Chapter 28: Coming Out

A: "Oh I see"

Alex had been surprised to learn that Steph had never told her parents that she liked girls. She imagined then that he was being strict and severe so that Steph didn't rise to reveal her to them. Alex, who was already stressed about meeting the parents of the person she loves, added to the fear that they would learn that she was Steph's girlfriend.

After walking for a while, the girls arrived at the apartment at 10:30 p.m.

S: "this is where my parents live" she declared, pointing to the building

Alex looked at the building while remaining silent.

The two girls then entered the building and then climbed the floors until they found themselves in front of the front door of Steph's parents' apartment.

Steph approached the doorbell and pressed disappointed

"Driiiiiiing"

On the other side of the door we heard a person hurrying to open it. This person then opened the door, it was Steph's mother who was throwing herself at her daughter.

L:" Stephanie where you left you rushed out and you came back so late you didn't even send us a message.

Steph was suffocating in her mother's arms as her father came up behind them.

George then looked at Alex.

G: "Hello, you must be the friend Stephanie came to get. I'm Georges, her father."

To: "Hello I'm Alexandra. Stéphanie's little friend"

Alex had almost blundered and revealed the secret that Steph did not want to reveal

George tapped his wife on the shoulder who was still smothering her daughter

G: "Lita we have a guest"

Steph's mother looked up and saw Alex

After making the introductions, Steph's parents had invited Alex back to their apartments. Once back they realized that it was late for Steph's mother to suggest to the two young girls to go wash and then go to bed. To be able to show up properly the next day.

Alex was amazed by all the objects that make up the room.

A: "woah Steh your room is great, I love it"

Steph, a little embarrassed, thanked her and approached her bed to inspect if everything was clean.

Alex, who was admiring the room, noticed a detail that caught her attention. She noticed a flipping photo. She really wanted to see what was on it, so she approached the paper and turned it over.

In the photo there was Steph with Chloe. From what had happened in the park Alex had concluded that the two girls knew each other however what challenged Alex was the presence of a third girl whose identity she did not know. However, looking at the photo more closely she could see that Chloe was holding the hand of the girl she didn't know. But above all she had noticed that Steph was looking at her friend with an air of jealousy in this photo.

Alex then took the risk of asking Steph who this person was.

A: "Steph told me. Who is the girl holding Chloe's hand in this photo"

Steph's eyes darken when she sees the photo.

S: "that girl was Rachel, Chloe's ex, she died shortly before the Arcadia Bay tragedy. She was a great girl."

Alex could feel through Steph that she was very sad for the loss of her friend but she could see some traces of love in her feeling she could deduce that Steph loved her.

Alex then approached Steph to comfort her she wrapped her arms around Steph's neck

A: "I'm here for you now"

She then sat down on the bed, still clinging to each other, then lay down together to fall asleep with her arms in her arms.

The next morning she woke up together they looked at each other eye to eye

S: "So you slept well"

Suddenly Alex stole a drop

A: "Very well" she smiled while getting up as if all the events that had happened until today were just a distant memory.

A few hours after the girls They had had breakfast and Alex had been able to properly introduce herself. She had gone back to Steph's room.

At this time Steph was about to make the hardest decision of her life, she was going to prepare to come out to her parents. She had been thinking about how to approach the subject for several years, she knew that today was the time to reveal the truth to them.

A: "are you sure you are ready"

S: "yes it's now or never"

Steph grabbed Alex's hand, opened the door to exit the bedroom, and walked over to her parents.

Steph took a deep breath

S: "Dad Mom I have something important to tell you.

The two parents looked at each other. As if they had been waiting for this moment for a long time. They also noticed that their daughter was holding Alex's hand in hers.

G: "we are listening to you my darling"

Steph took a deep breath.

S: "Here for all this year I've never really been interested in men. There is something that attracts me more dearly to women. In short, what I want to tell you is that I like women. I'm a lesbian. Before you say anything, Alex is a great person and she's the one I love."

During her monolog she had lowered her eyes. When she was done speaking, she looked back up at her parents. What was her astonishment when she noticed that both her parents were smiling.

L: "Stéphanie, we've known that for a long time. You don't know how happy it makes us that you're finally saying it. Alex is taking good care of our daughter"

Steph remains frozen in front of the reaction of her parents.

A: "Low you see it wasn't complicated. " Alex scoffed.

G: "you know we will support you in everything you do. We will always be behind you"

Steph picked up her spirit. Tears began to flow down her cheeks. She let go of Alex's hand, walked over to her parents and gave them a big hug. She was relieved to have finally been able to reveal her secret

S: "Thank you"

Alex smiled with a sad look, she was in the distance watching them with the family. A moment of family complicity that she will never be able to have again. Unless you start your own family
