Hello, and welcome to My fanfiction!

You may be wondering, "This fanfic has '2' in it, surely it must mean I have to read the first story before reading the other one! That isn't the case! You can enjoy this story without going back to read the first fanfic. That being said, going back to read the first one would make me happy! ^_^ The first story is about the parents of Lucia, Lucian and Rebecca, and their adventure that eventually drew them together.

There will, however, be minor spoilers for the first story in this one. If you don't mind it, continue! But I repeat: you don't have to read the first story to enjoy this one!

I hope you enjoy this story!

Chapter 1: The Promised Land

"She's… beautiful." A purple haired woman named Rebecca lied in a hospital bed, holding a newborn baby. The baby was silent, staring into her mother's eyes. Rebecca's eyes began to glisten as tears rolled down her cheeks. "God, She's so beautiful, Lucian. Look at her eyes. She's got your eyes."

"Yeah," A man named Lucian was crouching to meet the gaze of his newborn child. He brought his arm closer to glide his finger across the newborn's cheek.

"Hey there!" Lucian said with a grin. "Hey there- it's me. I'm your Dad!" The baby's eyes looked over to her papa.

"...If she ends up having your hair," Rebecca said. "I'm keeping her bald for life."

"To be honest, I'd rather her have your hair," Lucian said. "Your hair's a lot more beautiful than mine, anyway." A hint of red colored the woman's cheeks. She chuckled lightly and sighed.

"God, I can't stop looking at her," Rebecca said. "...I think I know what to name her."

"What?"

"I want to name her Lucia."

"Wow."

'What?"

"Nothing, it's-That's an amazing name."

"Sorry to disturb-" The parents turned to see Nurse Joy walk into the room. "But- uh, I need to talk to you both… It's about the baby..."

Lucia cried out in pain.

The force of the attack she received was strong enough to send the ponytailed trainer flying. Her body crashed into tree after tree, breaking apart once she flew through them. Her body spun uncontrollably once she finally hit the ground, but once the momentum faded, her body soon skid to a halt. What came rolling after her, covered in bruises was her Shelgon, who kept rolling until finally stopping in front of the young trainer. Lucia couldn't move. She looked up at the two opponents. One of them was a Gardevoir, who was the size of two, no, three skyscrapers. She dwarfed all the trees around her and looked down at Lucia with a blank expression.

The second opponent? Lucia's own mother, Rebecca, whose hair was as purple as her daughter's. She was clad in invoker armor. The chest plate was reminiscent of a football player's shoulder pads, in the middle was the sigil of the invoker: a symbol of a thunderbolt pulsating with the same red energy Gardevoir armor pants were coated in the same white metal. Her eyes were glowing with psychic type energy.

"It's over now. You've tried your best," Rebecca said. "I say this for your own good: Give up."

–Two days earlier–

"Whoa, did you see that? It's a Hoothoot!"

The wind gently brushed Lucia's hair as she stared up at the Houen starry night sky in Littleroot town. She wore black glasses and a yellow scarf around her neck. She wore a blue denim jacket over a white shirt and wore a skirt that matched the color of her scarf. This was one of her favorite things to do at night, watching Wild flying-types fly in the sky with her Bagon, who was sitting on her lap. Tomorrow was her birthday, and also the day she'd become old enough to be a trainer. "You're gonna do the same thing one day," The girl said, patting her Bagon's head. Her finger followed a Noctowl that flew by. "You're gonna fly just like that Noctowl," The girl said. "We'll both see our dreams through."

"Lucia?" The young girl turned her head.

"Yes?" Lucia asked. Lucia pulled on the wheelchair she sat on and pivoted to her house's front door. Out came Lucia's mother, Rebecca, who sported a white apron over her brown long dress.

"...Tomorrow's your birthday." Rebecca said, lowering her eyes. Every other night, before her birthday, Lucia's mother would be ecstatic. She would be asking normal things, like what she wanted, or what flavor cake she'd prefer. But this time, Lucia's mother couldn't even look her in the eye.

"Are you still-.." Rebecca paused and sighed. She stared at her daughter with worry. "Do you still want to be a trainer?"

"Yes," Lucia said, looking annoyed. "Yes, mom. I do. Nothing you say will stop me."

"..Yeah.. I know," She looked up at the sky. "No matter what I say you're going to go out there, huh?" Lucia didn't respond. Rebecca sighed. "You remind me a lot of your uncle. He was driven, just like you."

