll give them a few thousand bars of gold or something." he waved off, completely uninterested. "That's still a thing right? A dowry? I'm not comfortable surrendering Jutsus. Ashina only offered that because he thinks it's all we have to bargain with, but my personal resources stretch quite far."
Minato was more concerned with the other thing the man suggested. "You... you would agree to seal their genetics?"
Lord Uzumaki gave yet another shrug, "I want the kids in my family so that others can't steal my Clan's Jutsus. I don't care about the kids bloodlines, I want them, themselves."
• 3 Years Ago:
Obito groaned as he felt his body cry out in numbed pain. it was odd, like a thousand needles piercing him at once. Not painfully, more like the entire left side of his body was asleep.
He looked up to see an old man with messy white hair... talking to someone who could not be seen. Obito knew there was someone else present, but couldn't make out their features... or even remember the sound of his voice despite remembering the words.
"Lord Uzumaki..." The old man eyed.
"Madara..." said the unseen man.
"I take it you're here to kill me?" The old man smiled, as if relishing such an attempt. "You always did have a soft spot for children. You should be grateful I chose to save him."
"I'm not here to kill you," assured Lord Uzumaki, "Your goals, however unethical, are necessary to preserve the timeline. They reek of fixed points that must always happen... but, as you well know, I can't sit back and let you corrupt an innocent. You believe you need an Apprentice, to continue your monstrous work... I offer you... an alternative... something that will help you fulfill your goals yourself."
"Really now?" Madara sighed, visibly disappointed that there would be no attempt on his life... he looked like the type of man that relished a good fight. Obito had seen Shinobi like that all throughout the War he was currently fighting... they always made his skin crawl...
"I will give you back your Youth, in exchange for you freeing the child."
Madara froze, his sinister demeanor lost.
"A young man has no use for an heir." Stressed Lord Uzumaki.
• Present Day:
"So... you aren't a Uchiha anymore?" Tobi really was tactless.
Obito Uchiha rolled his mismatched eyes, at his best friend, and distant cousin. Obito was busy packing up his stuff. His grandmother demanded a large dowry for him, in addition to the money the Uzumaki handed over to the Head of the Uchiha Clan... and a promise that Obito would be allowed to visit her at least once a week (provided he wasn't on a mission away from the village).
Obito's parents died a long time ago. The boy didn't have any real memories of them... he had been raised by his grandmother... she was kinda strict and stuffy, but Obito loved her all the same.
"Is it true they cut off your balls?"
"Geeez Tobi!!!" Obito blushed, throwing a pillow at his friend, "No they didn't cut off my balls!!!... They put a seal on me, so my kids couldn't inherit the Sharingan... but I can still use it."
"... Did they put it on your dick?"
"NO!" Obito growled, "Seriously get your mind out of the gutter!!!"
"Where they put it?" Tobi near begged, "Can I see!!!"
Obito rolled his eyes, yet again, then closed them while taking off his goggles. Showing off identical seals on the back of each eye... as well as the large scar across his left eye...
"... you seriously have the worse luck." Tobi sighed, "The Clan is pissed enough at you for giving one of your eyes to that Traitor's spawn. But I never figured they would kick you out for it!"
Obito groaned, "I'm not being banished, dick wad! Is a marriage contract. Clans do things like this every day. Besides, that was years ago!!! If they were going to banish me, they should have done it a long time ago."
Tobi sighed, "I guess... but I can't help but feel they wouldn't have taken this deal if it had been anyone else. Lesser clans trade kids, not ones with bloodline traits."
Obito sighed, "Yeah... I got that impression to..." closing his bag.
• 3 Years Ago:
Rin stood to the side, begging Kakashi to kill her so that she couldn't be used to destroy the village. She had the 3 tail sealed inside her body, waiting like a ticking time bomb... waiting to destroy her village... she could never go home... it was too dangerous... the lives in the village were more important then her own.
"Please, Kakashi... you have to..." Rin stressed. the other boy shook his head, clearly wanting to reject this.
"No," The kids stopped at the voice, "He doesn't," they both turned to him, to see Obito leaning against nothing as he walked towards them.
On closer inspection, they realized it wasn't Obito who spoke. There was a man there, carrying the 14 year old boy.
