"Percy pay attention!"
My eyes snapped up to Annabeth's. It's another morning in the cafeteria I'm spending working on this project.
I rubbed my eyes, exhausted. I haven't slept a wink last night. The constant waves of thoughts of what transpired yesterday kept me up. Seeing my grandfather for the first time as well as my great uncle, unlocked a series of emotions. I stared at the textbook, squinting at the directions as the words fumbled and jumped.
"Did you even listen to a word I said?" She snarled at me.
"Of course, you said to pay attention." I sighed as we were getting nothing finished this morning.
She let out a loud groan. She started to pull out a curly strand of hair from her ponytail, and tugged it in frustration.
"Alright look, I know I haven't been at my best for a few days now. It's just that a lot has been happening lately, and this project just happens to be on the back burner. Once everything settles down I'm sure we'll be able to finish this."
"We don't have time seaweed brain! We cannot afford to put this project on hold. We need every single minute of cooperation to be able to get an above average grade. There's simply no time for you to put your progress on yourself in front of this project. Put your recovery on the back burner until second semester."
"Are you really telling me to put a grade before my health?" I asked in disbelief.
"It isn't just your grade you know. It also reflects my grade, which then will be put on my transcript."
"I swear I can hear both of you bickering from the parking lot." Jason grumbled while he and Thalia joined us at the table.
They as well looked exhausted. Both of them had dark circles underneath their eyes. They both looked miserable as they sat down.
Annabeth just rolled her eyes and went back to flipping through the textbook.
Grover and Piper joined the table a second later. Both of them scanned all of our expressions and settled down with a grimace.
"What's up with the sour faces?" Grover asked.
Jason and Thalia shared a look before glancing at me. I sighed in response.
"Family drama? Man your family could have a hit series on the TLC network." Grover muttered between bites of his apple.
"How's the project coming along this morning, Annabeth?" Piper asked.
Annabeth just huffed in response, while continuing to messily scribble down some notes.
"Ok, I see it's going fantastic then. Anyways Jason and I are going to see the new Avengers movie tonight." Piper concluded.
"Sorry Piper, I'm gonna have to cancel it. There's been an unexpected surprise that I have to deal with. It may be awhile before I can do stuff besides school."
Piper glanced at Jason with a questioning look. Jason shrugged it off. Both Thalia and Jason moved their eyes to me.
I grimaced under their look. I begin to suspect that they know of my encounter yesterday with Grandfather and Oceanus.
Before I can voice it, the starting bell rung over the intercom system. I sighed while I stood up and grabbed my crutch. I made may to Economics.
6th Period
I sat down with my tray of food. It's chicken patty day. Everyone else at the table is seated before me.
I sighed and picked out the pickles on my sandwich.
Grover is trying to make small talk, "So how was everyone's morning?"
"Mostly uneventful, but all of the teachers decided to double the amount of homework we usually get." Piper said.
Thalia snorted, "I'm not doing any of the homework they gave us. Percy why are you taking the pickles out? If you're not going to eat those, can I have them?"
Annabeth gave Thalia an exasperated look, while I shrugged and handed her the pickles.
Thalia's phone buzzed. Thalia pulled it out and lazily turn the screen on and read the text.
"Jason we're going to Uncle P's house for a family meeting tonight" Thalia read the text to Jason.
I sighed, it probably has to do about yesterday's encounter.
"What's going on over there? You three have been exchanging looks all day?" Annabeth asked.
"Percy had an encounter with our Grandfather and Great Uncle yesterday." Thalia replied still looking at her phone.
"The same one who's been suspected of killing Bianca?" Annabeth questioned.
I spat out my water and coughed. That was information that I didn't know. He killed Bianca? Bianca died when she was walking home from school. A car ran her over and crushed her to death. Nico was there and barley dodged the car himself. They never caught the driver.
As I was wheezing, Piper asked, "Who's Bianca?"
"Bianca was our cousin, Nico's older sister." Jason explained grimly.
Piper looked as horrified as me. Both Grover and Annabeth had grim faces, but didn't look shocked, like they already knew this information.
What else didn't I know? Wait how does Annabeth know that?
"He did what!?!" As I recovered from my coughing fit.
