Death Arms stifled a yawn. He regretted taking U.A. up on the job offer. The school was always in need of additional security around the campus, and often reached out to up and coming heroes as a way of building up their resumes. It was a good opportunity, and usually incredibly boring so it was good money. But at a little after one in the morning, after a particularly grueling day and patrol hours before, Death Arms wanted nothing more than to crawl into bed and go to sleep.

It had been a slow night, as most tended to be, but they hadn't even run into the odd student leaving the gym or library. Not too much of a surprise he supposed, most students had left campus for the rest of the weekend after the Sports Festival. Death Arms decided that he was allowed a small break on a slow night, and took a seat on one of the benches in the Arboretum on the fringes of the campus.

His knees were killing him. He'd been part of a rescue operation earlier in the week and he'd been trying to show off for the cameras and had jumped out of a third story window with a hostage. Sure he'd gotten the hostage to safety, but he'd also shredded his knees.

He heaved a heavy breath as he massaged his knee cap. He had a brand endorsement coming through in the next week, and he was tempted to use the money on hiring a private masseuse. Either that or maybe he should actually listen to what Kamui had said and actually go see a doctor. But doctor's offices were havens for gossip when it came to the younger pros, and the last thing his hero ranking needed was some schmuck taking a video of him at the doctors office. He didn't need people thinking he was banged up or his rank would suffer.

Something crunched behind him, and he swiveled on his chair and peered into the darkness. Leaning an arm on the back of the bench, he squinted through the darkness and tried to see if there was anything walking his way. But the light over the bench was making the darkness seem even more like a never-ending void and he didn't see anything. He shrugged to himself, not like it was going to be anything. Probably nothing more than a squirrel or maybe one of the students had a cat or something.

That was the nice thing about working at U.A., things were boring. Sure it could be a bit tedious at times, but at the end of a long day, sometimes it was nice to know that he was getting paid to just sit around and do nothing.

The breeze picked up around him, whirling around and sending a small shiver down his spine. That was weird, he thought to himself, they hadn't been expecting a summer wind storm tonight. But he supposed it wouldn't be the first time that the weather guy had gotten it wrong.

Something loud thudded directly behind him, and he turned around. Squinting, he tried to peer through the darkness but it was useless,

"Hello?" He called out, "Yo, ArmBar is that you? I can't see anything out there step into the light so I can actually see you."

There wasn't a response.

Frowning, Death Arms reached into his pocket and pulled out the small radio all of the guards around the campus carried around with them.

"Yo, is there someone else in the Northern Sector right now?" But there was no response. There wasn't even static. His heart beginning to hammer somewhat, he turned the radio off and back on again, but still nothing.

Dead.

He pulled out his phone, he still had service and his phone had turned on. Maybe whatever was going on was a just a simple radio failure? Faulty equipment or something?

Something growled out in the darkness, and Death Arms shuddered. Unconsciously he slid into a defensive stance, bringing his hands up in front of him. That noise…hadn't been natural.

"Who goes there!" He bellowed, and the growling returned, louder and closer than before. Something was wrong, he wasn't sure what, but his stomach was clenching up as adrenaline began to flood through his system. He was about to turn and run, but before he had the chance, something moved.

Faster than anything he'd ever seen before, a shadow raced through the darkness towards him. A large, leathery purple hand darted out and wrapped itself around his head and hefted him off the ground. He thrashed wildly, acting out of a desperate instinct as he punched at the arm, but it was like punching steel. His feet kicked out, as he thrashed desperately.

As he kicked out, his assailant stepped out of the darkness and Death Arms got his first look at the monster. It was large, easily over eight feet tall. Its body was purple and heavily muscled. Large, avian eyes stared down at him, unblinking and inhuman. Instead of a mouth, was a large almost beak-like structure, which opened up into a snarl as it emanated a low, predatory growl. But the most horrifying feature of the monstrosity was the exposed living brain at the base of its skull.

