While our friends were on their way to Gondor, at Minas Tirith, Gandalf and the Gondorian Soldiers were standing on the walls, gazing at the colossal army of Orcs , Sauron sent to destroy the city. A few moments ago, Faramir , who was previously sent with some men to take back Osgiliath, had returned but he was gravely injured.
Denethor , seeing his youngest son in this state, was filled with grief and even ignored Pippin, when the Hobbit told him that Faramir needed medicine. The Steward of Gondor then had ordered everyone to flee for their lives when he saw the army surrounding Minas Tirith but , thankfully, a white staff knocked him down, courtesy of Gandalf who had enough of the dark haired man.
" Send these foul beasts into the abyss !" The White Wizard inquired the soldiers at his sides as they all gazed at the opposed army. The Gondorians obeyed without hesitation and began firing with their trebuchets , sending to their enemies massive rocks of their own. An ugly Orc , whose name was Gothmog, watched as the rocks crushed some of his sodiers as the ones around him were shifting fearfully.
"Stay where you are !" he ordered them sternly and they obeyed him… with reluctance but they did. The Orcs fired back with their catapults but some of them got destroyed by the trebuchets of their enemies. It was an exchange of rocks from both sides and the Gondorian Archers , thanks to their better position, could kill their enemies when the Orcs couldn't.
One of the rocks sent by the Orcs crashed against a wall taking some Gondorian Soldiers with it. Thankfully, more soldiers came front inside the city and among them was our small friend Pippin. Another trebuchet fired a large rock arcs out from the city and Gothmog saw that it was heading right toward him . His nearest soldiers backed out of the way of the projectile. When the boulder was too close to his liking, Gothmog sidestepped and the massive rock landed a few inches away to his right. Then the General Orc spitted on the boulder in disgust as , in the sky, the Nine Nazguls , all riding their flying beasts headed toward Minas Tirith. Among them was the Witch-King of Angmar.
The Gondorian Soldiers, seeing them, began to panic as the Nazguls began to tear the trebuchets apart or causing death and chaos among the human soldiers. The Witch-King flied in a walkway, still flying his beast who used the claws of its hind-legs to knock some Gondorian Men out of its way. The Nazgul Leader watched the city as he suddenly released a ear-piercing screech which caused many to cover their ears in pain.
At the same time, Pippin was trying to find Gandalf in the chaos as he threw his helmet off his head to cover his ear just like many thanks to the screech. From his post, Gandalf and some soldiers were looking at the Nazguls with worry but then the White Wizard turned his head to look at them "Hold them back ! Do not give in to fear ! Stay at your posts !"
A trebuchet fired another rock which destroyed the top part of an Orc Siege Tower. Another one was completely teared apart by one of the Nazguls' mounts and the soldiers manning it were sent flying off the tower straight to the ground below. A Nazgul screeched which caused some men to fall on their knees while covering their ears in agony as another Fellbeasts flew through the air to pick up some soldiers , carrying them away before dropping them when it was high enough.
On the field, the Sieges Tower along with the Orcs army were coming closer and closer to the gates as the remaining catapults kept firing to what were left of the Gondorian Trebuchets. The Human Archers fired their arrows but some of them were sadly targeting , not the Orcs, but the Towers which was useless " Don't aim for the towers ! Aim for the Trolls ! Kill the Trolls ! Fight them back !" Gandalf ordered them and the Archers swiftly changed target to fired their arrows at some Trolls who , thanks to their strong tolerance for pain, didn't slowed down despise the rain of arrows falling on them.
However, some Siege Towers were able to reach the walls and pulled out their ramps so the Orcs gathered inside could come out and attack the Gondorian Forces. The Human Soldiers ,however, managed to hold them from getting too far and some Orcs were sent flying after being shot by arrows.
Back on the field, a large group of Orcs approached the gates with a ram but the Gondorian Archers standing above shot their arrows , taking many Orcs down but the rams were still battling against the door; Thankfully, the gates remained strong and in fact, the rams were doing nothing , not even a nudge.
Some Orcs stood there waiting for the doors to fall as the Human Archers kept firing at them. Some Archer Orcs fired back but it was useless because the Gondorians had a better position. On the walls, the tower sieges were letting out their ramps and many Orcs jumped off to fight off the Gondorian Soldiers who fought them back, preventing them to go further.
Gandalf , who was there, turned around to find Pippin who just appeared "Peregrin Took ! Go back to the citadel ! Now !" The White Wizard ordered the dazed Hobbit who responded in a subdued tone " They called us out to fight !" As he said this, another Siege Tower dropped out its ramp and Orcs poured out of it. Gandalf turned around to see that some Orcs broke through after taking down some soldiers and quickly fought them as they began to charge for Pippin.
After taking down the two Orcs , the White Wizard looked back at Pippin before saying hurriedly "This is no place for a Hobbit !" But then Gandalf quickly turned around when he heard another Orc charging him and he quickly slammed his staff onto the Orc , stunning him in the process. Then he trusted his sword through the Beast, taking it down as another Orc charged him.
At the same time, another Siege Tower deployed its ramp as a wave of Orcs poured out of it to swarm the walls. Gandalf swung his staff into an Orc as another one charged him only to have its face smacked by the Wizard's staff. Then Gandalf twirled his around before slamming both his weapons into the beast who fell face first into the stairs.
