As a last resort after being beaten Hoji used his powers to send Ushiwaka, his sister Rao and Susanoo to three different realms.

Ushiwaka landed in a mirrored version of his childhoods room, Kagami the Mirror Demon was waiting for him with a Mirror Deck.

While Susanoo landed on a dark crossroads where he was in a car crash as a child, a crash that cost his uncle and nephew their lives Shinigami a messenger of Death was waiting for Susanoo with his Skull Flame Deck.

And Rao landed in her childhood room, filled with creepy dolls, what was waiting for her in the main hall was a monstrosity Mojiretsu the Puppet Demon and it's Doll Part Deck.

4. The End of Fear - Part 2.

Ushiwaka stared in the eyes of the knight clad in heavy armor, his giant battle-axe casually rested on his shoulder his mirror shield resting on the ground. (5000 ATK)

This was Dark Master of the Mirrors, the boss monster of Ushiwaka's opponent the mirror demon Kagami who had only nine-hundred Life Points left, he had payed most of them summoning Dark Master of the Mirrors, it was the only card he had on the field but it was still his turn.

Ushiwaka however controlled Gearfried the Swordmaster equipped with Lightning Blade. (2600- 3400 ATK)

Ushiwaka had more than half of his starting Life Points left, yet he felt fear.

(Kagami: 900) - (Ushiwaka: 5300)

'You say you control your fears, that they don't bother you.' The mirror demon spoke, Ushiwaka said nothing he tried to remain calm.

'Your biggest fear is failing, failing to protect those you love.'

Ushiwaka drew back the demon got it right, Ushiwaka swallowed.

'The effect of Dark Master of the Mirror activates.' The fake Ushiwaka snickered.

'I can copy the effect of one monster on the field, which means Gearfried the Swordmaster, when Dark Master of the Mirror gets equipped by an Equip Spell I can destroy one monster my opponent controls.'

The fake Ushiwaka laughed slowly he started to change into his demon form, the hulking mass of flesh with a blank face.

'Soon I will be you, I will seek out your friends and family, I will enjoy their screams when I tear them apart!' He ended with a maniacally laughter.

'I won't allow you.' Ushiwaka whispered his voice shaking.

'What will you do you frightened little man?'

The demon looked at the Dark Master of the Mirrors, he then changed back into Ushiwaka.

'I equip Mirrored Return to my monster, for starters I won't take any damage from battles involving the equipped monster, then when it is destroyed and in the Graveyard I can special summon it during the next turn ignoring all summon conditions and it's original attack becomes that of what it had when it got destroyed.'

The Dark Master of the Mirrors let out a battle cry as the armor got a reflective layer on it.

'Now I destroy your Gearfried the Swordmaster.'

Ushiwaka gasped as his warrior got cut in half by the giant axe, then the Dark Master of the Mirror brought his weapon up with incredible force Ushiwaka caught the axe with his body he slammed on the ground a few feet away.

(Kagami: 900) - (Ushiwaka: 5300- 300)

Ushiwaka slowly crawled up on his arms and legs, he was laughing.

'What's so funny?' The demon hissed: 'You finally lost it?'

Ushiwaka stood up.

'You've made a mistake.' Ushiwaka stated laughing.

'You really did lose it.' Kagami said.

Ushiwaka then stopped laughing.

'Remember when you said I was afraid that I would fail to protect my friends? That is true.'

Ushiwaka drew his card.

'When your attack just hit me I realized it.'

Ushiwaka showed a card from his hand, it was Monster Reborn, in a flash of light Gearfried the Iron Knight appeared. (1800 ATK)

Ushiwaka then played another card, Command Knight appeared next to Gearfried. (1200- 1600 ATK)

'Bringing me here was your mistake Kagami.' Ushiwaka continued as he showed another card from his hand: Polymerization.

'Defenders of the realm, form as one that the dreams of freedom might become reality! Fusion summon, come forth Gilti-Gearfried the Magical Steel Knight!'

An imposing figure appeared before Ushiwaka, a tall man with long, black hair sticking through a helmet made of pure steel, three horns decorated the helmet one on the front two on the sides, he wore purple robes with steel gauntlets and pauldrons over it, a steel belt protected his waist, several red gems were etched into the armor, in his right hand he held a large, curved blade and a shield over his wrist, the knight swung the sword around a couple of times before grabbing it with two hands and pointing it at Dark Master of the Mirrors. (2700 ATK)

'So you pulled out a new monster, what good will it do?' Kagami said with a snicker: 'You said it was a mistake bringing you here.'

