Death Becomes Him: A Harry Potter Fanfiction

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or any of its associated characters: all rights belong to JK Rowling. I do not own any crossover references used in the story: all rights belong to their original creators. I do own any OC spells explained at the end of a chapter.

Plot: Death Becomes Him Response: Not everything is quite what it seems. Muggle-borns aren't quite Muggle-borns. Gryffindor isn't quite the house of the good guys. What else? Oh yes: Harry James Potter isn't quite a hero! Not anymore he's not!

Challenge Information: DZ2's 'Death Becomes Him' Challenge: A Necromancer Prophecy says that, one day, the Master of Death, Lord of the Next Great Adventure, King of the Damned and Supreme Ruler of all that is dead, will one day rise and make the world of the living his new kingdom. But that'll never happen, right? I mean, whoever even heard of the Master of...oh! Damn: we're in trouble!

Rules: Dark or Evil Harry

OP/Godlike Harry ONLY

When the story starts is up to you

Harry MUST either be the Master reincarnated or acquire the full power somewhere down the line

As MoD, all powers/abilities/magics associated with souls/dead bodies/corpses/undead MUST be Harry's to command and master

Harry MUST have a negative/fearful effect on any spirit/undead being whom does not know/recognise his power (e.g. the Hogwarts Ghosts)

Even though they're neither dead nor alive, Dementors and even Lethifolds - if in the story - MUST fear Harry because his 'taste' is poison to them

Harry MUST have a cult/legion of devoted followers whom treat his will as Holy Writ

All pairings are welcome

Guidelines: Crossovers

Immortal-Harry

Harry is only immortal/unkillable at a price (e.g. sating a hunger, sacrifices, etc.)

If Harry 'dies' one of his disciples offers up their lives so he may live again

As MoD, Harry has a 'true/alternate' form which he uses to deliver ultimate justice/punishment on his enemies/betrayers

The Master's 'true name' is that of a so-called mythological figure (e.g. Hades, Anubis, Hel, Osiris, Shinigami etc.)

Harry feeds on souls

Instead of destroying them, Harry manipulates the soul shards of the Horcruxes somehow (e.g. making them serve him, eating them etc.)

Harry feeds on the dead (flesh/organs/blood etc.)

Harry has an 'undead' familiar (e.g. zombified creature/animal)

Souls make Harry's powers stronger/advance

Lily and/or James survive with full knowledge of the prophecy

Tom serves Harry

The Elder Wand and the other Hallows aren't the real Hallows, but rather decoys/tools/just another item

Harry dies to become the Master

Slash

Harems

Harry/Multi

As the Lord of the Next Great Adventure, Harry can somehow trap/torture the 'living' by sending them to his realm

Forbidden: Light or Grey Harry

Weak Harry

Harry refusing his powers

Harry NOT being the Master

Any dead/undead force who doesn't recognise his power NOT fearing him

Harry being affected by Dementors

The Master NOT having a band of followers who worship him

Other than that, it's up to you...

Author's Note: So, this is something of a project discussion that I've been working on, with a little help from a dear friend who indulges my desires and offers words of wisdom and encouragement where they may be needed. As a result, we have this interestingly-dark and delicious idea that will have some major twists and turns throughout, chief among them being the fact that, in this story, Harry is basically going to be a Dark GOD!

So, let the darkness within us all flow free.

And, as always, if you don't like it, don't read it.

Dedication: I'd like to dedicate this story to my very good friend, long-time supporter and dark-minded, like-minded friend and ally, Winged Seer Wolf, for giving me the inspiration and encouragement to make this nightmare a reality.

Prologue: He Is Found

As twelve-year-old Harry James Potter ran through King's Cross Station, barely able to keep up with the Weasley Family as they raced towards the barrier between the Muggle and Magical Worlds, neither the redheaded brood, nor the Boy-Who-Lived himself, noticed that their race through the crowded station was being observed.

And not just by a sea of confused Muggles, especially those who heard the elders of the group complaining about the time and how the train was going to leave any minute.

Death

"Look!"

"I see him."

"I can't believe it. What have they done to him?"

"Ssshh…don't let the humans hear you!"

As the watchers argued, in as low a voice as they could muster – which was more than could be said for the loudmouthed redheaded woman whom, for the second time in 12 months, was screaming King's Cross down as she broadcasted about a train leaving any minute – one of them turned their eyes towards the destination of their quarry.

Next to him, the second figure asked, "What is it?"

"Someone's trying to stop Him," said the first, clenching his fists tightly as he watched his quarry nearing the barrier. "They're waiting for Him to be visible near the platform barrier."

"But they can't!"

