Hey guys. What's up? I don't really have much to say here, so thanks for the reviews, all rights to Mr. Rick Riordan, and hope you enjoy the story. :)
Frank
Frank was having a rotten day before the earthborn even showed up. The first thing that happened seemed kind of insignificant compared to everything else that happened in the day, but it made him angry, so it makes the list. He had woken up one minute before the alarm had gone off. He didn't know why it made him so angry considering one minute was no time at all, but it did. He had spent his morning grumpy.
The next thing happened around mid day which in retrospect should be number one on the "Frank's Crappy Day" list. He had been sitting with Hazel, complaining about the whole alarm thing when this guy who looked like an ugly fairy came onto the deck. Automatically, he pulled out his bow, and everyone else pulled out their respected weapons. it wasn't even a question anymore. Some weird guy shows up, get ready for a fight.
"Ooo who should I pick?" Even his voice sounded gross. Next to him, Hazel wrinkled her nose in disgust. He paced around, but he wasn't fighting, so neither were they. They were all just kind of standing there.
"The Chase girl of course." he was muttering under his breath. Annabeth cocked an eyebrow. "Hmm what about that Grace boy. Not the first choice no no no, but good enough." He eyes Jason who had taken a step back.
"Whoa what do you mean good enough?" Jason sounded offended and in any other circumstance, Frank would have laughed, but just then, the ugly fairy guy reached out and plucked Jason from the deck. Jason struggled, but apparently the fairy's grip was iron clad, because he made no progress. Piper yelled out and came forward with her sword, but he just swatted her aside, now walking towards Annabeth.
Frank drew his bow, but then relaxed it. He didn't want to hit Jason. He pushed Annabeth behind him. It was clear that the fairy wanted her, and he wasn't going to let him get her. Unfortunately, he didn't have much of a choice, because he was swatted aside as quickly as Piper was. When he stood up, Annabeth was in his other hand, and he was flying away with both of them.
He felt his body reforming, being rearranged. His arms shortened and sprouted feathers. His eye sight became sharper and he took off as a hawk. He could hear everyone else on the Argo II scrambling down the rope ladder. He took after them and the fairy stopped so abruptly midair that Frank almost ran into him.
"Please go away." He said in his gravely voice. Annabeth was kicking him as hard as she could with her arms trapped. Jason was attempting to fly, but all he managed to do was raise the fairies hand a couple feet higher. Frank tried to dive in to his eyes, but a foot came out of nowhere. The contact of the foot to the side of his head was blinding. he felt himself falling.
"Frank!" Annabeth's voice screamed from above, but he was disoriented. When his eyes finally cleared, he was ten feet above the ground. He yelped and turned up, tumbling only gently. He turned back into a human and groaned, blinking away the dancing spots in his eyes. He looked up, and the fairy was gone. Cursing, he decided to try to head back to the ship. Maybe the others were there and they could think of a plan. He was about to turn back into a hawk when he heard a voice.
"Stop right there." A herd of earthborn were standing there, led by a cyclops who had his arrow a foot from Frank's face. Frank stiffened and cursed his luck. Of all places to tumble out of the sky it had to be here. Slowly, he raised his hands, making it a point to have them away from his bow. Today was just so chaotic he thought. He would gladly take the alarm now.
"You are dead." The cyclops grinned. Cyclops's always creeped Frank out, which made him feel guilty, because he had met Percy's brother and he wasn't mean. But, he thought Tyson would be on his side about this particular cyclops. Especially since he just prematurely declared Frank dead. Frank's body stiffened as he prepared his arms to reach back and draw his bow quickly. He figured if he could fire the arrow at the cyclops quickly enough, the earthborn wouldn't be too difficult to take out. He was about to do it when a car came out of nowhere.
It was a police car and it went smashing into the cyclops, exploding him to dust. Sitting in the front seat was a teenager. He was slightly hunched over in a painfully crooked kind of way. He was covered in bloodstains and bandages, one in particular wrapping around his head like a headband. His dark long hair fell over the white bandage and made his head look taller than it actually was. His arms were slightly pink with sunburns, and had dark red blotches littering up and down. But on the person's face was the biggest grin anyone could imagine.
"Get in." Said Percy Jackson. Frank couldn't move. He knew he probably looked like the biggest idiot in the world, standing with his bow hanging uselessly at his side, mouth wide open, monsters surrounding him, but Frank was shocked beyond belief. It couldn't be Percy, because Percy was dead. Percy died in Tartarus weeks ago, but here he was, sitting in the drivers seat of a police car, smiling at him. Frank felt overwhelmed with emotion. Percy was here. He was alive.
"Well come on then." Percy nodded and Frank scrambled forward. He sat down and pulled the door shut. Percy started driving, running over several more earthborn in the process. He turned the car down a different road. Frank couldn't stop looking at him. Tears flooded his eyes. Weeks of unimaginable grief weighing down him and everyone else on the ship was starting to lift. Because Percy was actually here. Unable to contain himself any longer, Frank threw his arms around him.
"Whoa, hey I think there's a law against hugging and driving." Percy glanced at him though, still trying to keep an eye on the road. "I am really happy to see you though." A small tearful smile.
"I- wh- how?" Frank felt the relief make him almost light headed. Words didn't come out fast enough to express how many question he had.