Ushiwaka closed his eyes he chuckled.

'It was Kagami, this is your world not mine, in this world there is nothing or nobody I care about, in order to hurt those I love you must beat me.' He opened his eyes again the fear was gone.

Kagami took a step back his transformation started to falter slowly he changed back into his hideous form.

'You still have no hope of beating me!' The demon howled.

'You will never touch those I care for Kagami, for myself I fear no failure because I know I can beat you!' Ushiwaka's eyes showed determination.

'Gilti-Gearfried attack Dark Master of the Mirrors!'

Ushiwaka's warrior held his sword in front of him, then he charged in his sword got locked in by the battle axe of the Dark Master.

'The effect of Gilti-Gearfried, when in battle I can banish one Spell card then the attack of Gilti-Gearfried rises by half the defense points of the monster it battles.'

The sword of Gilti-Gearfried started to glow, slowly the warrior pushed back to giant axe when the sword was free the warrior made an upwards strike cleaving the Dark Master in half.

Kagami laughed as his monster dissolved into mist.

'Forgot my Equip Spell? I take no damage from that battle and next turn Dark Master returns.'

'If there was a next turn.' Ushiwaka bluntly said.

'When Gilti-Gearfried was summoned when both materials were on the field it can attack a second time.'

Before Kagami could say anything Gilti-Gearfried slashed his sword across the chest of the mirror demon.

(Kagami: 900- 0) - (Ushiwaka: 300)

Kagami let out a screech as his body slowly stiffened a reflective layer formed on his body, Gilti-Gearfried dissolved as Ushiwaka deactivated his Duel Disk, he walked up to Kagami he saw his reflection in the body of the hideous creature.

'Like you always wanted to be, my reflection.' Then he gave the creature a powerful kick, the glass cracked and then scattered.

The crossroads.

'So you claim you do no longer fear me?' The floating skeletal demon that was Shinigami hissed.

Susanoo just dealt a crushing blow against his opponent shaving almost off half his opponent's Life Points, while Susanoo had less than half his Life Points left as a retaliation the Shinigami summoned his strongest monster, the Centaur-like Supersonic Skull Flame. (2600 ATK)

This was currently the only card he had on the field but it was his turn.

Susanoo however controlled his Synchro Monster: Superheavy Samurai Warlord Susanowo in defense mode. (3800 DEF)

He had Superheavy Samurai Soulhorns equipped to Susanowo which allowed the monster to attack twice and Susanowo could attack while in defense mode.

(Susanoo: 3400) - (Shinigami: 4200)

'I shall equip Moon Mirror Shield to my Supersonic Skull Flame.'

A Spell card materialized before the Shinigami.

'Whenever Supersonic Skull Flame battles it's attack points and defense points become equal to the attack or defense of my opponent's monster whichever is higher plus hundred points extra.'

Susanoo grinned: 'What you wanna do? Chip my life away one-hundred points at a time? You'd be long gone before that happens.'

The eyes of the Shinigami glowed red as the Reaper got enraged by Susanoo's cocky remark.

'No this is just to make sure you won't flood the field with monsters, Supersonic Skull Flame attack Susanowo!'

The centaur charged in it galloped over the mechanical samurai. (2600- 3900 ATK)

'This is how I plan to kill you, the effect of Supersonic Skull Flame, once per turn I can deal four-hundred damage to my opponent for each Burning Skull Head in my Graveyard.'

Three burning skulls appeared circling around Supersonic Skull Flame one by one the skulls crashed into Susanoo.

Susanoo fell to his knees as a burning feeling ripped through his body.

(Susanoo: 3400- 2400) - (Shinigami: 4200)

Slowly Susanoo stood up, the burning feeling disappeared.

'I still have a chance.' He growled he drew his card.

'I normal summon Superheavy Samurai Wagon.'

Before Susanoo appeared a small, green robot standing on two wheels, it dragged a huge, wooden kart filled with some of the Superheavy Samurai Soul monsters. (1200 ATK)

'When Wagon is summoned I can change it to defense.' Susanoo said, the robot lowered the kart but remained aware. (1800 DEF)

'Now since it is in defense mode and I have no Spell or Trap cards in my Graveyard I can change it to attack mode.' The robot buzzed back to life. (1200 ATK)

'By doing this I can now add a Superheavy Samurai Soul card from my Deck to my hand.'

The Soulhorns that laid on the kart disappeared and Susanoo showed that that was the card he added to his hand.

'I shall end my turn there.'

The reaper drew a card.