However, the White Wizard didn't noticed that another Orc was waking its way toward him raising its axe. Pippin reacted quickly and stabbed the beast just as Gandalf turned around. The Orc had stopped in its tracks , it seemed to realized that it had been stabbed as a few seconds later, it collapsed on the ground, dead. Pippin, shocked by what he did, looked at his sword which was covered in the Orc's blood just as Gandalf was looking at him with a smile of relief and pride about the fact Pippin made a good decision in his life " Guard of the Citadel indeed !" The White Wizard said as he fully turned to face the Hobbit before adding hurriedly "Now back up the hill ! Quick ! Quick !"
Back to the gates, the rams were still battling against the doors in an attempt to break them but it was futile. The Archers posted above kept shooting their arrows which was creating a large pile of dead Orcs before the gate. Gothmog walked around in the back and when he saw some of his own soldiers running away, he became angry about their cowardice and about the fact they couldn't break the gates "What are you doing, you useless scum ?!" he asked them angrily.
One Orc, a captain by the look of it, was the one who responded "The door won't give ! It's too strong !" "Get back there and smash it down !" Gothmog ordered him but the Captain retorted back by saying "But nothing can breach it !" At the gates, more and more Orcs kept being shot by the arrows of the Gondorian Archers, adding more corpses on the pile of dead bodies.
Gothmog looked back at the gate before an evil grin appeared on his ugly and deformed face "Grond will breach it..." he said as he turned around before yelling out "Bring up the wolf's head !" the Orcs began to cheer as a great battering ram pulled by four horned massive creatures was heading towards the gates. The large ram was also pushed by some trolls. From his position, Gandalf watched the scene with a serious expression on his face as the Orcs kept cheering for the colossal ram.
"Grond ! Grond ! Grond ! Grond ! Grond ! Grond ! Grond !"

Meanwhile, far away from the battle, Theoden and his army stopped to rest for a bit near a medium sized lake. Eomer then approached his Uncle and King to deliver some news "The scouts report Minas Tirith is surrounded ! The lower level's in flames ! Everywhere legions of the enemy advance !" "Time is against us..." Theoden responded in a worried tone.
Not too far from, Kopa , Vitani , Kovu , Kiara and 8 the other Lionesses were crouching down on the grasses chatting with each other. After all, it had been a long time since Kopa and his beloved joined the Fellowship and left their families and now they were reunited… well not entirely but still it was better than nothing.
" I hope Pippin and Gandalf are alright..." Vitani inquired as she looked at the distance where Minas Tirith was supposed to be.
"I hope it too…" Kopa whispered back as he nuzzled his mate's cheek who purred back in appreciation. "I don't know this Pippin very well but for what you told us, he can take care of himself… when he isn't doing anything stupid..." Kovu remarked with a grin which caused every Lions to laugh with humor.
Since they reunited at Dunharrow, Kopa and Vitani told their fellow Lions about what they went through and to say they were shocked was understandable. Kiara became curious of the little human girl her brother and sister-in-law , partially adopted as their own and was excited to meet her when this War was over. She wasn't the only one thought. The other Lionesses (and Kovu )seemed just as excited to see the child who warmed the heart of Vitani who wasn't known to be easy to soften up.
Kiara then sighed deeply as she opened her mouth to say "If someone had told me we would go at War with an army of Men, I wouldn't have believed them !" "Tell me about it but hey here we are !" her mate replied back before Kopa stepped in "And beside, we cannot let Sauron take over Middle-Earth… Imagine what would happen..."
The Pridelanders shivered at the thought : If Sauron won this war, everything would be lost forever. The Free People would be massacred or enslaved, their lands destroyed and pilled. What about them ? If they were lucky, they would be locked in cages like common Beasts… but if they weren't…
"Hey at least we are together !" Kiara said in an attempt to brighten the mood and it seemed to work because around the Princess everyone smiled. "Yes we are… As Lions we stand together !" Kopa said as he stood n his full size looking at his fellow Pridelanders with determination in his eyes turquoise blue eyes. "We must fight ! For the Pridelands ! For our home ! For Middle-earth !" Vitani shouted the last and the Lions around her all cheered with enthusiasm.
Then a horn-like sound was heard echoing in the air as Eomer's voice soon was heard yelling out "Prepare to move out !" Another voice followed the man and Kopa recognized who it belonged as he saw him re-mounting his horse "Make haste ! We ride through the night !" Theoden said as he looked at everyone present.
The Lions of the Pridelands all went back to their paws before following the column of Rohirrim Soldiers to their next and final destination : Minas Tirith. As they walked, the felines were exchanged looks of determination in their eyes and all of them hoped that none of them would meet their ends during the upcoming battle.

At the same time, away from our leonine friends, things were becoming out of control.
In Minas Tirith, the large ram , called by the Orcs as 'Grond' managed to break through the gates and now waves of enemies were entering the place, fighting off the Gondorian Soldiers who were trying their best to hold them off. Trolls and Nazguls also participated in the massacre. In the House of Kings, all the way up , Denethor decided to burn himself , believing that the House of Steward had failed in their mission. He wanted to be burned alongside his supposed dead son , Faramir.
In Minas Morgul, Frodo was walking through dark tunnels after he defeated Gollum by pushing the thin creature down a ravine. Why ? Because he finally realized that Smeagol had tricked him by luring him in the lair of a gigantic spider-like monster. He managed to outrun it but then he got embushed by Gollum and after a short brawl, he tossed his former guide off a cliff. He was now regretting what he did to Sam and was ashamed by how naive he was to listen to Gollum.
