Grimm Fall

Chapter Three: Oppressive Subjugation

The ground trembles and shakes as a train with a white snowflake logo painted roughly on both sides has been puffing an array of colored dust in its trail through a red forest valley. The words, "Schnee Dust Company", are written on both sides of the train. The colors in the air mix as volatile sparks against the trees set ablaze before a tall hill shadowed by two figures seeing the train zip past them. The figures wore white coats with a red panther on the back along with three claw marks cutting the face of the panther into three sections. The figure, on the left, is a man standing tall, slender, and slim with a white-red half mask only covering his eyes. His red hair spikes up with orange tips. His hair only matched with the black horns curved on the forehead. His hands were cautiously on a black blade beside the right of his hip, a katana.

The figure on the right is a shorter and slender agile woman. She wore a white half mask with golden outlines along with a gold line under her eyes. Her cat-like ears on top of her head perk up listening to the cry of the forest. Her black coat with purple lines streaking up and down only complimented her silky black hair flowing through the wind. She held onto two black swords by her hips. She stared down at the fire below growing, calling to her, crackling towards her skin.

"Vile humans." The voice deep and rough spoke out of the male figure. "Every path they walk only destruction follows." The commanding voice sneers down at the fire. The wind swiftly whisk away the fire only leaving the burnt crisp.

"We are no better." The voice of a stoic and calm woman spoke beside the man. The man looked to his left to see the woman hadn't moved an inch, not a twitch.

"We are no better? Explain."

"We are merely observing. Just as right now, a tree burnt to cinders and we watched. A train slipped by. We are just as bad as they are just by watching."

"Philosophy such as that shall get us nowhere."

"Then, why are we still standing here?"

"Our ride is about here is why." The man spoke, turning his hand and pointing with his black and red gloves towards the tracks as the ground began to shake again. The sound of another train rumbling with loud ringing noises screams through the blistering sky. Another snowflake logo was patched onto the train.

"Our allies will take the first train, the second one will take priority." The man spoke as he jumped down the sloped hill sliding down and the woman looking down, pondering before she jumped a couple of seconds behind him. The wind brushes past the two with a hurricane of red leaves making a path towards the barreling train. The man jumps towards the train catching onto the cart with the woman behind him jumping onto the other side of the said cart. Her footing almost let go as her hand struck against the handlebars pulling herself back up.

Standing before a red door, she looks through the glass to see her ally on the other side peering into. The both of them see a couple of men in silver armor and small iron rifles laid about. The woman mumbled to herself, counting how many guards. She looked up and held up a gesture of four to the man on the other side. The man nods and opens the door abruptly looking directly at the soldiers with rifles. The sudden entrance startled the guards grabbing onto their weapons in a hurried fixture and aiming at the man.

"H-How did you get out?" One of the soldiers spoke with a quake in their voice. The man before them stood calmly holding onto the katana.

"Hey! Take that damn mask off and look at us!" Another soldier spoke aggressively, placing a finger on the trigger. The man simply did not give them a glance as his eyes laid towards the ground.

During the confrontation, the woman had silently opened the door hearing the commotion and stealthily walked behind the soldiers holding onto her swords. Deep in their shadow as the sun-blasted through the doorway glaring at the soldiers, the woman began to unshadow herself creeping closer to the fourth guard. The soldier's head turned slightly to see the woman's weapon almost clash into his neck as she hesitated. A bead of sweat dropped from Blake. A blast was heard. Flashes of light rushing and coursing through her eyes remembering. She remembered the very soldiers before her.

"Hah! Look at her squirm! Dance little fanus! Dance!" The sound of a greedy and vile man haunts the little girl. He wore the same outfit as the soldiers she faced. She shivered and hopped from one foot to the other as the sound of a whip landed before her feet. It misses, it gets one and sometimes it snaps both of her feet making the man enjoy himself. She felt hopeless, helpless, and most of all anger of fire burning within her.

Shaking her head from the memory, she gazes before her the body of four soldiers that had fallen limp on the grounds. The sound of coughing and squirming was apparent. Blood dripped from her swords. She couldn't tell what had happened, she touched her forehead and felt heat course through her. Her ally approached her.

"Your father won't like this." The man spoke, placing a hand on her shoulder.

The woman took a moment to breathe. She couldn't remember but the feeling of a beast inside of her. She wanted to rampage badly. "If so, are you going to tell?" The woman side-glance the man as she shook some blood off of her swords.

"No." The man spoke looking through the open door. "It was in self-defense." He added.

"There is only so much self-defense will go." The woman looks back down at the bloody corpses of what appears to be Schnee soldiers. She kicks one of the corpses.

"Hey," The man looks down at the woman grabbing her arm. "Anger has no place right now. Our kind needs us to be strong, especially now." The gruff turned soft through her ears as he looked back out again. "If you are going to use anger, use it in saving our kind from extinction." He let go of the woman before walking towards where she had entered from.

