Chapter 1
"My name is Jessica Jones. Since I was 14, my life has been pretty messed up. I could go on and on. I caused the accident that killed my parents, somehow gained superpowers, was raised through teenage years by a crazy bitch that only adopted me for publicity. The only one good thing in my life is my adoptive sister, Trish. Trish and I have been through thick and thin together, especially last year."
"Last year, I went to some function with my sister; or as I like to call it, a giant publicity stunt. That's where I met him, Kilgrave. He took an instant liking to me and used his powers mind control to make me his slave. He made me do unspeakable things, including committing murder. His life came to an impactful end when a bus strike ended his life.'
"I was never the same after I was freed from his control. I gave up on being a superhero, discovered the different kinds of scotch drinks. I make my money as a private investigator."
Jessica angrily threw a woman through her glass door window. She then exited her apartment.
"You crazy bitch!" the woman shouted as she stood up. "I'm going to sue you!"
"I don't think you will," Jessica said. "If you sue me, I'll sue you for not paying me! Now get out!"
The elevator door opened, and Peter Parker and David Alleyne exited as the woman ran into the elevator. As the doors closed, Peter and David approached Jessica.
"Excuse me," Peter said. "Jessica Jones?"
"What do you want?" Jessica asked in a mad tone.
"Did we come at a bad time?" Peter asked.
"What do you think?" Jessica asked hatefully.
"Okay," David said. "Here's the deal. I'm David Alleyne and this is Peter Parker. On behalf of Tony Stark, we're here to recruit you for our team to help defeat Thanos."
"Who's Thanos?" Jessica asked.
"He's an evil alien who wants to erase half of the population of the universe," Peter replied.
"Sorry," Jessica said. "I don't do superhero crap anymore."
"I know what Kilgrave did to you was horrible," David said. "But you can't just stop being a superhero."
"How do you know about Kilgrave?" Jessica asked.
"I know everything about everyone I'm near," David replied. "It's my superpower."
"Great," Jessica said sarcastically. "A mind reader and a… What are you, Peter?"
"I'm Spider-Man," Peter replied.
"Screw you, screw Thanos, and screw Tony Stark!" Jessica shouted.
"Jessica," Peter said. "We need you."
"Find somebody who cares," Jessica said before entering her apartment and shutting the door.
"That was disappointing," David said.
"Let's not be so quick to give up on her," Peter said.
