Sokka was in Kiki's mother's room and wanted Kiki to tell her what happened to her mother and father.
"Kiki, I want to know what happened to your parents." Sokka asked.
"It's none of your concern!" Kiki screamed in her high pitched child voice.
"Actually, it is." Sokka said. "It may help us gather information about what Milia wants."
"Fine." Kiki sighed. "It all started long ago."

Kiki's parents, Kei and Kun, two farmers who worked on a farm that the family owned, came back into the house.
"Kiki, we are home!" The couple said. Hiroto hugged Kei, happy to see her.
"Kiki." Kun mentioned. "I got you this new gift from the farm." Kun handed Kiki an axe. "Read the inscription on the handle."
"Never give up without a fight." Kiki read. "Oh, Kun, I will remember this." She said in her soft high pitched voice.
"I am sure you will." Kun said. "We will cook some dinner, you have got a big day ahead of you, it's your first day of school."
"Oh wonderful!" Kiki said. "Sadness and Sorrow" was playing in the background as Kiki jumped in Kun's lap and hugged him. Hiroto and Kei did a group hug with Kiki.
"We wish the best for you on your first day of school." Kei said.
At dinnertime, Hiroto cooked some hibachi chicken on the Japanese-style stove and served with fresh vegetables.
"Thanks for dinner!" Kiki said to Hiroto.
"Don't mention it!" Hiroto said. "You need your nutrition before the big day."
"I am sure I do." Kiki said.
The next morning, Kiki was getting ready for school, getting her things ready.
"Ok, I am going to the bus!" Kiki said.
"Good bye sweetie!" Kei said.
"Don't cause any trouble, ok!" Hiroto suggested.
"Have fun!" Kun suggested. Kiki ran to the bus but was lost on her way to the bus stop, so she walked into an alley and saw a gang of kids in dark colored clothes with red bandanas.
"Hey you." The kid in the dark brown shirt with the red bandana said. "You're in our turf."
"Go away!" Kiki said.
"This is our turf." The kid in the dark olive green shirt with the red bandanna said. "We don't go away. He picked up Kiki and threw her in a dumpster.
"Let me out of here!" Kiki screamed, beating on the dumpster. A garbage truck was coming to pick up the dumpster. It stopped and picked up the dumpster, loading all its contents and Kiki into the truck, headed for a landfill.
"AAAAHHH!" Kiki screamed. The truck drove to the south central region and dropped Kiki off at the landfill, emptying its contents and sending Kiki sliding down a mound of garbage and landed in a cardboard box. She found a seagull flying towards her. Luckily for her, a broken pencil and paper was conveniently located at the landfill, so she wrote a note with the broken pencil and used some string to wrap it and gave it to the seagull.
"Send this to my dad, letting him know that I am trapped in this landfill." The seagull flew away with the note.
Back at Kiki's home at 15:00, the seagull was flying with the note.
"That's weird, Kiki should be back at home by now." Kun said. The seagull flew with the note. Kun read the note to see where Kiki was.
Dear Kun and Kei,
I was lost on the way to school and some bullies threw me into the dumpster after I went into the wrong part of town. I am now at the landfill in the south central region of the island, so if you are reading this, I am at the landfill.
Sincerely,
Kiki
P.S: I had a burger for lunch that someone threw out, and I don't understand why someone would throw away a perfectly good burger.
"Holy shit, Kiki is in the landfill!" Kun said. "Everyone in the van, we got to rescue Kiki." Kun, Kei and Hiroto hopped in the family's yellow and white Volkswagen camper-like vehicle. They drove down to the landfill and got to the gates.
"Halt!" The garbage worker said. "No unauthorized persons beyond this point! Violators will be prosecuted."
"Please sir, our daughter is there!" Kei screamed.
"I once heard a girl screaming when one of our trucks was on its route, so I can look for her if you want." The garbage worker said.
"Sure please, anything to get our daughter home." Kei panicked, feeling psychotic and anxious to get her daughter back home with her.
"Ok, I will look for her." The garbage worker went into the dump and heard screaming from a box.
"HEELP!" Kiki screamed. "SAVE ME!" The garbage worker ran to the box, following the sound of Kiki's voice. He took off the box and revealed Kiki.
"Go away!" Kiki pouted.
"It's ok, I am taking you to your parents." The garbage worker said. "I am getting you home."
"You would do that for me?" Kiki asked, as small tears were rolling down her eyes.
"Sure!" Kiki went with the garbage worker back to the gate, and reunited with her parents.
"Kiki, you're alive!" Kiki was about to hug Kei, but Kei felt the stench of Kiki being in a landfill.
"We are getting you a bath when we get home." Kei sighed. "The longest, coldest bath in the world." Kei, Kun, Hiroto and Kiki went back home in the camper, so Kiki could get her bath.