"Will Dad be there when I get my Invoker?" Rebecca narrowed her eyes.

"I'm not so sure." She said, "I'm sorry. You'll be able to take your first steps too, if the invoker works as intended."

"Yeah... though I didn't expect you to be this sad about it," Lucia lamented.

Silence.

"It's hard to think about you being out there, you know. You'll be relying on an Invoker to walk. And that's wonderful, but-, If the Pokémon your invoker links with faints... the weight of the armor triples. You won't be able to move. And if Bagon's the only Pokémon you have left... Then how will you get to a Pokécenter?" Lucia didn't respond and looked away from her parent. "You can't just look away from me without an answer, Lucia,"

"Mom, please-" Lucia spun her head and widened her eyes once she saw tears falling from her mother's eyes.

"I'm sorry, Lucia. It's just- I love you so much," The sight of her mother crying had always been her weakness. Tears begun welling up in the young girl's eyes before she knew it. "I don't want anything bad happening to you.

"I love you too." Lucia said. Rebecca took a long sigh. She looked up at the black sky. By now, bug type Pokémon were chirping and buzzing. The croaks of the Politoed danced in Lucia's ears.

"Did you want to become a trainer because of your father?" Rebecca asked.

"No."

"...Then can't you reconsider?" The moment Rebecca asked this question, Lucia's brow furrowed. "Your uncle gave up on his dream to become a trainer. It's okay to give up dreams for better ones-"

"I'm doing this for Bagon!" Lucia interrupted. Rebecca's eyes widened.

"Bagon..?" Rebecca asked.

"All Bagons dream to fly, but they can't." Lucia looked down and gently caressed her Bagon's head, who was now fast asleep. "They were born without wings, but that doesn't stop them. They go to cliffs and jump off them over and over again hoping one day, they'll fly. And they do fly- when they reach their final evolution. That story's so inspirational to me, so I want to see it through. If that means fighting the best of the best and becoming champion, then fine. I'll fight with him, struggle with him.. Whatever it takes."

"...Bagon's been with you since you were born.." Rebecca said. "And it's clear you love him very much."

"He's my family, just like you and dad," Lucia said.

"Sometimes I wonder…if Bagon wasn't the one who hatched from that egg years ago, would you still want to be a trainer?"

Lucia shook her head.

"Dad would have inspired me instead. I wanna face my Dad, and I want him to fight me with all of his strength."

"Really?" Rebecca asked.

"Yeah. I love dad as much as you, but that won't stop me from kicking his butt. Bagon and I are gonna reach for the stars."

Rebecca frowned. She looked up at the sky.

The next day

"Ah, there you are!" Professor Birch waved as Rebecca walked in, pushing Lucia with her.

"Hi, Birch!" Lucia said, waving happily as the parent and child came closer.

"Lucia," Rebecca said. "Call him Professor. It's rude to call him by his last name." Rebecca reprimanded. "Hello, Professor," Rebecca said.

"Hope you two are doing well!" Birch said.

"Do you have my Invoker ready?" Lucia asked.

"Yes. I do!" Birch pulled out an invoker, a bracelet bearing the sigil of a blue thunderbolt. "I should also let you know about the several modifications we implemented."

"Modifications?" Rebecca asked.

"Because Lucia would be relying on the Invoker armor to walk, we thought that it'd make her journey much more difficult. So, we messed with the linking system, and managed to remove the weight function if Bagon were to faint!"

"Really?!" Rebecca cried, beaming with joy.

"We also added a stealth mode to the armor, because you'd look weird walking around in a suit of armor all day! It won't even feel like it's there."

"That's wonderful!" Rebecca said.

"Yeah, it is! It was all possible thanks to Lucian's support. If he hadn't gotten us the funds for it this wouldn't have been possible. Speaking of which, where is he?" The Pokémon Professor turned his head back and forth, looking for the father.

"He couldn't make it," Lucia said. "It makes me a little sad, but… it's fine. I'll kick his butt when I become champion as revenge."

"Oooh! Fiesty one! I bet you got that from your dad!" Birch said. "I do wish he were here. I wanted to at least thank him for making this possible!" Lucia extended an arm to Birch to take it, but the professor swung his hand away. "Before you take it," The professor continued, "I should tell you the downsides."

"Downsides?" Rebecca asked.

"Because we dulled the link between you and Bagon... the armor won't protect you from attacks. Period."

"What!?" Rebecca cried.

"Yeah." Birch said. "We tried really hard to change that, but.. At the very least, Lucia can still use the same moves her linked Pokémon can use in battle!"

