The next day during lunch Edward furiously sought out either Mr. Mustang or Ms. Hawkeye. He spied Roy on the soccer field during recess. Roy smirked as he watched Edward stomp across the school grounds. "How dare you!" he shouted. Roy's smirk faltered as he kicked a ball towards the net.

"What's wrong Ed?" He called as Ed crossed the field.

"You called my mom!" Roy stopped dribbling and his jaw dropped. He turned to Ed, Ed stopped approximately 10 feet from him. "You called my mom!" Ed held his hands out waiting for an explanation.

"What?! No, I didn't call your mom." Roy put his hands on his head. "Riza"

Ed huffed. "Why is she meeting with Ms. Hawkeye right now?" Ed appeared panicked.

Roy kicked another ball to the net and then looked to the sky. "For stars sake Hawkeye." Roy shook his head. Ed kicked a ball aiming for Roy. Roy deflected it down with his arms. "I don't know Ed, honestly I didn't know she did that." He offered. Ed's face was red, his eyes wide.

"But why? I thought that I could trust you guys!"

Roy toyed with a ball. "Look she's just looking out for you, I'm sure. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you."

"Easy for you to say." Ed growled. Roy passed a ball to him. "Now my mom has to worry about me too." He shot the ball to the net.

"Edward, she's your mother. Besides I'm sure that Hawkeye is just meeting with her so that she can be satisfied." He passed Ed another ball.

"Satisfied?!" he launched the ball toward the net. Roy watched the second shot with interest.

"Look, you didn't hear this from me. Okay?" Roy offered and passed another ball.

"Sure, whatever." Ed crossed his arms and ignored the ball.

"Riza's mother passed away when she was younger, before high school." Ed's face watched his with interest "Her dad wasn't ready, and it changed the family dynamic. She didn't have it easy." Ed passed the ball back. "Sophomore year of high school her father died. There was no one to take her, it was hard on her. She ended up staying with her boyfriend's family until her grandfather moved out here. She probably just wants to make sure the same doesn't happen to you."

Ed appeared calmer with the explanation. "There was no one to take her?"

"No. She showed up to her boyfriend's house in the middle of the night with a backpack. She had walked there, it was miles away from the hospital." Roy was now feet away from him. "She was cold and lost. This was her sophomore year of high school. Her grandfather moved back to East City and took care of her sometime after that." Ed gave him a funny look.

"You knew her back then?" His face was calm now.

Roy shrugged "we were good friends back then." Roy gestured over the field "we both went to school here."

Ed chuckled "Of course you guys are good friends."

"Hey" Roy whined "What's that suppose to mean?" Roy passed the ball back.

"Nothing, it just there is this rumor that you two are together." Ed rubbed the back of his head.

Roy shook his head and shot the ball in the net. "No were not together." Roy stood and sighed.

"Hey, thanks."

Roy turned to him "Of course, I'm sorry that she called your mom before speaking with you." He put his hand on Ed's shoulder.

Ed shrugged "Maybe she'll open up to Ms. Hawkeye." Roy smiled and retrieved the balls from the net.

"You know you have a pretty solid shooting leg there." Roy pointed and smiled.

"Ha yea I played a little soccer before moving out here." Ed shrugged. The bell rung and Ed turned to leave.

"Tryouts are next week, you should sign up!" Roy shouted to him.

"Maybe I will!" Ed shouted back.