'First Supersonic Skull Flame attacks Wagon, Wagon's defense points are higher.'

Supersonic Skull Flame became weaker. (2600- 1900 ATK)

The skeletal creature created a ball of flames in his claws the small robot and it's cart got obliterated a few seconds later.

(Susanoo: 2400- 1700) - (Shinigami: 4200)

'And now the effect of Supersonic Skull Flame.' The Shinigami cackled, the three flaming skulls homed in on Ushiwaka again, he got shoved back a bit, his legs gave way.

(Susanoo: 1700- 500) - (Shinigami: 4200)

'I end my turn.'

Susanoo slowly crawled back up.

'So this gives me one turn to defeat you.' Slowly he drew his card.

'If my Graveyard is empty of Spell and Trap cards I can special summon Superheavy Samurai Transporter.' Susanoo explained, before him appeared another robot made out of purple steel with a stainless steel skeleton visible in the arms and legs, it had no feet but wheels instead. (1200 ATK)

'Since my Graveyard has no Spell or Trap cards I can tribute Transporter so I can special summon up to two monsters from my hand to my opponent's side of the field in defense position, then I draw a card for each monster summoned that way.'

The Shinigami said nothing, he curiously watched his field, two Superheavy Samurai Flutist appeared before him, then Superheavy Samurai Transporter disappeared. (1000 DEF x2)

'Now I normal summon another Superheavy Samurai Wagon.' Susanoo continued, the small green robot holding the big cart appeared once again. (1200 ATK)

'I use it's effect to change it to defense mode.' Susanoo stated, the green robot rested the cart. (1800 DEF)

'Next I equip Wagon with Superheavy Samurai Soulhorns and Superheavy Samurai Soulpiercer.'

First the samurai helmet with the blue horns appeared over the head of the green robot then a blue crossbow got mounted on it's right wrist.

'Soulhorns allows my monster to attack twice and Soulpiercer deals piercing damage, also Wagon can attack from defense position using it's defense points for damage.'

The Shinigami started to laugh: 'Even with this you can't win.'

'Let's see about that, Wagon attacks one of the Flutist!' Susanoo commanded.

'Now since I have no Spell and Trap cards in my Graveyard I discard Superheavy Samurai Soulbuster Gauntlet to double the defense points of Wagon until my end phase.'

Sparks appeared around the small robot it grew to twice it's size. (1800- 3600 DEF)

With ease it picked up the cart and smacked the first Flutist across the field, then it slammed the cart down on the second one, after that it aimed the crossbow at the Shinigami and plunged two arrows in it's chest.

(Susanoo: 500) - (Shinigami: 4200- 0)

The Shinigami dropped down on the ground, it tried to pick up it's scythe but Susanoo stepped on it, the reaper looked up to it's opponent it's arms slowly started to dissolve into dust.

'Messenger of Death, tell your master I'm not ready to meet him.'

With a loud screech the reaper disappeared into dust leaving only the scythe.

Rao's nightmare.

Rao stood against the puppet that represented her fear of her abusive parents, though Rao felt fear she knew she had to face this ordeal.

Her opponent the demon Mojiretsu controlled Doll Chimera, a hideous, possessed mannequin that gained four-hundred attack points for each Doll Part in the Graveyard, currently Doll Parts: Red, Blue, Gold and Pink were in the Graveyard. (1600 ATK)

The other monster the demon controlled was Alice the Wandering Doll, a child-sized doll with long blond hair wearing an old-fashioned blue and white dress. (1000 DEF)

For the rest Mojiretsu controlled the Field Spell: Cursed Dollhouse which at this point served no purpose and a Call of the Haunted Trap card that was equipped to no monsters.

Rini on the other hand only controlled Chocolate Magician Girl (1600 ATK) and Dark Magician Girl. (2000 ATK)

It was Rao's turn.

(Mojiretsu: 6500) - (Rao: 7500)

'I activate my Spell card: Dark Burning Attack.' Rao stated Dark Magician Girl leaped in the air she pointed her staff down at the field.

'When I control Dark Magician Girl I destroy all monsters my opponent controls.'

Black flames spouted from the staff first Alice melted down, the stench of melting plastic filled the air, black mist poured from Doll Chimera as it slowly melted.

'You'd think it would go this easily thing?' Her father said.

'When Doll Chimera is destroyed I can send two Doll Parts to my Graveyard to special summon Doll Chimera.' The mother explained.

As the demon discarded the card the melted pieces of Doll Chimera started to reform, this time a second torso appeared on her back with a set of extra legs supporting the now terrifying monstrosity. (2400 ATK)

'In that case I activate Dark Magic Veil.' Rao continued she quickly played the Spell card.

