With the new found ability of telepathy Kagome found she could hear others thoughts once she and Sesshomaru had conversed.

At first it was hard to discern feelings from actual thoughts but within two days time she could figure it out. She had only really tried it on her parents, she had to know if what Sesshomaru and Miroku had been told about her expedited marriage was true.

To her dismay it was. Standing on her balcony she watched her husband work as she spoke with him.

'Naraku will be here with his entourage tomorrow. The household has been preparing for it. Tonight I will be let out to dine with my father and mother, that is when they are going to tell me.' She said.

Staring at his task at hand he ripped apart the metal bindings of an old barrel with one hand.

'It is only a matter of a few days Kagome until we will be ready to leave. Miroku knows to stall as much as he can. I have no doubt you will think of something as well.' Glancing up at her he saw her leaning against the rail.

'I know.' Came her meek reply. 'The idea of it though, the thought of having to be presented to another man and having to put on a show…is exhausting.'

'I have the upmost confidence in you my little one that you will put on your best performance yet.' Smirking at his words she nodded to herself.

"Kagome." Turning she saw her mother coming towards her from her room.

"Mother." She greeted.

"Tonight you will join your father and I in the main dining hall." She said firmly.

"Alright." Holding her breath she reached out for Sesshomaru feeling his energy entwine with hers reassuringly.

With a nod her mother turned to leave pausing at her vanity as if something had caught her attention.

"This drawer is not closing properly." She commented reaching to open it.

'The notes.' Kagome felt her panic slam into her as she hurried into the room. "Oh yeah, this old thing. It does that." She replied flippantly.

Taking the drawer in her own hand she slammed it shut before her mother could pry any further.

"Well, you have had it since you were small. I am certain another will be gifted to you." Her mother said.

"What is that supposed to mean?" She questioned guessing her mother meant as a wedding present.

"I will see you at dinner. Your ladies will attend to you this evening."

"Yes mother." She nodded sighing deep relief as she left. "That was close."

'Kagome? Is everything alright?' She heard Sesshomarus urgency.

'Yes my love. It is.' Opening the drawer she took the notes out of their compartment and looked over them. 'I have kept your notes and they were nearly found just now.'

'That is a risk that you should not have taken.' He chided.

'I know but up until a couple days ago it was the closest I could get to you.'

'Soon wife, very soon we will be together always.'

'I can't wait.' Holding them to her chest she went to the hearth in her room and tossed them into the fire.

Entering the dining hall she stopped in her tracks. Beside her father was a younger man with dark ebony hair tied back into a long tail that hung down his back. Pale skin and dark eyes she swallowed hard before pressing on.

"Lord Naraku, this is my daughter; the lady Kagome Higurashi." Her father said as they both stood to greet her formerly.

"Lord Naraku." She bowed respectfully feeling her heart pound as her stomach knotted painfully. 'No. He shouldn't be here yet.'

Sitting next to her mother she clenched her hands in her lap under the table.

"Kagome, Lord Naraku is to be your husband. You will be leaving with him to his household to establish it as your own." He father explained. "While it was planned for a wedding by weeks end Lord Naraku arrived earlier than anticipated and you will be wed tonight."

Kagomes eyes widened as she stared at her father.

"Father, I still have not completed my lessons with master Miroku." She said. "Surely my lord would not want his bride to be poorly educated."

"No worries Lady Kagome. I will arrange for your lessons to be completed once we return to my compound." Naraku stated. His voice slid down her spine leaving her uncomfortable.

"I…am still overcome by…what occurred. I do not feel as if my mind is…is cleared from…"

"Enough." He father spat out through gritted teeth. "Tonight you will wed and be gone by morning."

"Once you are settled we will have a grander ceremony my lady." Naraku said. "For now we will simply get the formality of it out of the way."

"Mother…" Looking to her mother for support she found none. Feeling frozen in place she reached out to her husband but they were to far away. She couldn't reach him.

After dinner Kagome was brought to her chambers where she was bathed, dressed in finery, hair strung up and put into place with fancy hair combs, as well as her face made up with cosmetics.

"Beautiful." Her mother said. "I know this is a surprise but Kagome, it is time. You will make a wonderful wife and an honorable mother to his children."

Staring at her reflection she felt hot tears burn in her eyes. She was a good wife, the little bit that she had been able to be to Sesshomaru. She wanted to be a good mother as well to her husbands offspring, not Narakus.

"Come Kagome." Her mother beckoned leading her by the hand out of her room.

'Forgive me my love, my Sesshomaru.' She extended out as far as she could go hoping it would reach him.
