Grimm Fall

Prologue: Black Like Roses

The sound of a scythe dragging through the snow hitting ever so often the roots of several trees leaving a skewed trail behind the wielder. The wielder's breath was heavy as a flurry of flakes carelessly fell around them inside the black forest. The scythe color is blood red with the blade being dark void. A loose wire around the wielder's wrist attached to the hilt of the handle making the scythe following behind the footsteps of the figure. An oddity of the scythe as a red dot was attached just above the hilt of the scythe with a black trigger below it. The scythe was mechanical and operated as if it could switch into another weapon showing the cogs inside of the scythe.

The figure wore a crimson red cape coaxing over the scythe moving up only when the scythe hit a tree root. The hood of the cape covered the eyes leaving just the smile of the wielder as a clearing in the woods begins to form out towards an open snowy plain. The figure is a girl who wears a black gothic dress with ruffles and marks all over along with two silver crosses attaching the cape with her shoulders. She wore a belt around her waist with a bigger cross dangling with a pouch right beside keeping the cross from falling.

The girl walked through the forest with stoic motions from her lips to her feet. The cold air was still and the moonlight sky had no stars but a full moon with the quarters of the moon shattered in many pieces drifting away. The girl continues to walk into the plains feeling a chill coursing through her skin. She looks up with her nose pointed into the air and smells for a moment taking in everything around her. A low whisper of howls starts to flood the ears of the blood caped girl.

The snow around her starts to shift slightly. The girl listens carefully as her eyes jolts open gripping onto her scythe with vigor. A beastly figure shaped like a wolf springs from the pure white snow in a pitch-black color with skulls for its shoulder and head with glowing red eyes and mouth. The black wolf stood tall as a bear and glared down at the small girl who never looked towards the wolf. She kept her composure with her hand slightly shaking from the wolf jumping out. She slowly lets her head down to keep her eyes from being seen but only her lips. She sees a cold corpse uncovered from the snow of a woman holding a hand in hand with a smaller set of hands just before her feet.

The wolf waits for its prey to start running, however, the girl stands her ground and jumps towards the wolf to strike it down holding her pointed scythe towards the wolf, with a finger on the trigger button. The girl swings from the top to slice down onto the wolf allowing the wolf to headbutt the prey in the stomach causing her to stagger into the snow. The girl drops back down onto the snow rolling before halting in her tracks. The wolf goes onto all fours and proceeds to run towards the girl to give one last strike before enjoying its prey.

The girl's blood was boiling.

She swiftly sweeps the snow up from the ground towards the wolf creating a flurry of snow falling around and a mist to ease her to move to the right of the wolf and strike down with her scythe again as it scratches the snow out of its eyes. She swings heavy and hard against the back of the creature making it howl in pain as she keeps pushing down deeper into the back of the beast.

The wolf stood on two limbs and swiped away the attacker making the girl slide under to avoid the giant paws. She held onto the life of the scythe before mounting the beast and letting her scythe out of its back. She kept her legs on the shoulder of the beast while she pressed the trigger button on her weapon. A cranking of gears starts to wind up as it shoots out a black blade on the other end of the scythe but it shoots the other half of the scythe towards the snow giving the wolf the time to sling them from her now torn cape into the scattered snow.

She stood back up quickly watching the wolf gritted its teeth. She breathed heavily as she pulled onto the wire connecting the two halves of the blooded scythes. She held two medium-size sicles but they still retained their scythe look. She held both of the weapons tight with her wire between them in the snow ready for action. She glances up towards the wolf to mirror its hatred with each other.

The wolf's claws quickly fall towards the girl as she uses both of her smaller scythes to guard against the attack while the wolf swings its other claw to dig into the girl's side. She grunts as the first claw comes down and quickly deflects both claws as she spun faster than a speeding bullet sticking both of her weapons out. She looks at the wolf staggering backward and spins towards it.

She tilted herself forward causing a rippled razor cut to come into the wolf's stomach. The wolf snarls and bites downwards fast at the wolf but she evades its attack by spinning out of its reach. She took herself a second to breathe. She held one small scythe tight while twirling the other small scythe on the other hand by the wire. The wolf no longer looked at the girl as prey but rather as another predator.

The wolf went on all four of its limbs and charged towards the girl. The girl slowly starts to walk to meet in the middle of the beast. When the beast came close enough to swing both of its bear paws at the girl, she simply jumped forward faster than the wind before the first swing. She held both of the weapons loosely apart to let the wire catch the wolf's neck. The wolf howls in pain as she landed on the ground pulling hard onto the wire but she wasn't done. She looked back with newfound anger and vengeance to the wolf and leaped onto the wolf's back while she swapped both scythes causing the wire to intertwine.

Once she latched her legs around the wolf, she slammed both of her weapons into its back. She kept digging both scythes into the flesh and back out. Each strike was one after the other going faster and faster causing a slight smile to her face as red rose petals started to spurt out of the wolf's wounds.

By this moment, there was no struggle. The wolf was already onto the snow motionless as she kept stroking it until she was satisfied with what happened. She believed that she showed this wolf who was the prey. Her hood with every strike kept covering more and more of her face to the tips of her lips. The air felt cool for her face and the rest of her body. She felt the burning sensation of anger fuel her. She looked towards the sky towards the shattered moon.

There were still no stars shining on her tonight.

Her smile quickly reformed back into her stoic posture. She sniffed the air again only to be slashed by claws on her back causing red petals to splatter behind her. She hunched over and reconnected her weapon back into her scythe. She rolled to her right as a swing came from her left from another beast creature like the one she killed.

She started to notice more howls, she was oblivious to the sounds around her to notice she was being circled by smaller wolves than the one she had made her prey. She stood on a small hill looking down at the wolves snarling at her. If she could count how many there were looking up at her, growling to snag a kill. She would smile.

"Today's my lucky day." a small smile forms from her innocent stoic thoughts. She grips her scythe with both hands and poses the scythe behind her making her arms hang off like a scarecrow. She spun her weapon quickly while charging down the small hill towards the wolves.

Dashing through the crowds of smaller wolves, she easily started to cut through them creating a swirl of rose petals surrounding her. One wolf jumps above her while one jumps up towards her neck. She detached her weapon letting one shoot out and hit the wolf above her and her cutting the wolf on the ground head clean off. She spins and twirls as if it was a dance for her slaying the lesser wolves. Before she knew it, more and more wolves started to dwell as more cowers in fear of dying to the new predator.

She now stood among the corpses of those who had fallen to the wolves with the now newly slain wolves around her circling her. She let her scythe drop into the snow to create a trail as she walked away with rose petals starting to drip from her wounds onto the trail now and then. Her clothes were torn and tattered with her cape mostly the one in ruin from the wolf attacks and her attacks against herself. She loosely carried her weapon back into the abyss of the black forest.

Through the forest, small red petals start turning black.