The woman stared lonely at the corpse, spilling the last bit of blood before walking away a couple of inches away from the man. As the two walks on the metal platforms, the woman looks up watching the colors from the train fade into the sky creating a mixture of colors whisking around the dancing leaves. Without a moment's notice, her whole body had stopped looking up feeling the wind shift pushing her forward. She slowly took her first step then another.

A group of soldiers starts running out onto the train platform aiming their rifles, halting the two in their tracks.

"Stop!" One of the guards yelled out.

"I-I know them!" Another one spills, shaking in their combat boots, "That's the guardian of the beast and the beast itself!" The man points at the woman looking scared for his life, lowering his rifle.

"She doesn't like to be called that." The Guardian of the Beast placed his hand on the katana with the Beast's ears perking up hearing the group whisper and shake.

"Like hell, we care what you like to be called. All you people cause is nothing but trouble." Another guard spoke with hatred in his eyes.

"We tried." The Guardian of the Beast sighs before looking up at the group of guards. The scene drains all colors but black and red. The train seemingly slowed down only for a moment as the man reels back with his leg into a stance to strike.

"Fire!" The voice spoke loud as blue lights shot out from the rifles hitting against a small red shield around the man. The man smirks but gives no reason to look at the group. The woman looked at her guardian and pulled his katana out slowly with a red cackling of light flashing around him. Then in an instant, he pulls as hard and fast as he can on his katana, striking against the air sending a wave of red energy razor towards the group of soldiers. The blast from his katana collides, ripping in half some of the guards while many fell off the train itself. The blood splattered across the platform. The guardian sheathed his weapon falling to his knees catching his breath.

"Adam!" The woman spoke running towards him.

"I'm okay," Adam spoke, gesturing to her to stop. "I just need a moment to breathe. You should know by now." He states.

"I know but it doesn't make me careless." The woman spoke, grabbing onto Adam pulling him up from his position. He uses the katana to stand up properly leaning on his partner. He points with his katana towards the cart before them. There was an indent caused by the blast from Adam. The woman takes the man with her leaning him against the wall. She grabbed one of the severed hands and placed it on the scanner making the doors open. The Beast's eyes open widely at the sight before her.

The light shined through the dim and dark cart with the rattling of chains ringing and echoing through her ears. Her ears perked up to the sound of sobbing and sniffling of the masses within this confinement. A collective of gasps and hurried to the corner of the cart. A cry of help and plea. She takes a deep breath as her eyes closed before walking back in.

From side to side, she saw adults, young adults, and children chained up against the walls. Most of the adults were skinny to the bone, young adults battered and bruised while the children sobbed quietly to themselves as they flinched from the light. The clothes they wore were ragged, days old and the smell of despair filling the air. A skinny to the bone man with antlers looks up with no emotion.

"You." The man spoke with a hurried tone. "You are the Beast! The savior of fanus!" The man broke out into a cry. "We are saved!" He screams out to bring everyone in the cart's attention to Beast standing in the doorway. The sounds of sobbing and cheers filled the air moved Beast in ways she never felt before. She took a moment to breathe, soak everything in and clench her fingers together. She opened her eyes and removed her mask revealing her dark black eyes.

"My name is Beast of the White Fang! I have come to liberate you all!" Beast spoke loudly and the fanuses attention sniffled towards the woman standing up straight with a proud pose. "You are weak now but in due time you will be fine. I will guide you, help you towards a better light. Starting today, you are protected by the White Fang!" She gritted her teeth but her emotions and face grew pale. The sound of a machine approaching, slamming its feet clanking on the ground. The people were back into their hopeless state as she turned around to see what the machine was.

The machine stood tall piloted by Schnee soldiers gritting their teeth. The machine had two Gatling guns attached to it with wires of all colors connecting to the guns. Pumping dust within the machine as it moves slowly towards them. Adam pushes himself off the wall and looks inside at Beast and everyone inside making him look away and clench his fist and teeth.

"Beast! Out here!" He yells out with her running out to assist Adam.

"What is the plan?" Beast spoke, pulling out her swords.

"People first," Adam spoke with a slight bit of anger. "Go to Vale. The City of Vale. There is a small encampment of White Fangs there. Not plenty but enough to assist in relocating the fanus inside there." He points towards all the chained individuals.

"What about you?" She asked, grabbing onto him before he shrugs her off walking forward over a chain between the two carts.

"I will find you again," Adam spoke, turning his back towards the machine. He unsheathed his katana striking the chain-link cutting the ties that bonded the carts. The Beast reached out towards Adam who grew further and further away. A rush of red leaves shadowed between the two as the sound of gunfire is heard. Tears stream down Beast's eyes breaking down outside of the door.

"Not again." She mutters to herself as she slams onto the door making people flinch and scared. She looks with her teeth sharp and her eyes wide. Her head shook and placed her mask back on.

A long road ahead towards the City of Vale.
