REVIEW REPLIES:
Percabethworshipper: Thanks! It means a lot that you like it! And… I never planned on discontinuing it in the first place. I fully intend to finish as much of this series as I can. Thanks you for reviewing!
Guest: I'm glad that you like it! I wasn't really sure how many people would like to read a three-way crossover since you need to have read all three books, but it's nice to know that you enjoy it! I'll try my best to update more often, but school has been driving me crazy recently, so it might take a while. Thanks for reviewing!
DaughterofHecate: Thanks! I'm glad that you liked it! Sending Draco and Nico letters every week in the name of 'keeping in corrsepondence' sounds exactly like something Artemis would do! I'm glad you liked reading Draco's POV! I love writing it as well, for some reason, Draco's POV seems to be the easiest to write, probably because he's so relatable. Yeah, Dobby's hilarious! His intentions are pure, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions… I just figured that the Slytherins prefer to mind their own business, rather than getting too involved in Gryffindor affairs. Gryffindors would interfere and try to change things, Slytherins observe and move one, only making a few tweaks here and there if it suits them. Unfortunately, the reunion will have to wait(mainly because I didn't have time to include it in this chapter). Anyway, I hope you enjoy this chapter, and thanks for commenting!
Summer: Hi there! Thanks! Sorry about the short chapters, but I haven't had much time to write recently. Yeah, even though Draco is mainly portrayed Harry's bully/nemesis for a majority of the books, it's easy to feel sorry for him. Draco trying to use muggle means to contact his friends really was a huge step for him, even if it seemed unsignificant. I don't know why, but a Draco and Dobby friendship has always sounded really cute to me(even though Dobby still hero worships Harry). That part was funny to me too! I kept imagining a tiny Dobby trying to dangle Draco out of a window, it would probably look ridiculous! The window was probably pretty high up, but Dobby seemed okay with hurting Harry badly if it meant that he'd leave Hogwarts, so I assume that he wouldn't feel too bad about doing that to Draco. SO Draco definitely would've been injured(pretty badly), but he wouldn't have died. Yeah, Draco knowing that his father's up to something will certainly change things a bit. I'll keep that in mind! He definitely doesn't hate Draco, he just doesn't show his love very well(a lot like the gods actually) I'm glad that you liked it, and thanks for reviewing!
Kings Cross Station, September 1st
Kings Cross Station was usually a busy place.
However, on the first of September, Kings Cross wasn't just busy , oh no, on the first of September, Kings Cross station was teeming with people .
Every year, the hundreds of students attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry would pile into the station(which made the station extraordinarily crowded) with their (rather odd) supplies and run through walls, with the occasional muggle-born innocently asking the Station Master how to reach Platform 9 and 3/4. All in all, it was a day that everyone at Kings Cross dreaded.
Artemis Fowl was perfectly aware of this fact, and had planned accordingly. Instead of pushing his way through the throng, he simply arrived 10 minutes before the train would depart, when almost everyone would already be on the train, and then made his way through the relatively emptier station.
At least, that's what he said to convince himself that oversleeping was actually a wise, practical thing to do.
"Percy! I can walk to the platform by myself, you know!" he heard a familiar voice, and Artemis couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.
There, lingering near the entrance, stood Nico di Angelo in all his emo glory.
****A line break? Already?****
Nico was probably about to be arrested.
Not that he had done anything to get himself sent to wizard prison yet, but if Percy wouldn't stop annoying him , he was going to let something slip. Nico wasn't sure whether you could get sent to prison for telling non-wizards about the existence of wizards, even if that non-wizard was a demigod, but he didn't want to risk it.
"But Neeks!" Percy protested, "I want to meet your friends and see you off and everything! You're my little bro!"
Nico sighed, massaging his forehead, "Percy, first of all, we're not even related since gods don't have DNA, but even if they did, you'd only be my cousin."
Percy gave him a blinding grin, "You did it!"
"Did what?"
"You admitted that we're cousins! Finally!"
Nico felt his face heat up, "Wait, what? How- never mind! I'm already running late because someone wanted extra crumpets!"
Percy pouted at him, "We're in England! How was I supposed to leave without crumpets?"
Annabeth rolled her eyes, "Come on, Seaweed Brain. We've got a lot of tourist attractions to visit, besides, Nico's got a train to catch." she gave him a kind smile, "Have a good time at school Nico, and make sure to take care of yourself. No running headfirst into danger." she told him in a way that made her sound uncannily like Mrs. Jackson.
Nico decided that it was probably best not to mention that at Hogwarts, it's hard not to rush headfirst into danger.
