Chapter 19-James's Birthday
February quickly turned into March, and this was James's birthday month. This made Lily excited because after James had pulled out all of the stops for her birthday so now Lily wanted to pull out all the stops for his birthday. Harry had also had some troubles figuring out what to get James for his birthday he kept on thinking what do you get the guy who can get anything for his birthday. Harry knew that his family had money but, he never knew how much money they actually had so it was much easier to find something for him for Christmas. James wasn't too big on his birthday he loved celebrating other people's birthday. James used to think that his birthday was the most important day of the year but, after he deflated his head, his birthday was a little less important to him. Lily knew that James was not as big on his birthday, but she still wanted to make it very special for him.
Lily woke up early on the morning of James's birthday she wanted to surprise James just like he surprised her on the morning of her birthday. Lily had decided to make a traditional English breakfast for James's birthday breakfast. James was normally the early riser, so Lily had to wake up extra early so she could get up and make James's breakfast for him before he got up.
James had woken up and first noticed that Lily wasn't beside him the next thing that he noticed was that the smell of bacon and eggs. Lily was never an early riser so James knew that it must have been a special occasion he thought that maybe Harry was home as Easter was coming up so James went downstairs to see if Harry was home. When James got downstairs though he was surprised to see just Lily cooking a traditional English breakfast. James wrapped his arms around Lily when he got to her.
"James happy birthday!" Lily said as she felt James's arms wrap around her.
"What are you doing up so early today?" James asked.
"James did you seriously forget what day it is today?" Lily asked back to James.
"I'm not sure to be honest now that we're back into lockdown I don't know what day it is most of the time. I really only check when someone is coming over." James answered.
"James it's your birthday today." Lily told him.
"Oh, is it really." James said.
"Yes, it is so go back to bed and I'll bring this up to you." Lily responded.
James knew better then to argue with Lily, so he just went back to bed while Lily finished making breakfast for him. It wasn't much longer until Lily had finished making breakfast and took it upstairs to James.
"I present to you a traditional English breakfast for you sir." Lily said.
"This looks delicious Lily thank you so much." James said.
"Well, I thought that I would make you something nice since you treated me so well on my birthday." Lily said.
"15-year-old me would be absolutely ecstatic that the Lily Evans so serving me breakfast in bed." James said.
"Well, it's a good thing that I didn't marry 15-year-old James that I married." Lily responded. "Although one thing that 15-year-old James wouldn't forget is what day his birthday was."
"Well, once you yelled at me that day at the lake is when I realized that I wasn't the center of the universe ad I started to focus more on making other people besides me and my friends happy." James responded.
Lily climbed into bed with James as James ate his breakfast. James shared his breakfast with Lily as there was enough for the two of them Lily had planned for Sirius and Remus to come over to celebrate James's birthday. They were going to come over sometime in the afternoon, so it was just James and Lily for the entire morning. James and Lily just spent the morning enjoying each others company and reminiscing in their days at Hogwarts.
James and Lily finally got out of bed at about noon and got ready for the day. Lily wanted to go make lunch for James but, he was able to convince her that it would be more fun for James if they made it together. So, that led to James and Lily making lunch together. Together they made homemade pizzas for the both of them. They had a lot of fun making the pizzas together they normally made meals together but, this one was especially fun since it was James's birthday.
They ate the pizzas and by the time that they had finished Remus and Sirius were just entering the house.
"Happy Birthday James!" Sirius shouted.
"Happy Birthday!" Remus also said.
"Thanks guys. How have you guys been lately?" James asked.
"I've been good lately I'm anxious to get out of the house more now that there's been more attacks but, I would rather be out there fighting." Sirius responded.
"Yeah, well I would too." James said. "How are the missions going Remus?"
"The missions are going well but, it would help out if the ministry actually believed us but, ever since Harry did that interview more people have been joining us." Remus answered.
"That's great at least there's some people fighting against them." Lily said.
"Yeah, but let's not talk about it we're going to bring down the party here." Sirius said.
They all had a good time celebrating James's birthday no mentions of the death eaters were mentioned at all. They all talked about the good old days at Hogwarts there were a bit of sad moments when Peter came up. James and Lily still couldn't believe that Peter had betrayed them. It was nice that Remus and Sirius were here tonight as it was so rare for the four of them to be together as Remus was on order missions a lot. Sirius was coming over a lot less now that Lily was in the later stages of her pregnancy and it's not like she doesn't enjoy Sirius's presence but, his visits definitely stress her out and now it wasn't good if Sirius came everyday and stressed her out. Sirius and Remus would be staying for the night. If Remus was able to come over also, they would have Sirius over more often as Remus brought calmness with James and Sirius being together. But when it was just Sirius and James together, they could get on the nerves of Lily. James tried to not stress Lily out but, sometimes he would get carried away when Sirius was around.
After dinner they settled into the sitting room for tea and to watch a movie. However, when they were determining what to watch they were interrupted by an owl arriving at the window. James and Lily recognized that it was Hedwig and let him in the house. Hedwig was carrying a large package with him as well. It had a note from Harry.
Happy Birthday Dad. Hope that this present helps you move into this decade.
After they read it the Harry called from the mirror.
"Hey Dad, did you get my present?" Harry asked.
"Yeah, we just got it." James responded. "I'm opening it right now.
James opened it and saw what was inside. He couldn't believe what Harry had gotten him.
"No way Harry, you got me some new clothes this is really cool." James said.
"Well, to be honest what you wear makes you look like you're from the 1970's so I thought that you needed some help with moving into this decade." Harry said.
"Thank you so much Harry." James responded.
"Hey, no problem dad just wanted to wish you a happy birthday." Harry said.
"Thanks Harry." James said.
"Well, I've got to go now so I'll see you guys during the break." Harry said.
"Ok bye Harry." James and Lily said.
They went back to choosing a movie and they chose to watch Star Wars a new hope. With that they all watched the movie and went to bed.
