Sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes awakens from a coma only to find that the world as he knew it is over, having been ravaged by a zombie apocalypse. A fellow survivor tells him about a refugee center in Atlanta, so he heads there with hopes of finding his missing wife and son, eventually joining with other survivors to fight off the undead in this terrible new reality.

We always hurt our own kind, that was one thing I learned at a very young age. Every day is about survival. There's barely room for anything else. If you had asked me what I thought a few odd years ago, I would have told you that hurting others is wrong. But now, I'm not so sure. I'm barely even human.