"No, no, no, no!" Rebecca shook her head quickly. "We can't- I can't let you do this, Lucia." Rebecca ran to stand in front of Rebecca. You can go out and be a normal Pokémon Trainer, but you can't challenge the Pokémon league. They require Invoker battles, and you can get seriously hurt if you-"

"Mom," Lucia responded in an annoyed tone. "I can handle it. It's oka-" Rebecca's eyes flared in rage.

"No- it's not okay!" Rebecca said. "You have no idea what can happen to you! What say you when you get hit by a Hyper beam, a thunder bolt!? The powers Pokemon have, they can seriously hurt you! I've seen it firsthand! "

"I can take it!" Lucia repeated.

"No- you don't get it! You have no idea how dangerous it would be for you to challenge the Pokémon league! You can't- You can't do it, sweetheart...! I've seen it! It can-" Rebecca looked close to tears. "You need to understand how much danger you'll be in if you-"

"I..!" Lucia glared furiously at her mother and spoke as though she were holding herself back from yelling then and there. "Can..! Take it!"

:"..You can't be serious.." Rebecca said. "No- you don't get it. You don't get it at all!"

"Mom! I'm going to take the Invoker from Birch's hands!" Lucia moved herself over to Birch. "And I'm going to go out on my adventure! You can't stop me!"

"How dare you talk back to your mother like that!?"

"If you're going to be like this, then just leave already!" Lucia shouted at the top of her lungs. Stunned, Rebecca stared at her daughter, grit her teeth and looked away before storming out of the lab.

"Uh- I think you should get your mother's permission first before-" Birch's eyes darted at the Invoker and back at the open front door. "So-" Before Birch could finish speaking, Lucia quickly moved herself and snatched the invoker bracelet from his hands. "Oh crud..,!" Birch said as Lucia put the bracelet onto her arm.

"I'm activating it now," Lucia said.

"No, wai-"

Lucia pressed the thunderbolt sigil on her Invoker. The entire bracelet began shining with a brilliant white light, and hummed with a loud ring. It was so bright that both Birch and Lucia shielded their eyes. Soon, the ringing faded, and so did the light. Birch slowly moved his arm away.

"So- uh… feel… any different?" Birch looked nervous.

Lucia tried moving her legs, and when they listened, she nearly gasped.

"I- I think I can move..!" She said. She slowly moved one foot off of her wheelchair, and then the other. She slowly climbed her way up to stand. "I- I can move!" Lucia cried. She leapt into the air. "I can move!"

"That's amazing! Science never ceases to amaze!"

"This is awesome..!" Lucia cried. "Thank you so much!"

"You're absolutely welcome! I'm ecstatic to see that it works perfectly!" Lucia wasted no time running around the laboratory as much as possible. Birch watched her in delight.

"This is great! This is aweseome!" Lucia cried, running back to Birch. "I'm so happy! I can finally go on my adventure!"

"Now, now, kid. I'm sure you know that it'd make your mother worry if you didn't get her permission first," The professor said. He put both hands on his hips. "I would be really against it if you didn't."

"I'm really mad at her right now." Lucia said.

"But she's your mother."

Lucia sulked. "...Yeah..." She said, sighing. "You're right."

"I know how you feel, but you should really get the permission of your mother. If you don't, you'd be running away from home."

"...She doesn't get it! I'm about to be a trainer, and she isn't happy for me! Ugh..! We literally talked it over just now, and I thought everything was going to be fine!"

"To be fair," Birch said. "She hasn't told you this, but.. someone close to her got hurt by a Pokémon's attack. They were in a coma for days. You may say you're ready, but you have to remember that Pokémon are a lot tougher than humans."

"But I'll be fine! I said I could take it!" Lucia said.

"...Sorry, but-" Birch said.

"...Don't tell me you agree with my mom..!?" Lucia looked like she was ready to snap.

"No! I mean, I do, but-" Lucia turned and stormed away. "Lucia! Wait!"

As Lucia shoved the front door open in rage, she saw Bagon sent tumbling toward the ground. Lucia's eyes widened.

"Bagon!" Lucia cried. "Oh gosh, did I hurt you?! I'm so sorry!" Lucia hurried toward the fallen Bagon and crouched to it. She quickly gave a kiss to his cheek. "I'm so sorry, Bagon," Lucia said, hugging him tightly. "I was just angry- I didn't know you were there! Are you all right?"