"Oh super long story. I wont bore you with the details now." Percy shifted uncomfortably in his chair. "Basically some weird guy stole my necklace, I got blown up, got sick of the ocean for a while which is rare for me, fought a titan, stole this car, and now I'm here." He laughed as if he couldn't believe his own story. He swerved the car because some earthborn were blocking his path.
"Enough about me, how's Annabeth?" He looked anxious as if expecting Frank to say she had died or something. Frank felt guilt eating at him as he remembered she was literally just kidnapped, but he didn't say that.
"Yeah she's uh... great. But seriously, Percy, how are you alive? Are you okay?" He felt tears slide down his face. Percy was actually here. That one sentence seemed unbelievable. All those weeks Frank tried to get over his death, tried to move on, and here he was, telling him that he didn't have to.
"Yeah probably broke my ribs again, but you know I've been around that block before. And about Anna- OH CRAP!" Percy turned the steering wheel hard trying to avoid the earthborn who were crowding the path, but there was nothing he could do. He saw the wall right ahead of them and transformed. His back hardened, his head shrunk and he was a turtle, shell bouncing off the windshield.
He transformed back and found himself wedged between the floor and the seat. He wiggled himself out and found Percy with his eyes. He was groaning. His head had hit the dashboard and was now covered in blood. Glass was everywhere.
"Percy are you okay?" Frank didn't sit and instead hovered over the seat to prevent himself from sitting on a bunch of glass. Percy was clutching his head which was already wrapped in bandages. New blood was leaking through all over the front of the car. Frank cussed.
"You're going to by fine Percy, I promise. I'll be right back, okay? I'll be right back." Percy looked at him, eyes glazed over with pain. Frank climbed out of the car and drew his bow.
"Get out of here." He said as forcefully as he could. One earthborn blinked and started forward, pulling out a weapon. Frank started firing them, but all the sudden the air crackled with energy. Jason came flying down, lightening coming out if his hands, eyes body, everywhere. He looked like Zeus himself. He tore through the earthborn and Frank fired his arrows. They army was reduced to none in less then a minute.
"You good Frank?" Jason's lightening was disappearing and he was starting to look like a normal person again. Frank nodded.
"Yeah are you? Is Annabeth?"
"Yeah. She's fine. Back on the ship. Everyone else is too. It was Annabeth's plan actually. It was genius-"
"Yeah okay whatever." Frank cut him off. Jason looked almost offended. "Do you have any ambrosia on you?"
"Of course I- who's that?" Jason stopped mid sentence. Frank had gone over to Percy and helped him out of the car. Percy groaned and tried to stand on his feet, and succeeded, but shakily. Frank looked at Jason who was pale and in shock.
"Per- what? I- wh- how? How? Where did he- is he okay?" Jason stumbled to them and gingerly touched Percy's shoulder. He suddenly regained his thought process and dug in his pocket, retrieving a block of ambrosia. Frank unwrapped it and jammed it in Percy's mouth. It was probably a little too much for a demigod, because Percy's skin grew really how and his eyes shot open.
"Wow. That is good stuff. Jason! When did you get here?" Percy's confusion couldn't squash his big goofy smile. Jason stared at him for a second and then blinked back tears, emotion showing all over his face. He stepped forward and clutched Percy like a lifeline. Percy returned the bear hug. Suddenly Frank joined in and they were all holding each other, grateful to be alive, not ashamed to be crying.
"Okay, okay. Um..." Jason wiped off his tears with his arm. "Let's get back to the ship. Percy, are you sure you're okay?" Jason looked over and Percy was clutching his chest.
"Uh yeah. Just my ribs. I'm fine though, seriously." Jason stepped forward with concern, but Percy brushed him off.
"How are we going to get back to the ship?" He look up in the wrong direction of where the ship was.
"Well thankfully you ran into the two people here who can fly." Frank grinned. Jason and Percy laughed. Soon, they were each holding one of Percy's arms and flying up to the hovering ship. Percy had his eyes closed tightly.
"What's wrong?" Jason asked.
"Nothing. I just hate flying." Percy responded which caused for another laugh.
"I'm really about to see Annabeth again, huh?" Percy's voice was filled with so much emotion Frank could imagine. Jason smiled at him.
"Yep. You ready?" Jason asked. Percy didn't respond. They didn't think he would. They landed on the deck and Percy grabbed the railing for balance. Suddenly, someone was walking towards them.
"Finally I-" And then an earsplitting scream. Hazel was staring at Percy, hands in front of her face, shaking. Leo was close on her heels walking up the stair and stopped dead at the sight. His mouth dropped and he grabbed the wall behind him to prevent from falling.
"Are you okay?" Piper's voice was heard running up the stairs and ran half way across the deck before noticing Percy. She stumbled back, eyes wide with tears.
"Hey guys-" Percy started to say, but then the words died in his throat. Standing in the doorway was Annabeth. Everything went silent.
Annabeth had one hand on the door frame, but it dropped as she saw him. He face went pale and her face turned into a mask. She slowly started walking forward, shaking. Percy took one painful looking step forward and then stopped. Annabeth was two feet in front of him.
"Annabeth." Percy breathed. He sounded breathless, as if he had just run a mile. Annabeth's eyes were filled with tears. She raised one trembling hand and stared at him for a long moment. No one dared to breath.
"I-" Percy started to say, but then the slap came out of nowhere. Annabeth had slapped him straight across the face. Her face turned red with fury. Her eyes unable to hold a single drop of liquid more spilled over.
"A-annabeth." Percy sounded shocked, but Annabeth turned away and ran downstairs.
