While Xehanort is exploring a World on the brink of Darkness, he finds two hearts that pique his interest. He leaves with a new apprentice, and a girl with a heart of pure light. This changes his plans to Kingdom Hearts considerably, resulting in a ripple effect that changes the fate of entire worlds. *Spoilers for Nier*

He meets A2 and decides to help her on her mission to destroy the machines, hoping she might be the answer to finding his way back home to his friends. However, when Sora gets wrapped up in the war between androids and machines, he realizes going back home might be harder than he thought.
