Finally, Nami grinned up at her flower of heat and cool bubbles, and let hell break loose. A small spark transformed into a huge storm and in minutes, the whole room had been thrown into a havoc where no one could stand on their feet. The number of people struck down by lightning and caught up in the tornado went up everywhere.
Nami created a small cloud for herself and stood on it, levitating above the rest. The scene was breathtakingly startling.
But suddenly, a flash of light appeared in the doorway and in an instant the storm was cleared until there was nothing shining in the room but the figure in the doorway. The scientist bowed in the presence of the visitor and Nami had to squint her eyes as she tried to get a good look at the man.
Nami's eyes grew from the size of bugs, to the size of plates as she dropped to her knees in horror. She wouldn't be able to take this man on, even if she tried. Having never met him in person, Nami had heard about him worldwide. How he dropped from the admiral ranks and soared back up, as if nothing ever happened. If there was anything suspicious about the marines, it would be this guy.
"Ah, so they were right. They warned me about the potential intruders and how they could be somehow connected to the straw hat boy," his voice floated into the room. His eyes were hidden under his dark sunglasses but the lazy glance he casted was intimidating.
"Do you know what the world calls you now? The Fallen Straw Hats," he continued, "Ever since your entire crew entirely dropped from our radar and disappeared into nothing. Some even think you're dead."
Nami scowled. "Yes, I know. I wasn't on another planet when the gossip spread," she spat. "What are you doing here, Kizaru?"
His hidden eyes shifted his gaze towards Nami, who stood proudly on a cloud above them all. But under his presence, even she trembled a little bit. "Weather girl... The one with the nice chest... Your name was Manny?"
Now, she shook with rage. "The one with the nice chest?! Your pervert! It's Nami to you!"
A smile appeared on his face. "Ah, yes. Nami. Now, Nami-san, would you mind getting down from that cloud. It's a bit difficult for me to have to crane my neck like this for such a long time. I'm an old man, you know." When she didn't reply, Kizaru flexed his right leg and light shone from it. Quicker than any lightning Nami had seen, Kizaru kicked his leg towards Nami and a ray of light stretched from his leg, cutting the cloud in half.
Nami fell.
Before she knew it, her arms and legs were scrambling to get up only to be kicked down by Kizaru again. Nami gritted her teeth and bit her tongue, it was spilling with blood. "Kizaru!" she screamed, struggling to stand up. "You-" But she struggled to get her words out.
Nami had never seen this admiral in person, nor had she fought him. But she remembered, Luffy, Zoro, Sanji had fought him twice. Kizaru was incredibly strong, he had beaten the three in one fight. Nami still remembered fearfully watching them. They had damaged so much that they were on the brink of death. But of course, in the end the moster trio had sucked up their strength and life and fought him until they had won. Kizaru nearly dead.
Kizaru closed it on her, his swarm of scientist following closely behind as if Kizaru were their shield. Kizaru fired another ray of light at Nami, causing her to gasp and fall to her knees again. The breath had been sucked out of her lungs and the pain vibrated through her bones.
To be facing a tough opponent again, when was the last time Nami had been in such a situation? And alone? Then it finally clicked. Light was the key.
Kizaru forced his foot on her, it was burning with light. "How does it feel? The world will never know that the Straw Hats are up and in action again. But then, I doubt they ever will be. You won't be able to do this, Nami-san."
"Yes," Nami said and glared up at him. "Yes we will. The Straw Hats won't ever back down to the likes of the government and we will dominate this world again. Luffy is the Pirate King."
"Is he now?"
Suddenly, Kizaru finally noticed his leg. The light was gone and instead, Nami's own weather wand was sparking with electricity. Nami smirked. "Your light was all I needed to make my own lightning more powerful." She pointed her weather wand at him and smiled. "Goodbye, Kizaru-kun." A wave of powerful electricity shot from her wand and enveloped the man, causing him and his body to shake with electricity as he screamed. The electricity didn't only power his body into overdrive which caused his bones and muscles to spasm, but it completely scorched his skin until the flesh was burnt dry.
