Undeath9087: It will have certain effects! And I hope you enjoy more light-hearted stuff.
Fugy: You'll have to wait and see.
Guest: At this stage Zia's just like 'You know what, I'll admit I was wrong about the gods after everything that happened'.
Percy was woken up by Sadie pouncing on her, the bed bouncing as Percy yelped and flailed at the surprise awakening. "Woah! Woah I'm awake I'm awake what-" Percy blinked slowly, her eyes narrowing at Sadie, "What the heck?"
"Get up!"
"Is everything okay?" Percy sat up instantly, eyes widening, "Is everyone-"
"They're fine." Sadie waved a hand dismissively, a grin on her lips, "Carter and Zia finally decided to go on that date to the Mall. And Sally told me to wake
you up- she said she's got to go out and she wants Bast to come with her for some reason so she wants us both up and dressed before she goes."
"Oh." Percy paused, "Did you have to jump on me?"
"Of course I did." Sadie grinned, "How else was I suppose to wake you? Just call your name? What would you do if it was me."
And Percy paused, blinking as she considered that before shrugging. It was a good point. "Fair enough." she swung her legs over the edge of her bed and stood up, stretching, "Go tell mom I'm awake, I'll be down in a minute." she paused, "Do you know why she's going out?"
"Not a clue." Sadie shrugged, "I figure if it's important she'll tell us. Bast doesn't know what's going on either. I already asked."
"Course you did." Percy nodded before she headed into her little bathroom- and less than fifteen minutes later she made it downstairs- and she smiled when she spotted her mom out on the terrace, staring out a the city, Sadie was sat down on one of the chairs eating some cereal.
"Hey mom." Percy smiled brightly at her mom- who gave her a distracted smile in return, moving away from the railings to greet Percy, pressing her lips to the top of the nine year olds head.
"Morning sweetie. You're going to have to stay with Sadie for a few hours until Bast and I get back or until Carter and Zia get back."
"Is everything okay mom?"
"Yes, yes of course." Sally nodded quickly, "I just have to do a couple of things with Bast and I'm not sure how long I'll be gone."
"We'll behave." Sadie spoke up quickly, "But- can I maybe take Percy out."
"Where do you want to go?"
"I wanna go get some stuff."
"Hmmm." Sally eyed them wearily, "Well, I suppose if you two were trustworthy enough to save the world together I can trust you both to behave if you go out- do you need any money?"
"No. I got a letter from Gran and Gramps yesterday, they gave me like, a hundred pounds which I got changed to dollars. They're feeling really guilty I guess."
"Well." Sally's expression became slightly strained "They do love you."
"I know." Sadie snorted, "But I'm still mad."
"You have every right to be." Sally's voice was firm. "Now, I'll see you kid when I get back. Don't blow anything up while we're gone okay-"
"Wait until I get back." Bast slipped outside to join them, winking as she did- which made Percy giggle and Sally laugh.
"You are a bad influence."
"Oh I know I am." Bast purred the words, "It's just so much more fun."
And less than ten minutes later Sally and Bast were gone. Percy turned to Sadie after waving goodbye, focusing on the older girl. "Where do you want to go then?"
"Oh this is gonna be fun." Sadie gave a sly grin as she stood up, "You hungry-"
"Not really-"
"Then let's get our shoes and coats and go."
"Is this something we shouldn't be doing?"
"Why? Will that stop you?"
Percy considered the question for a long moment before she shook her head, "No. But I wanna know how careful we gotta be."
"We'll be fine." Sadie laughed as they headed to grab their shoes and coats, "Trust me. You're gonna love what I have planned."
"I hope so." and Percy followed Sadie as they headed out of the mansion.
It wasn't their first time actually exploring the area around their new home- there were a decent amount of cafe's and stores around.
And soon enough Sadie was dragging Percy into the closest CVS.
"What are we doing here?" Percy's voice was confused as she was towed along after the older girl into the beauty sections- before her eyes widened when
Sadie came to a stop in front of the hair dye sections.
"Are you changing your hair again?" Percy tilted her head, somewhat confused- after all as far as Percy had known Sadie was pretty happy with her hair- though the red had faded into a paler pinkish color.
It still looked cool.
"I've got to fix it up again." Sadie told Percy seriously, "I always do it myself, Gran and Gamps never liked me doing it so they'd never let me do it at a salon so I'm pretty good." as she spoke she started grabbing boxes from the shelf, pushing them into the basket that she'd grabbed on the way in.
"I think you always look cool-" Percy paused, "Is that- bleach? But your hairs already light enough right?"
"Yep." Sadie's voice was almost singsong, "But yours isn't."
Percy blinked at that, it took her a moment to register what Sadie was saying but when she did she beamed at the older girl, "We're gonna do my hair like yours?"
"Not exactly like mine. But you did say you wished you could right?" Sadie asked, "I'm sticking with red again- and I think we should do your ends and some streaks. It'll look cool. So Percy, what colors do you want to go?"
"Uh-" Percy leaned forward quickly, looking at the shelves, "I dunno."
