Deep in the heart of an ancient technological monstrosity, a battle raged. This was no simple quarrel of sword and sorcery; it was a titanic clash that would decide the fate of all reality. Three holy goddesses clashed against the might of a bitter warrior, devoured by His own hatred and anger at the worlds who scorned Him so.
Din, Goddess of Power, with her great flaming arms, did strike at her enemy's armor, sending Him off balance and near the edge of the abyss. He retaliated in kind, crashing His helmeted skull against hers and dazing her. Wielding a grand sword, Din defended against His charge, locking blades with the man-turned-demon. Her advantage was lost as the glowing blue of His sword began to churn and boil the goddess' own weapon, and she was forced to retreat before He could press further.
Nayru, Goddess of Wisdom, with her great shining magic, did intervene her enemy's charge, blocking Him with a shield of divine might. He wasted no time in smashing His terrible fist against her barrier, cracking it like fine glass. Wielding a grand staff, Nayru cast the warrior an ice spell, freezing him to the ground and rendering him immobile. Her advantage was lost as He spewed black flames from the mouthguard of His helmet, thawing the ice and forcing Nayru to dodge away lest she be bisected.
Farore, Goddess of Courage, with her great and rich soul, did set upon her enemy's unguarded flank, striking Him across the back and knocking him to the ground. He snarled in anger and used His momentum to deliver a harsh kick into the goddess' ribcage, sending her flying across the arena. Wielding a grand bow, Farore fired arrow after arrow at Him, dinging His armor and catching him by surprise. Her advantage was lost when He aimed a military battle rifle at her, forcing her to seek nearby cover.
The dark warrior fired in Farore's direction while staving off a potentially fatal blow from Din and jumping over Nayru's slicing enchantments. He felt no shame or regret for His actions, for they were the only sensible things in an utterly insane reality. He growled in frustration when Din sliced the rifle in half, destroying one of His more useful tools of destruction.
"You call yourselves Goddesses!" He bellowed just as He brought a gauntleted fist into Din's cheek. "You fear me! I can see it in your eyes!" He sidestepped a powerful spell and leapt at Nayru, His glowing sword aimed for the kill. "You have no power to wield against me!" His strike was blocked by Farore's golden bow, held by the goddess between Him and her sister. He pressed His height and weight against her, pushing her backward while Nayru and Din regrouped behind Him. "If you were true deities," He slid His blade across Farore's weapon and rammed His elbow into her chin, "this fight would be over by now!"
Din charged once more, her sword poised to pierce the warrior's blackened heart. She flew through the air as a golden-red arrow of Power and delivered a devastating slash across His back. A glowing trail was left behind but He was unhindered, slicing His own blade through the air and meeting with Din's exposed side. A strangled gasp escaped the goddess' throat as she was thrown off balance and careened against one of the cold metal walls, golden blood oozing from her wound.
"You are not worthy!" He roared. He quickly ducked under a frantic flame-blade spell from Nayru and backhanded Farore across her jaw. Using her disorientation, He drove His terrible blade through the goddess' chest, just below her ribs.
"FARORE!" Nayru and Din cried simultaneously. They stared with abject horror as Farore was painfully lifted off the ground by her neck, the sword yanked from her body. She stared in defiance at her executioner and kicked Him in the face despite the golden blood seeping down her skin. Her foot knocked His head back and released His grip on her. She collapsed in a heap and struggled to heal herself, while Nayru threw spell after spell at the warrior.
Din, spurred on by the sight of her sister's injury, blindly swept her sword at her enemy's legs, but He deftly jumped over her and struck Nayru's skull with the butt of His weapon. He sidestepped Din's coming assault and grappled her, then flung her right into Nayru and sent them crashing against the wall behind them.
Before they could recover, He rushed over to Farore, who was almost to her feet, and gripped her neck against the wall. "What are you," He beckoned as He raised His sword, "without courage?" In one fell swoop, He pierced Farore through the heart up to the hilt. She looked up at Him and vainly reached up to His shoulder.
Nayru and Din were paralyzed with shock and terror as Farore struggled to whisper one word: "Why?" Her skin cracked and green light shone from within, a sign of her impending end. She lost strength in her body but was still able to look over at her sisters and smile gravely. I love you, my dear sisters, she thought, before her energy flooded from the wounds and left her body, which then faded away into golden whisps of smoke.