Death Arms' thrashing increased. He twisted, grunted, punched and kicked, but it was an exercise in futility. The monster didn't even budge. The creature brought up a second hand and wrapped it around his head. Slowly, painfully, the monster began to squeeze. Death Arms tried to scream, but his voice was muted by the large palm around his mouth. The pressure grew in intensity, and the pain became blinding. Horror and fear coursed through him, as his desperate thrashing increased.

The pain became blinding.

Something crunched.

And Death Arms faded into the abyss.

The Nomu dropped the dead hero to the ground. The blood and brain-matter of the once promising hero dribbled down from its fingers, coalescing into a small pool on the ground. A smaller man stepped up beside the Nomu. His pale-blue hair blew in the wind as he reached up and began to scratch at his chin. His features were entirely covered by a dismembered hand that had been fashioned into a make-shift mask.

He gazed down in distaste at the fallen hero, nudging the man's body with the toe of his boot.

"And so the game begins," he said softly, his voice was coarse and rough,

"The time to expose the heroes for what they are…has finally arrived."

BREAK

The alarms were loud. Like a fire alarm but cranked up by thirty decibels. The dorm's emergency system lights had flicked on, bathing Izuku in an eerie red glow as he threw on a shirt and darted out of his room. The rest of his section-mates were scrambling out of their rooms as well. Their hands covering their ears as they gazed around in confusion, shouting at one another to be heard over the din.

"What's going on?"

"Are we under attack?"

"Kaminari, were you smoking again?"

"Hey don't put this on me! I didn't-"

"Izuku!" Yaoyorozu shouted, her hands also around her. Her eyes were wide, and she was trembling, "What's happening—what is this? Are we under attack, are we-"

"Momo!" Shouted Izuku, wrapping his hands around the side of her face and gazing intently at her, trying to convey the importance of the situation through his expression,

"Bunker!"

Yaoyorozu's eyes widened further, as her trembling grew in intensity.

"W-what…bunker? Izuku what-"

"Bunker!" Izuku roared again. This was not a time for being patient or understanding. This was the genuine article, a real and honest-to-god attack. They needed to get their classmates to safety and Izuku couldn't be wasting any more time trying to get his vice-president on the same page.

Yaoyorozu nodded shakily, and Izuku spun around and raised his voice high above the alarm,

"Everyone! Shut up and follow us!" Izuku bellowed, grabbing Yaoyorozu by the hand and racing down the stairs.

"Izuku, what's happening?" Asked Yaoyorozu,

"No idea," he lied, "Probably just a drill, but better to be safe than sorry, right?"

"But-but," spluttered Yaoyorozu, "But why wouldn't they tell us that they were doing this! This is-"

"Wouldn't be much of a drill if they told us to prepare for it, now would it?" he grumbled, vaulting the last couple steps of the staircase as he approached the bookshelf blocking the hidden entrance to the bunker.

"Midoriya!" Called out Iida on the stairs behind him, "What is going on? Is the school under attack, or is this some sort of emergency drill?"

"No idea!" Shouted Izuku as he approached the bookshelf and pulled on the third book on the bottom row three times in rapid succession, "They didn't tell us anything,"

After doing so, he craned his neck over his shoulder and made a quick headcount of the students in the living room. Satisfied that the entire section was assembled in the living room, he turned his attention back to the bookshelf.

"What are you doing?" Asked Ashido, her fingers plugged firmly in her ears. Izuku ignored her and gestured over to Yaoyorozu. Thankfully, in spite of her shaken state, her body began to move on auto-pilot as she fell into place beside him. A holographic keyboard appeared in front of the pair of them. Izuku input a series of commands that had been drilled into his memory, and a panel opened above the bookshelf. From the panel, a shot of blue light illuminated the pair of them, scanning them from head to toe.

Once the scan was done, the light disappeared and the bookshelf opened up into a stairwell leading down into the basement of the facility.

"Downstairs!" Ordered Izuku, "Now!" He barked louder when nobody moved. In a rush, the students began to clamber down the stairs. Izuku and Yaoyorozu were the last two to follow down the steps. As Izuku stepped through the door, he slammed a fist onto a large button on a panel on the wall beside him. With a hiss, the door behind him slammed shut. He was just about to take a step down the steps, when an enormous explosion from somewhere nearby rocked the foundations of the house. He slipped, and nearly tumbled down the steps, barely managing to catch himself on the handrail.