"They are," hissed the first, looking to his companion once again as he explained, "Go: scare them away, but don't draw attention to yourself, unlike that pathetic excuse for a witch who thinks she can lead Him astray."

"Yes, big brother."

As his little brother left his side, the watcher looked back to the brood before, to his relief, each and every one of them, including Him, vanished through the barrier. Seconds later, his brother returned to his side, a disgruntled look on his face, the sight of which made the elder look to him in confusion and bewilderment.

"What is it?"

"Let's return to our bodies first," said the younger sibling, earning a nod from his elder as the two of them seemed to fade from where they stood in a whisper of magic that seemed to make them glow before the boys faded away, leaving those who'd been standing and moving near them shivering, as though someone had just walked over their graves. Death

On the Hogwarts Express, in a compartment occupied by two blond-haired boys, both of whom seemed to be merely sleeping – one of the boys wearing what looked like a camera around his neck, while the other had one hand clasped around a small, black notebook – the air grew cold for only a moment before the boy with the camera opened his eyes, feigning a yawn for appearances' sake while his sibling scowled as he feigned rubbing sleep from his eyes.

"Well?" asked the boy with the camera, "What's wrong, Dennis?"

"There was a House Elf," replied the boy with the book, Dennis, his voice cool-toned, despite the fact he was only eleven years old, as was his companion. "His soul was overflowing with an obsessive desire to stop Him coming to Hogwarts, Colin. When I looked a little deeper, before giving the creature a jolt to frighten him away, I also found that he belonged to a family that has one whom, like us, Mum and our grandparents, is meant to be one of the Faithful."

"Who?" asked Colin, running a hand through his own blond bangs as he listened to his brother.

"The Malfoy Family," hissed Dennis, earning an alarmed, if not furious look from Colin, while Dennis explained, "The Mother of the family, Narcissa Malfoy nee Black; she is the one who is supposed to be one of the Faithful, right?"

"The Black Family, yes," replied Colin, a note of rage, if not hatred and a hint of dread lacing his words as he explained, "Grandfather won't like this. A member of the Blacks who is on the side of a family that clearly works against Him and, on top of that, seeks to stop His Ascension, and using an obsessively-focused House Elf too? I swear, the minute we help Him embrace His true calling, that little runt's soul is mine!"

Suddenly, the lights flickered, while the cold feeling grew stronger, earning an alarmed gasp from Dennis as he reached over, grabbing his brother's hands as he insisted, "Careful, Colin: remember, Mum said that you were the Anointed One, but that doesn't mean you should risk exposing us, or Him, before He has come into his powers. If you do, He will be in even greater danger than ever; remember your mask, big brother!"

Clutching the camera he wore around his neck – just one piece of the mask he had to keep in place…for now – Colin took several deep, calming breaths, though not before his grip grew tighter as he clenched his teeth before, as though it was a mantra he'd taught himself to help, Colin began to mumble under his breath.

"I'm excited to meet the Boy-Who-Lived…I'm going to take lots of pictures to show my parents…I'm excited to meet the Boy-Who-Lived…I'm going to take lots of pictures to show my parents…I'm excited to meet the Boy-Who-Lived…I'm going to take lots of pictures to show my parents…"

Soon, the atmosphere in the compartment became normal again, earning a relieved look from Dennis, while Colin smiled thankfully as he looked at his younger brother.

"Thanks, little bro; that was close."

"Just remember, Colin," said Dennis, slipping his notebook into his trunk before he smiled softly as he looked back to his brother.

"As far as anyone else knows, we're Colin and Dennis Creevey: twin brothers who are as naïve and excited about coming to the Magical World, and meeting our idol, its hero, the Boy-Who-Lived, for the first time. And that has to be the way until we make our true selves known to Him."

"When Death Becomes Him, He Shall Become Death," said Colin, earning a slow nod from Dennis, who smiled wolfishly before he responded.

"And Death's Pale Hand shall once again rule the Land."

So, a short, but spooky start that somewhat sets the scene for an even spookier second season at Hogwarts School…but what does it all mean, especially for the Boy-Who-Lived?

Who, or what, exactly are Colin and Dennis Creevey – whom are twins in this story's universe; fraternal, not identical – and what are they hoping to accomplish in getting a chance to be close to the mysterious Him?

AN: Portrayals

Colin Creevey: Isaac Hempstead-Wright

(I know he had a portrayal in Chamber, but I have my own idea; such is the fun of Fanfiction)

Dennis Creevey: Thomas Brodie-Sangster

AN (1)

In case anyone's wondering, the 'fading' ability that Colin and Dennis used to 'return to their bodies' was inspired by the power of the same name – Fading – from Charmed and looks the same as it does in that fandom series.
