After the awkward encounter with Scorpius, Harry had rushed back to his and Ginny's cabin to try and talk to her about what had happened the night before. It was still early, but she must have been trying to avoid him - avoid any more arguing - because when he arrived at the cabin, she was already gone.
He would have preferred to have resolved their issues before the wedding, but there was no time to try and find her, so he had gotten changed instead, before running out to meet Neville, who couldn't join them for the full trip, but who wouldn't miss the wedding for anything.
Showing Neville around - as Albus had asked him to - and helping to fix some last-minute issues had kept Harry from worrying about both Ginny and Draco for at least a little while. But now that he is sitting there, watching the boys say their vows in this room which has been turned into the Winter Wonderland they had dreamed of, and which has been enchanted so that snow is falling down around them, slowly covering the room in a blanket of thick, glimmering snow - he can't help but think of his own failed marriage, and of what the future might have in store for Draco and him. For a moment he allows his thoughts to wander off, and to imagine what it would be like to do all this with Draco - to be the ones standing there right now, saying their I do's. It's an absurd thought, of course, and he knows it, so he quickly shrugs it off.
Draco had rejected him, and he knows it would be best to accept the rejection and walk away now. Because what good could have come of it anyway? Still, he can't help but look over at him and notice how emotional he is - how he keeps wiping away the tears from his face, sniffling softly.
It makes Harry feel warm all over, but when he glances over to Ginny - who is sitting next to him, but who couldn't feel further away from him at the same time - his blood turns cold. She is staring straight ahead at the boys, but there is no emotion on her face whatsoever. He knows how important today is, and how proud she is of Albus, so for her to be like this, it just shows how upset she still is about last night, and it makes him feel sick with guilt.
He can't exactly apologise to her during the ceremony though, but as soon as it's over and the boys have left to get their pictures taken, he pulls her to the side.
"I am so sorry for what I said to you last night. I had no right, and…"
"You did," Ginny sighs, "and I am sorry too. I know I haven't exactly been the best company this week. I didn't know it was going to be like this… having to pretend to be married again, after we've both been working so hard to move on from what we had so we could start our own lives? It's hard," she admits. "Because this… it should have still been like this, shouldn't it?"
Harry isn't sure what to say to that, because it almost sounds like she still wants them to be married. But they both agreed that even if they tried to talk to someone about the problems in their marriage - about the cheating - they had grown too far apart already, and it would never be as it had once been. Neither of them wanted this divorce, but in the end they had agreed that it was the only option for them.
"I don't want us to fight anymore, Gin," he tells her. "I want us to be friends again, for the children's sake.
"Me too." Ginny nods. "I think it will get easier when we can stop pretending."
"I doubt we've been fooling anyone," Harry chuckles, but when he sees the embarrassed look on her face, he quickly changes the subject. "How is your hand, by the way?"
"Sore, but it will be alright. I'm sorry I lost it like that."
"I'm just glad you're okay," Harry says, and he means it. No matter the fighting, no matter how hard these last few days have been, he loves her, and he would hate for her to have seriously hurt herself. All of this, it's not because they hate each other, but it's because they care about each other too much still, and because this is just so painful and so conflicting. So he wraps his arms around her, and when he feels her resting her head on his shoulder, it's like all of the arguing of the last days hasn't happened at all, and everything is as it should have been in the first place. Maybe it's because they both want to have only good memories of their son's wedding, or perhaps they are both simply too tired to fight any longer, but either way, when they let go of each other, they both know that nothing like last night will ever happen between them again.
Harry looks over to Draco, a little worried to find him on his own now that Luna is busy catching Neville up on how the trip has been so far. But Molly is standing there with him, handing him a tissue, as he still seems to be emotional. It makes Harry smile to himself, as only days ago he was like a stranger to all of them, and no one had been quite sure how to interact with him. Yet now it seems like he has been part of the family for years.
Ginny notices him checking on Draco, because she grabs his hand and gives it a little squeeze. For a moment he thinks she is upset with him, but when he sees the small smile on her face, he knows that she doesn't mind. Not anymore.
"I'm sorry," he whispers, just in case Lily and her boyfriend, who are now standing closeby, will overhear him. "I never meant for anything to happen between me and him."
"So something did happen?"
"No, I just meant… I'm not sure," he admits, his cheeks flushing. Because as much as he would like to tell her the truth, as he hates to lie to her, he doubts she would be happy if she found out about him kissing Draco last night. "But I like him, Gin."
"I don't get it," Ginny admits, laughing. "He's just so…" She shakes her head, but she doesn't finish her thought, which is probably for the best. "But if you like him…"
"I know that it's soon."
"It's not," Ginny smiles reassuringly. "and if you think that… bloody Malfoy can make you happy, then you should go for it. Just don't let the children find out about it, please. Not until we've talked to them about the divorce. I don't want them to get the wrong idea, and I don't want them to get upset."
"There is nothing to tell them," Harry has to admit, because no matter how much his feelings have grown for the other man, if Draco doesn't feel the same way and wants nothing more to do with him after this week, none of it matters, does it?
Albus and Scorpius had taken some time to take their wedding pictures together outside in the snow - Hermione offering to be photographer for the occasion - while the family had had a drink and a snack.
Albus had asked his siblings and their partners to join them for some pictures too, and Harry hadn't thought anything of it. He was busy talking to Luna and Neville about the deer in the woods - with whom Luna was completely and utterly fascinated.
So when Scorpius had asked him, Ginny and Draco to join them outside, and the others were sent back inside, he was a little surprised. And, he had to admit, a little uncomfortable to be standing there taking pictures as though everything was still right between him and Ginny. But more than that, awkward to be standing there as a couple, when Draco stood there by himself on Scorpius' side - without Astoria there. It made him feel guilty somehow, but he had no choice but to fake a smile for the pictures.
"Now… sorry, mum, but would it be okay to get a few taken with just dad and Draco?" Albus asks, and where he probably suggests it because it would be nice to have a picture of them with their fathers, the suggestion makes Harry's legs feel all wobbly.
"Of course." Ginny smiles, hiding it well if the suggestion did hurt her feelings.
Harry puts his arm around his son's shoulder, trying hard not to think about Draco, but he can only imagine what Ginny must be thinking right now. He can only imagine what these pictures will look like in the future, if he and Draco… no, he can't be thinking things like that. Because, as he had told Ginny, nothing is actually going on between them. So there is no point in imagining a future together.
So he tries to keep the smile on his face, and when Hermione shoots him a questioning look - knowing him well enough to see when his smile isn't real - he quickly shrugs it off. And when she confirms that she has taken enough pictures, he quickly gives the boys a hug before rushing back inside, a little embarrassed that he had quite literally run away from Draco. But after their kiss, that awkward moment with Scorpius together, and now Ginny's support, he's not quite sure how to be around him - especially not with everyone here to witness if he were to mess it all up.