But suddenly, the man disappeared as quick as light. That's right, Nami had forgotten he could teleport like that. Before she knew it, Kizaru's light had regenerated his body and was running straight for her. Nami was frozen; she didn't know what to do.
"Not so smart now, huh-"
A sword stabbed him from the back and Nami blinked. Behind Kizaru stood Zoro. He was panting and sweating as he pulled his sword from Kizaru and kicked the man away. "Oh... huff... good," Zoro panted, "I got him."
Nami quickly recovered from her shock and grinned at him, "Yup! Pretty much. You didn't have to hurry back so quickly, I was just about done. But it's good that you're here. Now we can go down and get Franky together."
Zoro nodded, still gathering his breath. "I'm just glad you're okay. I really thought you were going to be killed. When did you become so reliable?'
She poked a tongue out at him. "I was always reliable! The only unreliable thing was you and your navigation. It's a miracle you even got here." Nami turned to the middle of the room where a glass elevator stood. "Anyway, it's time to get going. Franky's waiting."
Zoro nodded and joined Nami in the tight elevator, squeezing his muscles into the small space as best he could. Nami could barely breath as he reached to press the button. The elevator was surprisingly slow and as Nami tried to breath, her eyes drifted to Zoro who stood merely centimetres away from her. The whole situation was suffocating and embarrassing.
"C-couldn't you move a little? I can barely breath here," Nami fumed, her face turning red.
Zoro grunted, "What, embarrassed already? I can't move. Why did they make it so small? How did Franky even fit through here?!" He mumbled a few more complaints but then stopped when he noticed Nami's thinking expression. "What is it?"
Nami tapped her chin for a moment and the corners of her lips twitched. "Franky couldn't have gotten it through here like this! There must be another way, and output at every level that's big enough for every one of their experiments. Maybe we can get out through there instead."
"Huh? So where is it?"
"I have no idea."
"Well, that's helpful."
"More helpful than your brain." Nami rolled her eyes. "You'll have to help me quickly find an exit while I persuade Franky to come with us." Zoro suddenly pulled out his sword and sliced it against the glass, causing a crack and a plate of glass to fall into the dark abyss they were travelling through. Nami gaped. "Zoro?!"
"I needed to breathe."
"Find another way!" Nami chided, but did nothing to resolve it. Sometimes it was better to just let Zoro's idiocy run wild. If she tried to interfere, it would only result in worse trouble than she was already in.
After a long wait, light finally shone through and Level Five came into sight. Nami got ready to burst out of the elevator as her eyes searched for Franky, but a sudden fire of bullets knocked her out in a blow.
The glass elevator shattered and Nami fell on Zoro, both pierced by the bullets. Blood spilled from her body and even Zoro stumbled as he stepped out of the elevator.
The scientists here had been trained and were armed from the very minute they arrived at this place. They had to be ready for any intruders in case they had to kill them. Nothing from the outside was allowed to come in, and nothing about the inside was allowed to be spread to the outside world.
It was like, the bullets had seeped away all of Nami's strength, yet she was still forcing herself to keep her eyes open. Then, her eyes fluttered open and they landed on a metal experiment bed. On it, strapped to the bed lay a huge cyborg.
"Franky!" Nami screamed, clawing away from Zoro and staggering towards the cyborg. "Franky, can you hear me?"
There was no reply.
"Oi! Franky!" Zoro hollered at him, his voice raising above the sound of the bullet shots. He made an attempt to stand up despite the constant bullets that were firing at him. Blood didn't matter now. "You better stop dozing off right now! Seven years gone and you're not even going to respond?! Do you have any sense of pride left? We've got to go. Do you hear me, Franky?!"
A figure finally appeared from the shadows. He wore an evil smile as he watched Nami and Zoro pitifully. "He can't hear you anymore. He can't feel anything anymore. See this cyborg?" the man patted Franky on the head, "This hunk of metal is mine now."