"I will." he promised.
It was at times like this that Nico wished that Annabeth was a horrible person. He wanted to hate her for being the only one who Percy would ever love, he wanted to give himself a reason to justify his jealousy. But Annabeth was just too hard to hate. She'd always been nice to him, and had always acted like a protective older sister . How could he hate her after she'd been so nice to him? Why couldn't she make it easier to despise every fiber of her being?
"Nico!" he heard someone yell.
Nico would recognize that sophisticated definitely-not-Irish accent anywhere.
Artemis Fowl strode briskly towards the little trio, pushing a trolley similar to his own. Nico took a minute to wonder how he was pushing the cart so effortlessly, he knew first-hand that it was rather heavy, and Artemis probably couldn't even push an empty trolley under normal conditions.
"Artemis?" he asked, puzzled, "What are you doing here?"
"I have a train to catch," Artemis huffed, "Just like everyone else here."
"You know what I meant. Why are you here so... late?"
"Is it against the law to be a bit late?" Artemis grumbled.
"Mood." Percy mumbled under his breath, "Also, who's this guy again?"
Nico sighed, "He's one of my friends from school."
Percy beamed, "This guy is your friend? That's great!" he grabbed Artemis' hand and started shaking it vigorously, "Hi! I'm Percy." he told Artemis, "Nico's big bro."
"You're not my brother Percy!"
"You'll come around." he called to Nico, before turning back to Artemis, "What's your name?"
Artemis carefully removed his hand from Percy's overenthusiastic handshake, looking slightly frazzled.
"Artemis Fowl, at your service." he answered, eyeing Percy warily.
"Artemis? No offense , but isn't that a girl's name?"
Artemis huffed, "It's applicable for both genders!" he threw his hands up, "Why does everyone always assume that it's a girl's name?"
"Maybe because it is?" Nico chortled, earning himself a glare from Artemis.
Annabeth stepped closer to Artemis, glaring at him with narrowed eyes, "Artemis Fowl." she said, although, growled would probably be a more appropriate word.
Artemis raised an eyebrow, "Yes...?"
Nico had to give him credit for not running away screaming from the look Annabeth was giving him. Nico really didn't know why people at camp found him creepy even though they regularly received glares like that from Annabeth.
"Remember me?" she asked coldly.
"Am I supposed to?" Artemis responded, and if Nico hadn't spent an entire year sharing a dorm room with him, he wouldn't have noticed the genuine confusion simmering below Artemis' calm, controlled mask.
"Annabeth Chase, you beat me at chess a few years ago. Ringing any bells?"
"I beat a lot of people at chess, you need to be more specific."
"The Online Junior Chess League Finals, 4 years ago."
Artemis eyes widened with comprehension, "Ah... that Annabeth Chase, I remember you!"
"Wait," Percy hissed, "You know him?"
"Yeah," Nico echoed, "You know him?"
Annabeth kept glaring at Artemis, "We were finalists in the Online Junior Chess League four years ago. And he cheated. "
"Cheated?" Percy asked.
"He must have hacked into the chessboard thing and made it look like he had won!"(I have no idea how it works, so do me a favor and just go with it)
"It doesn't work that way!" Artemis protested.
"So you did cheat?"
"No!" Artemis said, exasperated, "While I am fully capable of hacking into the chess board, I didn't! I didn't need anything but pure skill to beat you." he declared haughtily, looking offended.
"Hah! So you could have messed with the game!"
"Yes, but I didn't! Let it go, Chase, it's been 4 years! Besides, I beat everyone at chess, you're not special."(Frozen reference not intentional)
"You-" Annabeth began, outraged.
"Woah, woah, woah." Percy said, raising his hands in a placating gesture, "I have a lot of questions. This make no sense. First of all, Annabeth, how did you even join an online chess competition? Computers don't work around-" Percy glanced at Artemis, "camp. Around camp."
Annabeth sighed, "Percy, I own a cellphone . That didn't malfunction. Besides, you know Chi-" cue another hesitant glance towards Artemis," Mr. Brunner, it was easy enough to convince him to help me set something up."
Percy put on his 'thinking face', "Fair enough, but why do you think he cheated?"
"Because she can't accept the fact that an 8 year old beat her at chess." he grumbled.
"That's not it!" Annabeth protested, although her flushed face said otherwise.
Artemis started pushing his trolley away, "As lovely as it has been meeting your friends, I really have to go." he said, pushing his trolley away as fast as he could without making it too obvious that he was fleeing the scene, "I've got a train to catch! I'll catch up with you later Nico."
