Chapter 3

Peter entered Midtown High with Mary Jane Watson and Harry Osbourne.

"I'm so glad you decided to spend senior year here, Harry," Peter said. "You're going to love Midtown High."

"What's up, Penis Parker?!" Flash Thompson hollered as he walked by. "Oh, and it's Scary Osbourne and Mary Lame Watson!"

"Oh yeah," Harry said sarcastically. "This is going to be a great year."

"Stay positive Peter said. "This is our senior year. Next year, we'll be going off to college."

"Not me," Mary Jane said. "I'm going to become a stage actress."

David suddenly approached them.

"Peter," David said. "I need to talk to you."

Flash walked over to them once more.

"Hey, Penis Parker!" Flash hollered. "Is that your boyfriend?!"

"Flash Thompson, right?" David asked.

"Yes," Flash replied.

"Is it true you still sleep with a nightlight and a stuffed teddy bear named Mr. Snuggleton?" David teased.

"How did you know?!" Flash shouted.

Everyone around them began laughing.

"Come with me," David said, walking out of the school.

Peter quickly followed David. Once outside, Peter and David sat on a bench.

"Listen," David said. "Remember that gala we went to on Friday night at Stark Industries?"

"Yes," Peter replied.

"Well," David said. "Before we arrived, Jessica Jones was there."

"She was?" Peter asked.

"Yes," David replied. "And Mr. Stark said she and her sister made quite a scene."

"Wow," Peter said.

"He came up with a good idea," David said. "If she joins our team to help fight Thanos, he won't press theft charges on her for stealing a champagne glass."

"A champagne glass?" Peter asked.

"Apparently it's diamond encrusted," David said. "So how would you like to go with me right now and tell her?"

"David," Peter said. "I have to go to school."

"Skip it," David said.

"This is my first day of my senior year," Peter said. "Besides, I need to get my class schedule."

"Fine," David said. "I'll go alone."

"Thanks," Peter said.

Peter got up and walked over to the front door, where Mary Jane stood waiting for him. David watched as Peter and Mary Jane kissed. He then got a sad look on his face.

Meanwhile, Jessica sat in her office speaking to a young woman.

"My sister and I were at a club," the young woman said. "We were just dancing, and then out of nowhere, this man told us to come with him. And then we did."

"And?" Jessica asked.

"He kind of just checked us out and said we weren't his type and told us to go back inside," the young woman said.

"So, you believe you were almost kidnapped?" Jessica asked.

"It's not that," the young woman replied. "Look, I know you have superpowers."

"I'm lost," Jessica said. "What do superpowers have to do with some creep at a club?"

"My friend and I didn't want to go with him," the young woman explained. "It was almost like he was mind controlling us."

"Mind control?" Jessica asked with her eyes getting wide.

"Yeah," the young woman said. "Mind control."

"Do you remember what he looked like?!" Jessica asked in a panicked tone.

"He had short brown hair and wore a purple suit," the young woman replied. "He spoke with a Scottish accent."

"Listen to me!" Jessica shouted. "Take your friend and get out of New York!"

"Why?" the young woman asked.

"You are in danger!" Jessica shouted. "Go! Go now!"

Half an hour later, Jessica banged on the door of Trish's apartment. Trish answered the door wearing a blue dress and her hair in a ponytail.

"I don't want to talk," Trish said. "I'm like for work and I'm still mad about the gala."

"Trish!" Jessica shouted. "He's alive!"

"Who?" Trish asked.

"Kilgrave!" Jessica shouted.

"Come in," Trish said.

A few minutes later, Jessica and Trish sat on Trish's couch.

"But he's dead," Trish said. "You saw him die!"

"I never actually checked on him after the bus hit him," Jessica said.

"What are you going to do?" Trish asked.

"I need money," Jessica replied. "I'm going to Hong Kong."

"You're running away?" Trish asked.

"You know what he made me do!" Jessica shouted. "I need to get out of New York!"

"Jessica!" Trish said. "Running away is not the answer!"

"There's nothing else I can do!" Jessica shouted. "Can I have the money or not?"

"Fine," Trish said.

Another half hour later, Jessica frantically packed a suitcase. As she packed, she spoke to an airport employee on the phone.

"When is the next flight to Hong Kong?" Jessica asked.

"I'm afraid we don't have any available flights to Hong Kong for another month," the airport employee replied.

"Okay," Jessica said. "What's the furthest I can go today?"

"Honolulu," the airport employee replied. "It departs in three hours."

"I'll take it," Jessica said.

After confirming her flight, Jessica exited her apartment with a suitcase. As she walked down towards the elevator, the elevator doors opened to reveal David.

"You again?" Jessica asked. "I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in joining your team."

"You're running away!" David exclaimed. "Oh no! Kilgrave's alive!"

"Your superpower is still annoying," Jessica said.

"Please don't run away," David said. "Mr. Stark is going to press charges on you for stealing that champagne glass if you don't join my team."

"Seriously?" Jessica asked.

"Yes," David replied.

"The glass is in my kitchen," Jessica said. "He can have it. Bye!"

"Please don't run away," David said. "I can help you defeat Kilgrave."

"How?" Jessica asked. "Are you going to read his mind to death?"

"Look," David said. "You defeated him before, you can defeat him again."

"No," Jessica said.

"You can't run away from your problems," David said. "Think of all the lives you'll be saving if you defeat Kilgrave."

Jessica sighed and then walked back toward her apartment.

"You just had to bring up saving lives!" Jessica shouted.
