This story is based on a show I am currently working on: Carlisle Floyd's 1950s American aria, Susannah, which, in turn, is based on the Apocyphal tale of Susannah and the Elders in the Bible. Note: for any lines of dialogue, assume that the characters are singing them. Remember, this is based on an opera. As you might imagine, there are no Hunger Games in this alternate reality.

After the devastating news that neither she nor her mother are a match for a bone marrow transplant for Prim, Katniss is hit with the news that she and Prim don't share a father. As she tries to come to terms with the news, she also must come to terms with the drunken mistake she made at a party she didn't even want to go to. All the while praying that her sister gets a miracle.

This is yet another iteration of the Third Quarter Quell. I wrote a story about the First Quarter Quell featuring a District 8 victor named Indigo Weaver. In that story, I killed him off a few years before the start of the books, to keep in line with the continuity of Catching Fire. But what if he hadn't, and victors were going back into the arena? Tobi isn't a good candidate for the Hunger Games. In fact, she's not good at anything besides working on a boat. When she's reaped in the 74th games, she doesn't expect to develop land legs and survive.
