MY OC DONUT STEEL

once upon a time, there was a tribe in the great steppe that was so tough that all the other tribes, countries and nations shat bricks (not literally). and the name of this tribe was... the BULGARS! REPRESENTED BY YOUR ONE AND ONLY BULGAR, ALSO KNOWN AS OLD GREAT BULGARIA! yeah he was great and stuff but he got killed by khazaria in the 7th century. but dont worry! not everything is lost! his sons, danube bulgaria and volga bulgaria, continued their father's legacy of coolness, radness, toughness and prosperity! currently, old great bulgaria is a ghost who likes to troll people, although he has to spend most of his life -um not exactly life cuz hes already dead- his existence in the afterlife. still, boring is the least fitting word you'd want to use in describing his afterlife. after all, he spends his time with no one other than the country who killed him, that is, khazaria. and is there a better way of taking revenge against your murderer than annoying, pranking and bullying them for eternity?

ok so i'm gonna describe how this character looks, what his culture used to be, his history, etc etc then i'll describe his personality

well he looks kinda similar to the bulgaria we have in hetalia (green eyes, dark hair). but i imagine that he has a mustache and maybe also a beard. the bulgars were a very warlike people, so he'd probably have a sturdy, muscular build, as well as several scars. his head would be shaved, with the exception of the top of the head, where his hair would be left to grow and be braided (said braid would reach his shoulders). many peoples who inhibited the great steppe used that male hairstyle (with some differences). as for his clothes/style, he'd wear a short kaftan, pants and leather boots without hard soles (just like the other steppe nomads). in war, he'd wear a helmet and some sort of a chestplate. he pretty much used to be a pagan nomad, although there were also bulgars who practiced crafts and agriculture and who lived in towns. the bulgars were clearly mentioned in for the first time in the 5th century, although there's an obscure reference to them on a map in the 4th century. they'd raid other countries for riches and various cool stuff. in the second half of the 6th century, some of the bulgars fell under avar rule, while others were submitted to the rule of the western turkic khaganate. but in the 7th century, a chieftain named kubrat united them and created an independent country! very pog but not for long bc after kubrat's death, the country was crushed by the khazars. hordes of bulgars fled the khazars and settled in places like the middle volga, the lower danube, pannonia (they then moved to macedonia) and italy. some probably remained under khazar rule idk. whatever most of the bulgars got assimilated but the ones on the danube and on the volga didn't lose their identity (even though they mixed with the local population). the ones on the volga were conquered by the mongols in the 13th century and gradually lost their identity though.

* will beat u up if u insult bulgarian yogurt
* or his horse
* then, he will make you apologize to the horse for hurting its feelings
* likes to stress that he's OLD and GREAT

* although he might feel bad for them later
* also sees people who try hard to be special as obnoxious
* those who need to obey others to feel safe and secure are the most pathetic to him though

* nothing personal, he just finds it amusing how much america fears ghosts

* thought of a motorcycle as of an iron horse
* and believed its headlight to be its eye
* which ended up with him crashing into a tree and being surprised that a horse with an eye that big couldn't see the tree in front of it and dodge it
* but he was fine bc he's a ghost
* plot twist: it was indonesia's motorcycle

* likes memes and new things, as well as new trends
* actually he's pretty happy that he's a ghost bc he doesn't want to miss on stuff, he wants to experience the world fully

* recently began calling himself "old great POGGARIA" instead of old great bulgaria and POGGER instead of bulgar

* cuz he sees himself as that epic and great

* his middle name if u wish
* u know that feeling when u comment "pog" at something? well that's how he feels about himself all the time, hence him changing his name to poggaria
* also it's useful in annoying people
* when someone asks him "weren't u old great bulgaria/bulgar?" he replies with "STFU THATS MY NAME NOW AND IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN U'LL REFER TO ME WITH IT OR I'LL BEAT UR ASS"

* enjoys bullying the nations across the world as a ghost

* without someone to bully, old great bulgaria's afterlife would be very boring (he can't haunt the living nations all the time, most of the time he has to stay in the afterlife)

* he feels some weird sense of respect for khazaria for having succeeded in taking him down, that's why he's interested in interacting with him, otherwise, he'd bully others he respects (e.g. greece's mom) and not him
* often, when he gets too annoying, khazaria shuts him down with "stfu i killed u, i'm stronger and cooler than u"
* depending on his mood, old great bulgaria replies with either a punch, with "yeah but i have kids and u don't, ur long forgotten while my glory lives on" or with "u stfu u too got killed"
* he thinks he doesn't need anyone but if it wasn't for khazaria, he'd have gone mad from boredom and loneliness

* proud of his kids
* hangs out with his kid(s? is volga bulgaria still alive under another name?) sometimes and gives them advice
* occasionally expresses disappointment that his son bulgaria is not AN EMPIRE THAT RULES OVER THE ENTIRE FRIGGIN WORLD but he's still happy with what bulgaria has accomplished... although he could definitely try harder in modern days
* the thing is, universe rules prevent him from telling his son(s?) secrets about others that could give his son(s?) advantage in stuff like wars, economics, etc... although he can hint at stuff, he's smart u know
* although nobody's sure if his son(s?) is(are?) as smart as him... and if he will be understood correctly

* maybe the reason why he likes to annoy and bully people so much is bc he's afraid of being forgotten... cmon let's face it he's a ghost, he's dead
* his son bulgaria doesn't even speak his language
* he also uses cyrillic and not the bulgar runes which are not deciphered even today
* also 59-77% of people in bulgaria are orthodox christian (and I guess the hetalia character is too, having accepted christianity in 865) while old great bulgaria was pagan
* and bulgaria's culture has elements of other cultures (slavic, balkan)
* when it comes to bulgaria's culture, bulgar folklore elements are fewer than slavic and balkan ones
* imagine old great bulgaria and bulgaria like