Taking a deep breath, Farore's murderer retrieved His sword and turned on the two remaining goddesses. "Without Courage, you will not find the will to oppose me." His voice was laced with disdain and mockery as He marched forward, His boots echoing madly across the vast chamber in which they fought. "The Composer is mine. The Brethren Moons are mine. The Blade of Olympus is mine." He stopped short of them and tilted His head in cruel curiosity. "What do you have, hm?" He shook His head and stepped onto the nearby light bridge. He turned to face Nayru and noticed too late that she was alone. The battle cry came just in time for Him to register the golden blade sweeping across His armored torso, the momentum knocking Him backwards. He tucked into Himself and back-rolled to His feet, then met blades with Din. She glared at him with divine fury and brought her knee into His groin. He groaned but otherwise made no movement, only using His superior strength to push against her.
Din struggled to fight the monster's brute force, but that only served to leave her vulnerable to the leg sweep He performed. She tried to continue the fight, but it was over before it began. She felt the blade pierce her ribcage and gasped quietly as she watched her own blood leave her with morbid fascination. She reached up to the fist holding her death and tried to pry the fingers loose, but the strength was gone from her hand. He did indeed remove the blade from her body, but that notion was irrelevant as red energy seeped up from Din's skin.
Forgive me, dearest sister, she thought, and then she was no more.
Nayru was beyond terrified. She had just witnessed her closest family be murdered by a ruthless sociopath, a feat that should have been beyond impossible. She stared at the beast as He slowly, deliberately made His way to her. "Without Power," she heard Him say, "you cannot stop me." Brilliant sapphire hair curtained the goddess' face as she felt tears seep down her cheeks. What hope was there? She could do nothing to stop Him, could do nothing to placate Him. The only person who could possibly stop Him was...
Nayru's eyes widened as she realized her final task. She allowed Him to approach, waiting for the perfect moment when He was raising His sword to strike her down. Catching Him by surprise, Nayru blasted Him with a containment field. He was snared up in a tight bubble of blue light, His sword left behind on the floor. It costed her nearly all of her power, otherwise she would have used it much earlier, even with the knowledge that He could not be contained for long, so strong was He. Quickly, before her window closed, Nayru began to cast her most powerful ritual, one she had never before used because she knew not the consequences, and also had to change the words in places.
"Zurvan, Great Eagle,
I call to you,
From the deepest
Depths of my heart"
The dark warrior froze as He recognized the melody to which Nayru sang her spell. He heard it before and knew what power lay in the tune, and struggled even harder against the cage of light.
"I need your guidance
To give me strength
In this hour
Of Darkest Time"
He finally produced an infinitesimal crack in the barrier and smashed His fist against it in desperation. He did not bother with yelling at Nayru to stop, He knew that was a broken gesture.
"I know now what must be done
I know now where We went wrong"
The warrior damaged the barrier enough to get His arm out, and begin pummeling the glass-like shield from the outside. He did not notice the golden light shining above and below Him.
"Give Us all
One chance
To prove that
He is Worthy"
He struggled against the cage, ignoring the warm sensation running through His veins. He did not know what Nayru was trying to do, only that He needed to stop it quickly. He brought His fist against the glass one final time and successfully shattered the cage. He ignored His weapon and grabbed Nayru by the neck, one fist raised to crush her skull in. Despite His iron grip, Nayru was still able to speak clearly and unimpeded.
"He must learn
To let go of
His Hatred..."
Her ritual complete, Nayru closed her eyes in peace. She had made her prayer and thus there was nothing more she could do. His fist met little resistance as it punctured her skull, staining her clothing and armor with golden-blue blood. His victory falsely assured, the warrior turned back to the light bridge, oblivious to the massive orb of golden energy behind Him. He only realized what was happening when He was swept off his feet and began to be drawn into the golden orb. Despite His massive strength, He was unable to free Himself from the forces pulling Him in. The only action He could successfully make was to grab the weapon He had perverted from its original purpose, and then He was lost to the power of the orb.
The energy served as a true prison, blinding him with divine light, then it performed its purpose of imprisoning him in the light, where he was to remain sealed inside his tomb. He would remain there for all eternity, never to see the light of day again.
But the might of the Triforce is not to be trifled with...