"Bagon.." Bagon mumbled.

"I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry!"

"Bagonn..!" Bagon sounded like he was choking. Lucia's eyes widened in realization. "Oh gosh- am I choking you?!" Lucia threw Bagon away and he tumbled to the ground once again.

"Bagon.." Bagon mumbled.

"Oh no!" Lucia approached Bagon again with a worried expression. "I'm so sorry! I didn't- I hope I didn't hurt you again, Bagon! Sorry, sorry, sorry!" Lucia cried. Bagon didn't stand back up, he just sighed deeply. "I'm so, so, sorry Bagon!"

"Bagon!" Bagon leapt into his feet, walked over to Lucia and headbutted her leg lightly. It was the equivalent force of a softball hitting her in the shin.

"Ow!" Lucia cried.

"Bagon!" Bagon cried angrily.

"Aww- What was that for?" Lucia cried. She stared at Bagon glaring at her. "Oh- was it because I apologized too much? I'm sor-" Lucia covered her mouth with both hands.

"Bagon," Bagon nodded and smiled. He then walked up and hugged Lucia's leg- the same one he headbutted. Lucia sighed and started walking. All the while, Bagon stayed attached to Lucia's leg. She kept walking until she reached her house. She expected her mother to be outside waiting for her, but she was nowhere to be found. Lucia grumbled to herself as she went to sit down on the front porch. Bagon leapt off of Lucia's leg and leaned against it in worry once he noticed Lucia looking sad.

"I wish Mom wasn't so angry." Lucia said. She put her hands on her cheeks. "I'm finally able to be a trainer, just like Dad. I want to be Champion, just like Dad… and now… this. Awesome."

"..Bagon.." Bagon looked up at Lucia with sad eyes.

"This sucks.." Lucia said. "I want to just leave. I really do. But.. I just can't. I want my Mom to let me go, y'know? I don't want to run away from home.. I still love her." "Lucia.." The sound of her Mother's voice made Lucia's eyes widen. She spun around.

"Mo-" She suddenly gasped. Lucia's mother was fully clad in Invoker armor. She looked down at her child with a look of which Lucia had never seen before. She looked completely serious.

"M-Mom!?" Lucia cried, jumping to her feet.

"I never told you this," Rebecca said as she brandished a Pokéball. "But I used to be a trainer too," Rebecca tossed her Pokéball beside her, and Gardevoir came out from it. Gardevoir let out a cry as she appeared in a flash of light. Lucia was at a loss for words, just staring in astonishment.

"You said that you could take the pain, right?" Rebecca said this without turning to face her daughter. "Then prove it to me. Show me you're ready.

"Mom-..!" Lucia stood up. "You can't be serious!"

"Lucia..." Rebecca closed her eyes and frowned. "I love you so much more than words could ever describe. It's why I have to do this. I'm going to show you exactly what you signed up for," Rebecca drew in a long and deep breath. She then flashed a glare at her daughter. "Gardevoir. Use Mega punch on Lucia."

Gardevoir nodded and lunged at Lucia. The adolescent wasn't even mentally prepared to dodge. The thrown punch slammed into Lucia's stomach with so much force that saliva leapt from her mouth. Lucia was sent tumbling away, leaving behind a trail of dirt. Once her body stopped sliding against the ground, she clutched her stomach and groaned in agony. The pain was excruciating. It was unlike anything she'd ever felt before. For a moment, she couldn't breathe. She started coughing loudly.

"You said you were ready, right!?" Rebecca shouted. Her voice sounded torn up, as though she had already been crying. "I didn't want to do this. But I can't let you go- not until you realize the gravity of your decision!" Lucia hacked and coughed loudly. She fought for every breath she took, and at the same time she felt intense nausea.

"Bagon!" Bagon hurriedly ran to Lucia's side.

"That's the pain you're saying you're prepared for!" Rebecca cried. "You're not ready, Lucia! You never will be! Because you're just a human being just like everyone else, you aren't as tough as a Pokémon!" Lucia's nails dug into the ground. Each attempt to stand back up resulted in her fumbling back to the ground. "I'm going inside!" Rebecca cried. "Tell me once you realize... you can't become the champion." Rebecca turned to gardevoir. "Heal her if she asks for it." She said. Gardevoir nodded, and Rebecca walked back inside

Bagon roared its own name again and again in intense worry. He spun around and ran to Gardevoir. She looked down at the small dragon type with a blank expression as Bagon used its stubby arms to point down at the fallen Lucia.

