Despite having proclaimed themselves to one another, they still didn't 'jump in the sack' as many of Castiel's romance novels stated happened after. No, but they did stay late on their little blanket, talking about nature and trees and bees and how they both liked it here.
Finally, Castiel learned a few things about his alpha - just like him, he lived in the city, but preferred to be out here in his cabin. His parents were hardworking folks and his little brother was a genius. The way the alpha talked about him showed Castiel just how much the alpha cared about his little brother and how proud he was of him. By the sound of it, the little brother was on his way to become quite a scollar, and the alpha was glad that he would get to continue his studies.
Apparently, they weren't a wealthy family up until a few years ago, but the alpha was vague about how they acquired their new status, only that his father invented something, and Castiel was so curious, because it was a pretty big deal to have an inventor in the family. He admired them, people with the ability to envision something and build it or make it, especially if it was something beneficial for the others.
But the alpha didn't want to talk about it, or about his parents and Castiel respected that. Afterall, he didn't want to talk about his mother and brother either. Why ruin a perfectly nice day? Especially since it was the end of Castiel's third day there and tomorrow, he would have to pack and leave for another month.
"Don't worry, Cas. I'll be here when you come back." The alpha said after Castiel told him, the warm smile and reassurances made Castiel simply melt. The alpha moved, just a little bit, his arm falling in an open invitation and with a small blush, Castiel leaned into the alpha's embrace. He inhaled deeply, but dared not lift his head and put himself in line with the alpha's neck.
He could hear the alpha doing the same, taking in a deep sniff, but he didn't expect the deep rumble that started in the alpha's chest and transformed into a moan halfway to his mouth. "Jesus, you smell incredible."
"Really?" Castiel was confused. He never had much of a scent, his mother and brother would say they could detect a small scent of baked goods and once, Michael said he smelled like fresh bread, and that was it. Nothing ever so mouth watering as the alpha seemed to think.
"Of course. You have the most delicious scent I have ever come across."
"What… what is it?" Castiel asked shyly. The alpha gave him a confused look for a moment.
"You mean you don't know what your scent is?"
"I… I can't scent myself and my mother always said I smell like a bakery, I was just… I was wondering if you could pick up something more?"
"Bakery? Oh, you smell so much better than a lousy bakery. There is hmmm…" and he was inhaling again, his eyes closed as if he was savouring the scent, the sight making Castiel want to squirm. "You smell like fresh cranberries and pie crust and caramel, hints of cinnamon and pumpkin and… warm and nice. Like Thanksgiving dinner, only better, more… Juicer… Delicious."
The way the alpha described it, it almost made Castiel's mouthwater. "Nobody's ever told me that."
"They are fools. They didn't know what they had…"
"Nobody had…" Castiel stopped himself, not because he didn't want the alpha to know, but because he was embarrassed, and he felt very foolish. He gasped silently and shuddered when the alpha reached and brushed his cheek with the back of his hand, so gently, so lovingly, it made Castiel's heart ache for the need to be… His.
The evening turned into the night, the stars spread across the sky, looking like sprinkles on a donut and to Castiel everything felt so nice and sweet, spending time in his alpha's warm embrace. They stayed there long into the night, just gazing up at the beautiful sky, hands shyly caressing, but nothing beyond the few innocent touches.
The alpha insisted he walk him home and once on the doorstep, Castiel turned and pulled the alpha into a soft kiss, a bare brush of lips, nothing more, yet the way it made the alpha blush to the tips of his ears made it all that much special to Castiel.
Synwash was always the area where a lot of the middle class resided, though it had improved over the years. The Winchester household was small, a little two bedroom house with a living room and kitchen all mashed together like they used to build in the 60s. Until John Winchester managed to sell his idea and make them rich. That's when Mary decided to expand a little, remodel, which was how they now had an independent kitchen and workspace for John.
Sam and Dean always shared their room, but with both boys being alphas, it was complicated, especially during ruts. That was one of the reasons Dean liked to go out into the woods, to Uncle Bobby's old cabin and spend his ruts there, but recently, it was more than that, he just felt like he belonged. City and all those uptight people, it was all Sam's scene more than it was his. So he spent as much time as he could in the woods.
Being an alpha herself, Mary understood the appeal of the wild, and she knew her older son was always drawn to it, to nature and the freedom it offered. To a tree, it didn't matter what kind of jeans you had or if you had the latest style jacket or cool glasses and stuff like that. To a tree, all that it mattered was the love and attention you were willing to give and it would give back the same. It was the simplicity of it that she knew Dean liked so much.
John didn't always understand, and he would grumble and nag about Dean's trips to the woods, but he never denied him and would always praise him whenever Dean made a new piece. He was just so good with wood and making those little figurines, it fulfilled him and both of his parents knew how important that was in life. To follow your dreams and just be yourself.
Which was why Mary was so surprised when John mentioned finding Dean an omega, but he wouldn't say much, as he didn't want to jinx it. When Mary pointed out that arranged marriages weren't a thing anymore and that Dean would fight him every step of the way, John just waved her off, saying that it wasn't like that. That he just wanted for his son to be happy, and if he got to introduce him to an omega he might like, well… No harm in that.