The figure gently sat Obito on a nearby bolder, as the two teens ran over. Before they could reach him, the Figure that refused to be seen, whipped his hand at Rin's exposed stomach. There was a series of quick finger movements, too fast to stop, before he calmly started to walk away. Leaving behind a seal on Rin's stomach.
"That will contain the Yokai," Explained the man as he walked down the road, away from Konoha. "and let you draw on it's power. I suggest you go on and run a few test on it. But that's more to put your own worries at ease."
"Wait!!!" Kakashi yelled and the figure stopped. "Who are you? what-" the boy immediately froze, hearing Obito's groan of pain, and looked back to him.
Obito was reaching up to rub at his bandaged eye... but unfortunately Rin grabbed his arm to stop him... she looked at him with such tears... and he couldn't blame her.
That bolder had crushed half his body. It was a miracle the first Uchiha found him and chose to reassemble the dust of his bones... especially when considered that old man left Konoha hundreds of years ago, due to disagreements with the first Hokage... then Lord Uzumaki appears and buys the boy only to return him to his teammates... it really was a miracle everything just worked out like that.
This mission had gone so wrong... and left scars on them all. Yet they were all still alive, still kicking... by the way Kakashi was staring at the biggest failure of the Uchiha clan... things had definitely changed their... the boys shared a look as Obito spoke... they both knew they couldn't just go back to hating each other. The bonds of war had been sown, they really were a team now... after everything they had been through... Obito dying and giving over his eye to Kakashi so that he could save Rin... they were brothers at arms...
"He said his name is... 'Lord Uzumaki'..." Obito groaned again. Causing Rin to run a medical scanning Jutsu. Obito continued to explain, as she fussed. "He basically bought me from some guy named 'Madara'... I actually think it was THE Madara..."
Kakashi's eyes widened, looking back at the figure... but now the man was gone... there was no trace of a teleportation Jutsu... he was just... gone...
In the distance, Kakashi could hear the sound of a mechanical wheezing.
• 10000 Years Ago:
Hagoromo froze, she couldn't believe her... errr "His" ears. He was a boy now, pronouns can be tricky for newly regenerated Time Lords. So why was he still having such trouble. Regardless, Hagoromo felt the call of something he hadn't heard since he was a little girl. He was sitting on the porch, drinking his midnight tea. Turning his head, he felt the wind swirl as he heard it. That mechanical wheezing groan.
He smiled as a blue phone box began to materialize before him. He nearly ran into the man's arms as the doors opened. Instead he gave a simple, "Hello Grandfather."
The older man, with the younger face, froze as he saw where he got to this time. But slowly, he smiled, "Susan... did you get a haircut?"
"Not in the past 3000 years. Time Lord hair doesn't really seem to grow." Hagoromo noted, "Would you care for some tea. I just put the children to bed, and my wife joined them a few hours ago. Another oddity I have noticed, is most lifeforms require a lot more sleep then us as well."
The older young man hesitantly stepped out of his shrine, closing the door behind him.
"I..." The man struggled to get out, "I was looking for your descendants... I wasn't expecting to find you."
"Oh?" Hagoromo raised an eyebrow, "Then, I suppose, I shouldn't expect any world shattering catastrophes within the hour? Either way, I'm sure we have time for tea."
The older young man hesitantly took a seat, while Hagoromo poured a cupper.
"You look good... besides the horns, gray skin, and eyes like a ripple affect." Grandfather smiled teasingly.
"Regeneration is a lottery. This face came with some deformities." Hagoromo shrugged handing over the glass, "At least they look cool." he chuckled before sipping from his own cup.
"You mentioned... a wife... kids..." Grandfather hesitantly asked.
"Indra and Asura. They are doing well in their studies. Though Asura seems to struggle a bit, his refusal to give up always ensures he gets it down, in the end."
"They have a Surname?" Grandfather drank his tea.
"I call them, 'Doctor'."
Grandfather choked on his drink, before squeaking, "Really!?"
Hagoromo just smirked, "Of course not, your chosen name isn't exactly appropriate as a Surname."
Grandfather huffed, "Cheeky brat."
Hagoromo grinned, "I chose to give them their mother's name... Uzumaki."