Back at home, while Kiki was taking a bath, the radio was on.
"Hello, this is Obsidian News." The radio announcer said. "It is apparent that the owner of a shipping company known as Kusanagi Enterprises has taken over the Land of Obsidian and is now its supreme leader. Sage of Six Paths please save our beloved nation of Obsidian under its glorious leader Milia Kusanagi." The click of a weapon was heard in the studio, held by one of Milia's guards who was pointing it at the announcer.
"That's what I wanted you to say." The guard said. "Don't denounce the Supreme Leader or I will shoot." Several guards in white shirts, white pants and black armored vests were marching around the house, making sure that Kun and Kei were obeying the laws. Hiroto was hiding in the closet, and Kiki was hiding under the bathwater. The guards knocked on the door, as Kun answered it.
"Who are you?" Kun asked.
"We are private bodyguards who work for Milia Kusanagi." The guard said. "While we are here, we need to collect taxes."
"The tax is 1,000 Ryo." The female guard said.
"But we don't have that kind of money." Kun said. "And how dare you barge in on our private home! I don't go to where you live and barge in on your home?" The female guard attached duct tape to Kun's mouth.
"That's enough out of you!" The female guard snapped. "We are taking your whole family and executing them!" The female guard blew her whistle. "Swarm, Swarm!" The white and black clad guards swarmed the house, but all they took was Kei. They took Kei and Kun to the execution grounds in the island's northeastern region.
Hiroto literally came out of the closet, and Kiki came out from her bath and put some clothes on. Hiroto turned on the TV to see the news. A golden shield with a K inscribed in it over a wreath of laurel leaves appeared on the TV as "Yogensha" played in the background.
"Good Evening." The female reporter in the yellow blazer said. "I am Kairi Tanaka, reporting coverage of the execution of two traitors who defied the order of Milia Kusanagi." She picked up her papers in her head. "Let's see the live feed from the execution."
The feed cut to the execution, showing Kei and Kun tied to wooden poles, while Milia stood tall in her tower, wearing her white coat and dress. She began to speak.
"Listen up!" Milia spoke. "These people have defied the Kusanagi Corporation and are being put to death!" Milia announced.
"Let this be an example of what happens to those in the future that dare to defy the Kusanagi Corporation and disobey our laws." Kaneda, a pink haired swords woman, raised her big sword that looked like a saw blade.
"Ready on the signal!" Milia shouted. Milia's elite bodyguards in yellow garb with black vests shot their guns in the air, giving the signal. Kaneda used her big saw sword to chop Kei and Kun in half, leaving their entire lower bodies visible.
"Mother….Father….NOOO!" Kiki cried, screaming at the TV, grabbing its edges.
"Careful, you're going to break the TV." Hiroto advised.
"Shut up!" Kiki screamed. "My parents and your siblings died and all you care about is a damn TV?" Hiroto switched off the TV to talk to Kiki.
"I care about my brother and sister in law, but as you grow, you need to know that death is a part of life we have to deal with." Hiroto told Kiki. A piano rendition of "Sadness and Sorrow" played in the background.
"Listen here." Hiroto said. "My daddy died a long time ago. He was a good man, but was ambushed by pirates, and they killed him because he couldn't pay them for what he was going to buy back from them that they stole."
"What was it?" Kiki asked.
"It was his Lucky Cat statue." Hiroto explained. "The cat was said to bring good luck to him as he was painting, reminding him that every work he painted would become a masterpiece."
"Did he get it back?" Kiki asked.
"No, he never did." Hiroto said. "To make a long story short, they got away with the Lucky Cat and killed him." Hiroto began to cry. "I was just a young teen when that happened!" Hiroto sniffed.
"I see you learned to accept he was gone for good." Kiki said. "There was nothing you could do to bring him back."
"No, there wasn't." Hiroto told Kiki. "Once someone is gone, they are gone. There is nothing you can do to bring them back, because they are forever lost. All you got to do is keep on living and carry their spirit on your back." Kiki began to smile.
"Right, and I have got to carry my parents' spirit on my back as well." Kiki said. "I have got quite a load to carry and big shoes to fill." Kiki hugged Hiroto and Hiroto hugged her back.
Present Day
"That's how it happened." Kiki said.
"Your story touched mine." Sokka told Kiki. "My sister and I lost our mother to the Fire Nation back where we came from, and there was nothing we could do to bring her back, so we accepted and moved on."
"That's a noble thing to do." Kiki told Sokka. She handed Sokka her axe. Sokka read the inscription.
"Never give up without a fight." Sokka said. "Noble words to live by." Sokka was alerted about the mission.
"Come now, I need to formulate a plan to save these prisoners!" Sokka led Kiki to her father's bedroom to formulate a plan.
