Prequel to 'The Last Part'. It had been four days since the prison had fallen and he had yet to see any sign of his group. Alone was not a new sensation for him... The baby in his arms shifted in her sleep - well, not completely alone.

Her breaths came harder and faster as she backed up away from the closing in herd. She felt hot tears build in her eyes, her heart hammering wildly against her ribcage. Suddenly a hand closed around her arm and she spun around, ready to fight. "Jesus, woman, it's me," a gruff male voice grunted.

What if Sophia wasn't in that barn? What if the group never found her before leaving the farm? What if instead Sophia happened upon a very unlikely ally, Merle Dixon, and the two had no choice but to rely upon eachother as they searched for the group.