'I pay thousand Life Points in order to special summon Dark Magician!'

With an explosion of smoke the purple-wearing master wizard appeared next to his student. (2500 ATK)

(Mojiretsu: 6500) - (Rao: 7500- 6500)

'Dark Magician attack Doll Chimera! Dark Magic Attack!'

Dark Magician twirled his staff around before blasting Doll Chimera into smithereens.

(Mojiretsu: 6500- 6400) - (Rao: 6500)

'You never learn do you, what is expected from garbage! Be reborn Doll Chimera!' The father shouted, once more the monstrosity reassembled this time it had two extra arms and an extra head on the second torso, the arms and head were facing backwards. (3200 ATK)

'I change Dark Magician Girl and Chocolate Magician Girl to defense mode and end my turn.' Rao stated, both Magician Girls knelt down and used their staff to shield themselves. (Chocolate Magician Girl: 1000 DEF, Dark Magician Girl: 1700 DEF)

Mojiretsu drew it's card.

'Shielding yourself behind your monsters? What a cowardice thing to do, even now you don't dare to face us.' The father said in a mocking tone.

'Shields don't matter before Dark Hole!' The mother added as the demon played the Spell card a giant hole opened up in the ceiling one-by-one every monster was sucked in.

'Of course Doll Chimera is reborn!' The father added again the creature resurfaced this time with another torso attached to the torso on the back, the arms of the third torso supported it. (4000 ATK)

'Direct attack!' The mother yelled, Rao braced herself the Doll Chimera leaped on top of her, the pain of the plastic arms clawing at her went through her entire body.

(Mojiretsu: 6400) - (Rao: 6500- 2500)

Rao slowly stood up, she felt the eyes of the demon and the gross flesh mask staring at her as were all the dolls in the room, quietly she drew her card.

'I summon Chocolate Magician Girl again.' She stated as she played her second copy of the card, the normally cheerful Spellcaster leaped on the field. (1600 ATK)

'Then I set a card and end my turn.' Rao concluded as the face-down card materialized behind Chocolate Magician Girl.

The demon let out a gurgling laugh as it drew a card.

'Doll Chimera attack Chocolate Magician Girl!' The mother shouted.

'I activate the effect of Chocolate Magician Girl, I special summon Dark Magician from my Graveyard!'

An explosion followed and the master Spellcaster once again stood on the field. (2500 ATK)

'Now the attack of Doll Chimera is turned towards Dark Magician halving it's attack points!'

The hideous creature turned to the Spellcaster. (4000- 2000 ATK)

One blast from Dark Magician's staff made short work of the Doll Chimera once again.

(Mojiretsu: 6400- 5900) - (Rao: 2500)

'Be reborn Doll Chimera!' The father shouted and once more the monster rose again, this time with an extra head that faced the second head and a pair of legs further supporting the monstrosity. (4800 ATK)

'Doll Chimera kill that thing! Attack Dark Magician!' The mother roared.

'I activate Black Illusion!' Rao shouted as her Trap card opened up.

'For this turn Dark Magician cannot be destroyed.' Rao stated.

'But you do take damage.' The mother replied, Rao screamed as a searing pain shot through her body.

(Mojiretsu: 5900) - (Rao: 2500- 200)

'Whatever will you do thing?' The father said in a mocking tone.

'This.' Rao replied as Thousand Knives appeared on the field, countless knives appeared around Dark Magician, the Spellcaster pointed at the Doll Chimera the knives tore the beast to shreds.

'There are no more Doll Parts in your Deck, so this time it stays down.' Rao said with a smug tone.

'I change my Monsters to defense mode and end my turn.'

Both Dark Magician and Chocolate Magician Girl knelt down. (Dark Magician: 2100 DEF, Chocolate Magician Girl: 1000 DEF)

'Damn you heap of trash! Defying your parents like this!' The mother yelled.

'My parents would have been here for me, supporting me when I needed it.'

The demon drew back a bit by this defiance.

'My parents are Ushiwaka's parents, Ushiwaka is my brother you two are a distant nightmare.'

The demon drew a card.

'You'll pay for this.' The father hissed: 'I activate Door to Mirrorland, now that Alice the Wandering Doll is in my Graveyard I special summon Eshila the Lovely Bisque Doll from my Deck!'

A new child-sized doll appeared she had brown hair, wore an old-fashioned, pink dress covered in red ribbons a hat with a wide brim sat on top of her head.