Both Thalia and Jason look over at me with a confused expression, "You didn't know that?" Jason asked.
I shook my head no. Both Thalia and Jason exchanged another glance.
"I thought Poseidon would've told you that. It isn't confirmed that he was indeed the driver, but after the threats he gave before the incident, the evidence is overwhelming." Thalia spoke slowly.
"Threats? What did he have against Bianca, she was only twelve!? If there's evidence why haven't the police do anything?"
"He didn't have anything against Bianca, at least we don't think he did. It mostly involved Hades, and what happened was to get back at Hades. That is what the threats have hinted at. As for the police, they won't do squat since our Grandfather is powerful and rich." Thalia spat.
I stared at the table. This is more complicated and messy than I thought it was.
I stood outside of Triton's car for what seemed to be a life time, before he finally showed up and unlocked the car. I hopped in.
"What kept you so long?" I asked as I put the seatbelt on.
He ignored me. He just started to pull the car out of the parking lot. Instead of heading to the aquarium, I realized we were heading home. Triton probably forgot some equipment and is heading back for it, I thought.
As we turned on our street, I realized our father's car and Amphitrite's car was parked in the driveway. I know we have a meeting tonight, but that isn't until later. I'm confused why they are here this early.
Getting this weird vibe, I just shrugged and grab my one crutch and made my way inside.
Both Poseidon and Amphitrite were sitting at the kitchen table. I started to grow more uncomfortable since this very unusual behavior for them. My father usher me to sit down.
I pulled the kitchen chair out and sat down, feeling very uncertain. I could hear Triton come inside and shut the door. My father usher him to sit down as well.
"As you both know, your grandfather knows who you are and made contact." My father started off.
I nodded slowly, waiting for him to continue.
"As I said he is a dangerous man. Percy there are some things I need to tell you, so you can understand how psychotic this man is."
"Do you mean what he did to Bianca?"
My father tensed and looked at his wife who shook her head. Then he shot Triton an accusatory glance.
"I didn't tell him." Triton blurted out and held his hands in surrender.
"Thalia told me. She thought that I would have known that by now." I said with a raised brow.
"Well I kinda of hoped I didn't need to, but after yesterday... There's more you need to know. "
I raised my brow once more. Curiosity spreading through me since my father never talked about his parents before.
"My father never approved of your mother and I's relationship." Amphitrite face grew sour at the mention of my mother "He's very money oriented, and you know your mother wasn't fortunate when it comes to wealth. I cut contact with him after voicing his displeasures, but he didn't stop."
The feeling of uncertainty spiked after that comment. Didn't stop?
"It all really started after you were born Percy. He left us threats, saying he was gonna make us bankrupt or make us unemployed. It made your mother and I very uneasy at first, but we ignored it. Then those threats turned into death threats, that is why your mother and I broke it off. We didn't want our relationship to end up killing one of us or you. So we split for your safety."
Amphitrite cleared her throat. Her uncomfort visible on her face.
"Everything stopped afterwards. It wasn't until Bianca's death that I was informed about his possible involvement. Hades was getting those threats for being with Maria, and Zeus was also being with his multiple affairs. None of us pieced together that it was happening to each of us, until Bianca's funeral Hades mentioned the threats. We haven't heard anything else from our father, until yesterday."
My father looked very concerned. "My father doesn't make idle threats. He did try multiple times to make me bankrupt and unemployed, though the attempts failed. And he made threats towards Bianca and succeeded."
My father let out a sigh and took out a letter. From his pocket. I scrunched my brows in confusion. Both him and Amphitrite looked very serious at this moment.
"Sons. I received this letter on my desk at work. It's a death threat directed at the both of you."
I stared at the back of the letter. Poseidon shielded what was written from both Triton and I.
"Your grandfather is a very powerful man. You need to know that no one is gonna help us. This man showed that he is above the law and can commit any crime he pleases. Both of you need to be vigilant at all times. This is very serious."
I nodded, speechless. The information barely registering.
Do you guys need an explanation at this point about my updating skills?
My dog was diagnosed with cancer. Then got the tumor surgically removed. Sadly it grew back with a vengeance. We had to put her down last month.
That's what happened since I last posted here six months ago.