"What the hell is going on!" Cried out Kaminari,

"It's an attack! It's villains, it has to be! We're all gonna die!" Wailed Mineta.

"Quiet!" Barked out Izuku, as he restudied himself. At the bottom of the stairwell was a large tunnel, lined with flashing red lights and leading to a large door at the end of the hall that looked like an enormous safe. At the side of the safe was yet another keypad. Inputting the number combination that had been drilled into his head, the pad beeped as a small light on the pad turned green. There was a loud hissing, and the sound of metal grating. With a groan of metal, the bunker door opened and Percy stepped aside.

"Everyone inside!" He commanded, but nobody moved for a moment, so he repeated the order but louder,

"Inside, NOW!" The statement was punctuated by another explosion from outside the building. The ceiling above them shook violently, as dirt fell down onto the ground around them. The rest of the section didn't need any further encouragement as they began to scurry inside. The explosions and shaking outside the building were growing in violence and intensity. The ceiling shook, as brick and concrete from the building above groaned in protest. The sound of gunfire ripped through the air, followed by shouting. Most of the students had made it into the bunker, with the exception of Todoroki and Bakugo. The two had stuck around the outside of the bunker, and were eyeing him warily.

"Midoriya," said Todoroki, his tone still dry and soft even amidst the chaos raging above them. "What is going on, this is more than just a training exercise."

"Don't worry about it, it's just a training exercise." said Izuku around gritted teeth, looking warily at the ceiling. Another monumental explosion shook the foundations of the building around them. He didn't think they had too much time before the ceiling collapsed entirely.

"Fuck that!" Snarled Bakugo, "Somethings happening, and you know what it is. What's going on?"

"I told you!" Snarled Izuku again, "Now hurry up and get the fuck inside or I'll-"

He was cut off as a massive shockwave rocked the building above them once more. There was a rumbling noise, and the three men looked up at the ceiling. A large crack had formed in the foundation above them,

"Uh oh," Izuku muttered. Grabbing the bunker door with one hand, he slammed the door shut just in time, cutting off Yaoyorozu's cry of surprise as he did so.

Just as the door closed, the ceiling collapsed entirely. Rock, brick, and concrete began to rain down into the tunnel. In unison, the three men trapped outside the bunker raised their heads. Bakugo's hands crackled to life, as he let loose a tremendous explosion that blasted away the debris from around him. Beside him, Todoroki let loose a torrent of ice. The ice washed over the cavern, and froze the remaining debris to the ceiling. Izuku grabbed the backs of both of the men's shirts, and with a minor shift of One for All to his legs, he quickly carried the men out of the way of the danger. They managed to get out of the way just in time, as another shockwave rocked the ceiling and Todoroki's ice was shattered.

Rock, ice, and other forms of debris fell to the tunnel with a thunderous explosion, creating a large wall that blocked off access to the bunker.

They came to a stop at the other end of the tunnel, near the staircase leading back up to the house.

"All right Deku," snarled Bakugo, grabbing a fistful of Izuku's shirt and pulling him close, "Cut the shit, what's happening."

Izuku glowered, slapping the man's hand away from him. He looked down at the wall below them. He sighed, and ran a hand through his hair. No sense in beating around the bush anymore he supposed. Not like they could get to the bunker now. Well, he supposed that wasn't entirely true, they could but it would take time and…to be perfectly honest he didn't want to sit down here and wait it out while villains rampaged above them.

"Villain attack," he said, looking back up at the other men, "I saw them come in. Someone with a warp quirk or some shit. I don't know, but I saw probably twenty or thirty people walk out of these portals just outside of campus. I called it in to Aizawa and he set off the alarm."

A nasty grin spread across Bakugo's face,

"Finally," he hissed, "About time we saw some action." He stood up, his hands crackling with energy and was about to blast off when Izuku's arm shot out and yanked him back down to the floor.

