I wrote this because I wanted to do a character study of a friendship between Uhura and Kirk and how their relationship helps them both learn how to relate to Spock better. This is a Kirk and Uhura friendship fic mostly, but there is Spock/Uhura goodness

An away mission goes wrong, an important diplomatic assignment isn't what it seems, and logic is elusive at the best of times. Spock would have an easier time dealing with all that if he hadn't decided to try and keep Kirk alive. Slow building K/S.

Jim is annoyed, McCoy's advice sucks, and Spock's been shut out. Sometimes the simplest solution is the right one. K/S, cliche fic.
