"Hmm,"

I was extremely bored with work that thinking about something simple like black tea or coffee completely took my attention away from the large screens playing out the scene in Misa's living room with Light and L.

"Morning, It's a pain coming in with all those security checkpoints."

I glanced towards the voice, noticing Aziawa walking towards us with a bandage on his forehead and his slacks over his arm. I saw the realization on his face of my presence and his current state. Playing it off for his sake, I made my decision of black tea with my normal amount of sugar, spinning the back of my chair towards them.

The drink hit the empty hole in my stomach just right, causing no harm or rumbles in its path. I was joying it so much that I barely noticed the corded telephone being held out to me by Matsuda. I looked up at the flat screens playing in unison, just at different creative angles of the room and faces, to see Misa with the matching one to her ear.

"What's wrong?"

"I need you to come up here and keep Ryuzaki entertained! He's cutting in on my date with Light! Ooh, we could make it a double date!"

She purred on those last few words, and I was starting to understand how she became popular overnight. I agreed to the invitation, mostly thinking about keeping Misa out of the way and distracted.

"Misa's on the fifth floor, correct?" I asked Watari, waiting for the elevator car to come down.

"Yes, Miss. Petrillo."

"I still can't believe you took the fourth floor," Matsuda added.

Throughout my younger years, I studied other things besides the Japanese language, and I understood the superstition of the number four with its pronunciation being the same for the word death. Nonetheless, I never was really lucky so how bad could it ever get for me?

I let myself in and left my heels by the doorway, hearing Misa order me to sit beside her. I said hello to the men across from me once I sat down beside them, but neither of them noticed me so I turned my attention to Misa.

"I heard from Matsuda that you're going to be in that new drama with Hideki Ryuga, Congrats."

"Thanks, but I'm not sure about it anymore."

She informed me that in the first episode she has to kiss Ryuga, being the main love interest and all, and she didn't want to kiss anyone but Light.

"He was my first kiss, after all, I just don't want to cheat on him."

I grabbed her hands, smiling brightly as I said.

"Wait, Light's your first kiss? I need details."

"Oh, it was so romantic! I went over to Light's house and the next thing I knew we Kissed!"

I kept her talking, but in the back of my mind, I remained thinking about Misa and Light kissing in his house. Doesn't this prove Light is Kira? Since there's no doubt that Misa Amane is the second Kira, through evidence and her mouth, doesn't this solidify that Kira and Second Kira met up and have been working together? While this was extremely frustrating, I decided to let L puzzle over it later.

"Ryuzaki…"

The upcoming smack filled the room, the force from Light's fist connecting to L's cheek moved Misa's coffee table and knocked everything off of it. Just like Jack and Jill, Light went tumbling after head over his feet until they both crashed into the wall.

"Are you going to sulk like a baby, Ryuzaki?"

"I may have worded my past statement wrong, but Light, eye for an eye."

The movements reminded me of a crane, the way L used his foot to retaliate against Light's cheek, sending them back to the couches and table again. I pulled the coffee table away from the brawl so no one ended up cracking their head open. Misa tried to get around me, but I put my arm out to stop her. I realized that I was the only one here used to seeing a room torn up by fighting.

"Misa, don't get involved."

"Violet, Light's going to get hurt!"

"You'll get the most of it if you step in."

I turned around to smile at her as something broke in the background behind us.

"Besides, if you get hurt who's going to be there to give aftercare?"

The room's telephone, which had ended up on the floor, gave out a cry breaking up the sound of collateral damage. I asked L if he wanted me to get it, which he declined nicely as he picked up the receiver. A few minutes of nothing, followed by L dropping the phone back into its place.

"What was it?" Light asked, physically letting his guard down.

"Oh, just Matsuda being an idiot."

"Yes, that sounds just like him."

I moved out of Misa's way so she could run to her Light, watching as she locked her arms around his torso and planted kisses all over the same bruised cheek. Starting to feel like a third party, I noticed that L was staring at the floor and walked over. When I got closer I didn't have to ask what he was doing, I saw the upturned plate with the last slice of Watari's cake face down into the carpet.

"Here."

I handed L the chocolate bar from my blazer pocket, smart enough to carry extra sweets when working with him.

"Thank you, this makes me feel better."

"You sure? Your mouth is looking messed up."

"No, no I'll be fine, Miss. Petrillo."

I dropped the concern for now, as the chain attached to L's wrist jiggled with movement from the other side as Misa wormed around with glee.

"You two should kiss! Then it really would be like a double date."

Ignoring her, I inform L of my returning to work downstairs.