"Sit down!" Izuku seethed, years of combat experience flooding back to him all at once. "You go rushing out there, a fire under your ass, and you'll run straight into a fucking hornets nest. We need to figure out what the hell is going on, what kind of numbers we're looking at, what they're after or who."

"Get off me!" Snarled Bakugo, and it was his turn to swat Izuku's hand away, but he didn't make another move to leave, instead, he crossed his arms and glowered at the floor.

"A massive villain attack on the eve of the one hundred year anniversary of the U.A. massacre," muttered Todoroki, "This was planned. Intentional."

Izuku nodded, "I was thinking the same thing. They want to recreate the massacre, kill off a bunch of unsuspecting heroes in their sleep, make the headlines, all that shit."

"You said you alerted the teachers?" Asked Todoroki, and Izuku nodded, "That means that hopefully they managed to get the word out to the rest of the pros."

"I wouldn't be so sure about that," growled Bakugo, he was staring at his phone, "The fuckers are jamming signals. I've got no signal. Not even when I go off wifi."

Izuku pulled his own phone out and tried the same thing. True enough, even with the wifi turned off, he couldn't access anything that wasn't already downloaded on his phone. He tried sending a text to Yaoyorozu, but the text immediately failed to send.

"Must have someone with a quirk that can jam telecommunications or something." He muttered to himself, "Don't even know how that would even be possible."

"Quirks are fucking bullshit, that's how," grunted Bakugo,

"You must have sent the message to Aizawa right before they shut down the network," said Todoroki,

"Okay…" said Izuku slowly, "Okay…so the teachers know what's going on, but we have to work on the assumption that they weren't able to get the word out and there's not going to be any reinforcements coming soon. We're dealing with at least fifty villains, probably more. We know they're going after the students, which means they're probably targeting the hero students first."

"But do we want to run the risk of assuming they know where only the hero students are? What if they go after everyone else?" Asked Todoroki,

"Honestly, it shouldn't matter too much," said Izuku, "All of the dorms have these bunkers. They became school policy after the massacre. When the alarm went off, all of the students should have come down here." Izuku sighed and rubbed behind his ear,

"We're going to want to meet up with the teachers, I have a feeling they're going to need all of the help they can get."

"We go house-to-house," said Bakugo, and Izuku looked at him,

"What do you mean?" He asked,

"They're here for the students, meaning they're probably splitting up and moving from dorm to dorm. They've isolated themselves and that makes them vulnerable. So we should move from house-to-house, taking them apart as we move."

"That seems risky," said Todoroki, "That works under the assumption that they have no way to communicate with each other. What happens if we aren't fast enough, and they manage to get word out that there are students roaming around the campus attacking their friends? We would have fifty villains all bearing down on us at once."

Izuku bit his lip as Bakugo retorted. His first instinct was to run with Bakugo's idea. Sure they could simply sit down in the stairwell and do nothing, but that wasn't an option for him. Not really. If he were really considering that as an option, he would be in the bunker with the others. No, they were going to fight, but how did they go about it.

Todoroki raised a good point. They needed to be careful. If the villains were communicating with one another, then if they weren't quick enough they would be overwhelmed in moments. But was there really another option? Bakugo was right, the villains were clearly here for the students. That meant that they would be going into the dorms, and it wouldn't make sense to send every villain to one dorm at a time. They would be separate. Disjointed.

But that was what was more worrying about all of this. Villains didn't work together like this. Was this his doing? Was this his presence that had caused this? Had brought these people here like this?

He shook his head, he couldn't think like that right now. He needed to act. The longer they sat down here, the more damage was done up top, the more danger their teachers and professors were placed in. They might have been pro heroes, but against overwhelming odds even the most seasoned pro could fall.

And that said nothing about the monsters that Izuku had seen coming through the portal.

He made his decision.

"Bakugo's right," he said, "It's not a great option, and like you said Todoroki, it's not without risk. But there aren't any great options available to us right now. So we go with the least shitty option." He cracked his knuckles,

"So let's go get our feet wet, eh boys?"
