Chp. 4: Aura

June 12, 2020

It was now morning the next day and Watson sat at the table eating a bowl of cereal for breakfast as he continued to watch videos of RWBY fans reacting to Remnant's existence and their theories of what would happen next. He heard footsteps approaching and looked up to see a man with brown hair, green eyes, brown skin. He wore a grey suit, a white dress shirt and black and silver tie.

"Hey, dad," Watson said to the man that is his father.

"Morning, Alexander," Mr. Watson said.

"I thought you'd be at work today," Watson said.

"After everything that has happened the past two days, everyone was given time off until further notice," Mr. Watson said.

"Makes sense, I guess," Watson said.

"So how are you holding up?" his father asked.

"Aside from almost getting attacked two days ago, fine. I've managed to make a new friend aside from Lucas," Watson answered.

"I meant about what happened a few months ago," Mr. Watson said.

"Oh... that..." Watson bowed his head in sadness.

"I know. I miss your mother too," the father said with a sigh.

"I'm heading out," Watson said.

He stood from his chair and closed his laptop and then walked over to the front door. He opened the door and walked out, closing the door behind him.

"Where to?" Mr. Watson asked.

"Meeting up with Lucas at the mall," Watson answered.

"Alright. Be careful out there," the father said.

Frei Caneca Mall

Several minutes later, Watson and Lucas were walking down the mall passing shops around them.

"I can't believe this. The world of Remnant is confirmed to be not only real, but also somehow become a part of our world," Lucas said.

"I know. Crazy," Watson said.

"Let's just hope that nothing more crazy happens. People are already on edge as it is," Lucas said.

"I now feel like you just jinxed us," Watson said.

"Why? Salem and her allies are locked up and Cinder lies on her deathbed," Lucas said.

"True, but other problems would more than likely follow now that Remnant and Earth are now a singular world," Watson said.

"Good point. I guess all we can do now is wait and see what would happen next," Lucas said. "Anyway, are you and Yara doing?"

"Fine. Just friends if that's what you're asking," Watson replied.

As they were walking, Augusto and four other boys watched and listened from the entrance to one of the stores.

"That little bastard thinks he has a chance with Yara? Well we'll just see about that. Come on," Augusto said as he walked over to Watson and Lucas and gestured to the four boys with him to follow.

Watson and Lucas continue to walk down the mall as Augusto and his boys follow them from a distance. As the two boys continued walking, Lucas glanced at a window. He noticed reflecting off of the window was Augusto and the four boys pursuing them.

"Watson, don't panic, but Augusto is right behind us," Lucas whispered.

"What do we do?" Watson whispered back.

Lucas looks around for a moment and then sees a set of escalators.

"Watson, time to see those parkour lessons I've taught you pay off," Lucas said.

Lucas and Watson walked over to one of the escalators and stepped on to the moving steps. As the two were about halfway down the escalators, Augusto and his boys stepped on the escalator behind them. Just before Augusto could step down towards Watson and Lucas, the two suddenly jumped over the railing and landed on the floor below.

"Run!" Lucas shouted at his friend.

Watson and Lucas split off and ran in two different directions.

"Get 'em!" Augusto shouted.

He and his four boys ran down the escalator. Augusto and two of his boys began to chase after Watson, while the other two boys began to chase after Lucas. Watson ran out of the entrance of the mall and then began running across the street. A moment after, Augusto ran out of the entrance with his two followers.

"Get back here you little mistake!" Augusto shouted.

A car moves up in front of Watson as he quickly places his hands on the roof of the car and lifts himself up over the car and lands on the other side and continues to run for it. Watson ran down an alleyway as his pursuers followed behind. He sees a fence up ahead and jumps up and grabs the top of the fence. Watson then climbs the fence and hops over it and continues to run. Augusto and the two boys with him stopped at the fence. They watched Watson run away for a brief moment before running the other direction.

Watson ran out of the alleyway, then turned and ran down the sidewalk. Just as he reached the end of the block, Augusto and the two boys came from around the corner and grabbed on to Watson.

"Where do you think you're going?" Augusto mockingly asked. "We just wanna talk."

"You've been with Augusto's girl. And he doesn't like that," one of the two other boys said.

"Seriously? That's what this is about? She doesn't even like you!" Watson argued.

Augusto punches Watson in the two boys holding Watson drops him as he clenched onto his stomach in pain. Augusto reached his hand into his pants and pulled something out of it. To Watson's shock and horror, it was a gun. Augusto points the gun at Watson's chest.

"Like I said, next time your friend isn't around, you're fucking dead," Augusto said.

Augusto pulls the trigger and fires the gun at his chest, Knocking Watson to the ground. August smirked for a moment until he heard the sound of a siren. He turned to see a police cruiser driving up towards them.

"Let's get out of here!" Augusto shouted.

He and the two boys turned and began to run away. The cruiser pulled over next to Watson's downed body and two police officers quickly stepped out. One of their officers began to chase after Augusto and the two boys with him as the other crouched down to check up on Watson. Before the officer could check his pulse, Watson groaned and sat up.

"Lay back down. You've just been shot," the officer said.

"Actually... I feel fine," Watson said, surprised himself.

He got up from the ground, surprising the officer.

"That's impossible. How are you-" the officer paused mid-sentence. "Lift up your shirt please."

Without saying a word, Watson complies and lifts up his shirt, showing his bare chest and finds no bullet wound, shocking the officer even further.

"No bullet wound. No vest. How is that possible? I saw that kid shoot you directly in then chest," the police officer said.

"I don't know. I'm kind of surprised, myself," Watson answered, not sure himself.

"Well regardless, I need to take you in for questioning," the officer said.

"Can I make a really quick call first?" Watson asked.

"That's fine. But make it quick," the officer answered.

"The first officer then ran back and approached his partner as Watson pulled out his iPhone. He dial a number and then puts it in his ear as the line on the other end rings. A moment later, a voice came in.

"Hello?"

"Lucas, it's me. Are you alright?" Watson asked into his phone.

"Yeah. I've managed to get away," Lucas replied.

"Listen to me, I've just been shot," Watson said.

"Oh god! What?! Where are you right now?!" Lucas asked in a panic.

"Hold on, I'm also fine," Watson said.

"Wh- How are you fine if you've just been shot?!" Lucas asked.

"I don't know. Augusto shot me in the chest directly at point blank range and yet I have no wound and I'm not wearing a fucking bullet proof vest. I don't know how that's-" Watson paused for a moment as he looked down at his arm.

He briefly saw his arm flash blue for a moment. The answer to how he survived then hit him.

"I have aura," Watson said.

"Huh?" Lucas asked.

"Lucas. I think I have my aura unlocked," Watson replied.