"Ugh..!" Lucia groaned. "I-... I.." Bagon spun around and ran to Lucia's side once again.

"I'm-..." Lucia coughed. "I can't even… stand...!"

Bagon looked like it was ready to cry. Bagon spun again, running over to Gardevoir and hopping in desperation. Gardevoir didn't move. Bagon took a few steps back before sprinting after Gardevoir and launching himself her way. The Psychic type's eyes glew with a pink light, and almost immediately, the Bagon's body stopped midair before being deflected and sent flying. Bagon landed with a thud, but his determination didn't falter. He stood back up once again and charged at Gardevoir only for the psychic to deflect him with her mind. Bagon fell to grass ground below once again.

"Stop…" Lucia grumbled. "Bagon..!"

Bagon groaned as he stood back up. "Stop attacking!" The young trainer cried. "Please!" Bagon spun his head around in confusion.

"You… can't… let Gardevoir heal me.." Lucia said. Her arms trembled with weakness as she pushed herself up. "For our dream… to be realized… we have to be strong… and show Mom… We can do it.." Lucia's arms gave out as she fell onto the ground again. Bagon cried out in worry as he ran over to her side once again.

"B-Bagon!" Lucia cried. "B-Bagon.. please..! Help-! Help me up!"

Bagon nodded, letting Lucia use his body as leverage to stand back up again. Slowly she was back on her feet. She clutched her stomach as she dragged herself over to Gardevoir. She looked up at Gardevoir, and Gardevoir stared back.

"You…Will never… clip our wings..!" Lucia roared. While still grasping her stomach, she walked past Gardevoir, and went inside the house.

Inside, Lucia saw her Mother sitting on a couch, blankly staring at a TV that wasn't even on. Her invoker armor was gone. Her back was toward the young trainer, so she couldn't see her mother's face at all.

"Why are you making this so difficult?" Rebecca said. "Do you have any idea how this makes me feel? Do you think I like harming my child?"

"Give… me a day." Lucia said. "Give me a day… to train. That day… I'll have a battle with you. We'll use our Invokers. If I lose… then I'll do what you say… and not go for the Pokémon league. But If I win-"

"You'll go off and try to become Champion..?" Rebecca asked.

"Yeah," Lucia said.

Rebecca lowered her head. "...You remember what happened to your Uncle? He was just like you. Determined. Until someone crushed his dream. I chased that man, the one who hurt my brother. I hated him with every fiber of my being. And yet here I am, walking the same steps as him. I'm trying to crush my daughter's dream. I'm a failure of a mother."

"No, Mom," Lucia said. "The Mega Punch Gardevoir threw... im still feeling it, even now. Before I didn't get what you meant about the dangers of battling without armor, but now.. this pain-.. it's what I needed. I had to know what I was getting into... and you showed me that. Because you care."

"What kind of mother hurts her child..?" Rebecca began choking in her sobs. Lucia quickly ran to her mother's side and hugged her with all of her might. Rebecca hugged her daughter back, crying loudly.

"I'm so sorry..!" Rebecca cried.

"It's okay, Mom.." Lucia began to cry herself. "It's okay.."

"I love you so much..! I don't want anything bad happening to you..!"

"I love you too, Mom.."

After a long while, Lucia finally let go of her mother.

"I'm going now." Lucia said. "I'm going to start training.

Rebecca wiped her eyes and cleared her throat. "You can train however you want." Rebecca said. "I'm going to have Gardevoir follow you when you leave. At any time, you can tell her that you give up."

"Okay. Thank you, Mom. I'll be back." Lucia stood up. She gave a smile to her smiling mother before turning to walk out the door. As soon as she came out of the house, Bagon came running over to her. Lucia crouched and hugged Bagon once he leapt to her.

"I'm fine, everything's fine," Lucia said, kissing his cheek softly. "It's fine." She stood up, and saw Gardevoir, staring blankly at Lucia.

"Mom's testing us, Bagon,." The young trainer said, not once averting her gaze from Gardevoir. "She wants to know if we're really ready to achieve our dreams. Yours to fly, and mine to become champion," Lucia smirked. "So go on, keep staring! Watch me get stronger- and watch me surpass you and my Mom!" Lucia looked down at Bagon. "Let's go, Bagon!" Lucia started sprinting away from home.

Rebecca watched Lucia running onwards. She smirked.

"You say it all the time, and you're right every time." Rebecca said. "She got her determination from you, Lucian."