Nico watched his friend disappear around the corner before glancing at a clock.
"I've really got to go!" he said anxiously, "See ya!" he yelled, trying to follow Artemis.
"Woah there!" Percy said, grabbing the back of his shirt before he could disappear through the barrier, "You can't leave without a proper goodbye!"
"Okay then, bye!"
Percy pulled him into a hug, "Have a good time at school Neeks, and promise to IM me whenever you can, okay?"
Nico nodded, still squirming uncomfortably(and firmly telling himself not to enjoy the hug), "Whatever Percy," he mumbled, his voice muffled, "Let me go,(Once, again, not intentional) I'm running late! Besides, isn't Mrs. O'Leary waiting outside to take you two sightseeing? You can't leave her alone for this long!"
Finally, Percy let him go, and sent him off with a wave, "See ya, little bro! Don't die!"
And Nico tried to ignore the stab of pain in his heart when Percy called him his little brother.
He just didn't know what sort of pain it was anymore.
*****Line Break*****
Today really wasn't Nico's day.
He was running really late, and to make things worse, Harry and Weasley were sprawled on the floor like jellyfish, right in front of the barrier.
"What are you doing?" he hissed, bending down, pretending to help them pick up their stuff, "You're blocking the barrier!"
"I'm fine, thanks for asking." Harry grumbled, straightening his glasses.
"I didn't ask."
"Your point?"
"Never mind," Nico said, "But why were you two on the floor? The Hogwarts Express will leave any minute!"
"I know!" Harry groaned, "But the barrier's broken!"
"Broken? What do you mean, broken?" Nico demanded.
"I mean, it's broken! It won't let us through!"
"Really?" Nico asked, more fascinated than panicked, "But it let everyone else in?"
"Yes!" Harry shrieked, drawing a few dirty looks from the people around them, "Yes!" he whispered, his voice still tinged with panic, "I don't know what to do! We're stuck! The train must have left by now!" he moaned in despair.
"Cheer up mate!" piped up Ron, who had apparently been there the whole time, "We can just go and wait for mum and dad by the car-" he eyes widened, "The car! We can use the car!"
"What?" Harry asked, confused.
"You want to drive all the way to Scotland?" Nico asked sceptically, "I'm not Artemis, but even I know that that's a horrible idea."
Ron rolled his eyes at him, "We're not going to drive , we're going to fly!" he exclaimed, flapping his arms like a bird.
Yep, Weasley was delusional. In his years as a demigod, he had seen some weird stuff. An ophiataurus called Bessie, skeletal armies, flying pigs, a dead guy keeping himself alive with the power of science(yeah right, more like the power of weird myths that make no sense), and an actual fortune teller. But flying cars? Okay, maybe he could believe that. But Weasley driving a flying car? Um... no.
Nico stood up, and started backing away slowly, "Okay... Good luck Harry, have fun with your, uh, flying cars." he said, blatantly ignoring Weasley and flapping his arms feebly, "I'm just gonna... go..."he pushed his trolley straight at the brick wall, using his own shadow to shadow travel himself onto the Hogwarts Express at the last second.
He barely heard Harry say, "He thinks we're delusional, doesn't he?"
A.N:
Hi there! Sorry about giving you all another short chapter, but I really needed to get that out of the way. Besides, I haven't had much time recently.
I feel like that chapter was horribly rushed, but you know those chapters that you really don't feel like writing but you have to get out of the way before dealing with the important stuff? Yeah, that was this chapter.
Sorry about how slow my updates have been recently, but school's been CRAZY. Since I'm going to *beep*(Cyber Safety!) next year, teachers have been piling on heaps of work. I also had to attend my cousin's engagement earlier this week so... yeah.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that my updates will speed up eventually, I just need to get through these next 2 months.
Okay, moving on...
I know that Percy and Nico weren't that close in canon, but I decided to take a few creative liberties and give them a better relationship. Also, if you were wondering what Percabeth were doing in London, they heard that Nico went to school in England and decided to come along to keep him company(and do some sightseeing in the process).
As for why I didn't get Nico, Artemis or Draco to join Harry and Ron in the car, well, Artemis would just tell them to owl McGonagall and get it over with(which would be no fun). Nico could shadow travel away(like he just did) so he wouldn't need the car, and I need to see a jealous Draco:)
Also, the reason Annabeth doesn't like Artemis is because her fatal flaw is hubris, or excessive pride, so she couldn't accept the fact that she had been beaten by a kid 3 or 4 years younger than her. Hence the whole, 'you only won because you cheated' thing
SO the actual reunion isn't until the next chapter!
See you then!