'Eshila gains thousand attack points for each set of Doll Parts in my Graveyard.' The mother explained, a purple mist started to swirl around the doll. (1000- 4000 ATK)

'Attack Dark Magician!' The cute doll pointed her finger at the Spellcaster an arrow of black mist shot through the man's heart, with a groan the Spellcaster fell down.

Rao drew her card.

'I activate Enemy Controller!' She stated a gigantic controller appeared in mid-air a wire shot from the controller into Eshila.

'I Tribute Chocolate Magician Girl.' The Spellcaster nodded before she disappeared.

'Left, right, A, B.' Rao shouted slowly Eshila walked over to her side. (4000- 1000 ATK)

'I'm no longer afraid of dolls demon.' Rao said, Mojiretsu drew back even further.

'I was afraid of you two as a child, that fear manifested in a fear for dolls, I was still a child and until today I still saw myself as a child.'

A blurry figure of a child appeared behind Rao.

'I realized now that I'm older and I'm with a real family, you two can't hurt me anymore, I have come to terms with that child in my soul.'

The blurry soul became clear, it was the younger Rao the older Rao took the hand of the child Rao.

The demon cursed and hissed.

'Now I activate Dark Magic Curtain!' The Spell card flashed before her, on the field appeared. 'I pay half my Life Points and special summon Dark Magician from my Deck!' A demonic, skeletal creature appeared on the field wearing blue robes, when the robes opened the Spellcaster leaped forward. (2500 ATK)

(Mojiretsu: 5900) - (Rao: 200- 100)

'Now I activate Monster Reborn!' She continued as a second Dark Magician leaped onto the field. (2500 ATK)

'Dark Magicians Double Dark Burning Attack!' Both the older and the younger Rao shouted.

The two Spellcasters crossed their staffs black flames licked at the Mojiretsu.

(Mojiretsu: 5900- 900) - (Rao: 100)

'You cannot hurt me any longer demon.' Rao hissed, the soul of her childhood started to glow, Mojiretsu started to change the flesh mask crumbled, the rest of the demon became plastic until only a broken doll remained Rao looked at it, the doll looked like her.

'So you resemble my broken childhood then, time to deal with that once and for all.'

Slowly the child soul of Rao merged with her body, at that point the demonic doll sprung to life, it slowly started to crawl towards her.

'Elisha!' Rao shouted a blinding light filled the room, the screams of the demon echoed through.

(Mojiretsu: 900- 0) - (Rao: 100)

As the light faded the only thing that remained in the room was a broken doll, it no longer resembled Rao in any way.

Before Rao could question how she could escape this hellish room a portal opened, the same thing happened in Ushiwaka's and Susanoo's realm.

As Rao stepped through it everything went white, slowly the bright light faded and she found herself back in the lab, Ushiwaka and Susanoo reappeared at the same time.

'So you managed to escape.' A cold voice said.

All three turned around to where Hoji was standing, the man had changed, his gray skin had taken a more humane color, his hair which was still white was now tied into a tail behind his back, the horns on his head were gone, the glowing red eye was now green again, the only thing that hadn't changed was his skeletal arm, it was now wrapped in bandages, the professor had found some black robes to replace his torn clothes.

Behind the professor stood a machine connected to a platform a weird portal had opened up above the platform, black and purple mist poured through it.

'Mojiretsu, Shinigami and Kagami the demons that represented your fears all failed.' The man stated he looked at his machine.

'You're just in time to witness the rebirth of the greatest beast Japan has ever seen.' Hoji stated,

'Not if we can help it.' Susanoo growled.

'This time I'll make sure you won't stand back up.' Ushiwaka added.

Suddenly the ground started to tremble like an earthquake just hit, the wind suddenly started to rise, lightning struck one after the other as rain started to fall like crazy.

Next time:

With the three demons vanquished Hoji is the only one left standing, just as Ushiwaka wanted to finish off the professor the weather became crazy.

With the end of time approaching the three heroes only have a little time to stop whatever Hoji is planning. ''Shadow of the Serpent'' coming next.

Equip Spell card

Equip only to a ''Mirror'' Monster you control that was not created by the effect of a card. If the equipped Monster would be destroyed by battle you take no damage from that battle. During your next Standby Phase if this card is still in the Graveyard Special Summon the Monster this card was equipped to from the Graveyard ignoring all summon conditions, the Special Summoned Monster's Original ATK becomes the ATK it had when it was destroyed while this card was equipped to it, then equip this card from the Graveyard to that Monster. If this card leaves the Field the equipped Monster is destroyed.