"Well." Sadie hummed as she reached over Percy's shoulder, grabbing a box, "Your favorite color is blue and you're little miss sea so why don't we go for a mix of blue and greens maybe. It could look cool."
"I can't believe we're doing this." Percy almost squealed the words, bouncing on her heels excitedly, "You're the best Sadie-"
"Of course I am." Sadie let out a little laugh, grabbing a selection of boxes and tossing them into the basket.
Then Sadie's arm was draped over Percy's shoulder and they headed to pay before rushing home.
Percy, of course, had no clue what she was doing with hair dye, but Sadie did, and so Percy did as she was told- she changed into clothes she didn't mind
getting ruined and they got to work, Sadie putting on some music- and they started with the bleach, of course, Sadie applying it carefully to the ends of Percy's hair and in streaks throughout, using her phone to set a timer to let it lighten- and when they was done they carefully washed the bleach away- Sadie hadn't used strong stuff, but Percy could see the effects when she looked at the ends of her hair as the bleach washed down the drain- it wasn't blonde- but it definitely didn't look black anymore- maybe a light brown, which Sadie seemed pretty pleased with.
They took a break at that stage, getting themselves some drink and spending some time out on the terrace eating cookies before they headed back inside again and Percy let Sadie get to work on the next stage of her hair. It was when they were pretty much finished that Percy noticed a minor issue-Sadie had decided the best way to mix the blues and green as to do them at the same time and see what happened- which was a technique that Percy could definitely get behind.
After all that was just how Percy usually went through life.
And it was Percy who noticed that Sadie hadn't put on the gloves that came with the dye on. And she blinked slowly, "Uh- Sadie."
"Yeah Percy?"
"Look at your hands." and Sadie did, blinking slowly as she focused on her hands and then she groaned.
"Oh gods." Sadie looked down at her hands, which were a startling shade of blue- with some tints of green in there too. "I look more blue than dad does now-"
"SADIE!" Percy laughed despite herself, before yelping when Sadie's eyes suddenly narrowed at her and she squirted the dye bottle at Percy- splashing it across her old tee.
"Oh you didn't."
"Oh I did." Sadie poked her tongue out at Percy, who's eyes narrowed.
Then she lunged forward, snatching the green bottle and pointing it at Sadie- who shrieked as the dye squirted across her own dirty old tee.
"Oh you didn't." Sadie gasped. "It is on!"
And by the time the timer went off to alert the two girls that the dye would be finished they were both covered in hair dye all over, but they were both laughing even as Sadie bent Percy so that she could wash the blue and green dye out.
Once the water was running clear and Sadie had applied and rinsed out the conditioner that came with the dye Percy willed her hair dry- and when she looked into the mirror she gasped loudly.
Because it might have been a messy and ridiculous job, but it had turned out pretty great, somehow, the dark blues and greens mixed well, they reminded her of a stormy deep sea when she shook her head- they'd ended up dying well over half of her hair- maybe three quarters up from the bottom- and there were streaks even higher up in her head, through the black, making it look even cooler when the light hit them right.
"Okay." Sadie's voice was smug as she stood behind Percy, "I think I did a damn good job with that. Don't you?"
And Percy whirled around, wrapping her arms around Sadie tightly, "Oh my gods Sadie you're the best! You're so cool!"
"I am." Sadie laughed as she hugged Percy back, "Wanna help me do mine now then Percy? Since yours is all done."
"Heck yeah!" Percy nodded quickly, and they got to work, though Percy mostly just helped hold things while Sadie did the actual dying.
Once the dye was in Sadie set the timer again, and it was about halfway through when they heard a loud knocking on the door- thankfully there was some kind of spell that made sure any knocking could be heard from anywhere in the house otherwise they'd have never heard it.
As it was the two girls exchanged confused looks.
"Who would be knocking on our door?" Sadie asked after a moment.
"I dunno." Percy frowned, "I doubt people from the House of Life would waste time knocking."
"Well." Sadie straightened up. "Let's go and find out."
"You'll definitely scare them off." Percy let out a giggle- sure she had dye on her clothes and her face, but Sadie was definitely more of a mess than Percy, with her blue- and now red, hands, her dye covered clothes and the silver foil locked around locks of her hair.
And she had to admit that when Sadie did yank the door open, she looked very fierce.
She looked so fierce that the tall dark skinned boy stood in the doorway took a step back, a startled look on his face. Percy heard Sadie let out a startled little squeak, but she ignored that- the boy was really tall, taller than Sadie or Carter Percy was sure- he looked around her brothers age too, and he was lean, muscular with his hair in a buzz cut so that it looked like a shadow on his head. He was wearing a sleeveless tee and a pair of running shorts, and he glanced between them both, as if he wasn't sure he believed his eyes.
"You're the Kanes, right?"
"Uh-" Sadie swallowed hard, her eyes wide and her face bright red. "Yeah, yeah we are. I'm Sadie and this is Percy. And you are-"
"Walt Stone." the boy stood slightly taller, "I'm the Blood of Pharaohs. I'm here to join you guys. I want to follow the Path of the Gods."
