Chapter 4 – No Rest for the Wicked!
22:43, February 3, 2012, Fuyuki City, Singularity F Dungeon
"Yugi, do you know what I have found out today?"
What?
"I fucking love how easy Anti-Magic makes to kill Undead!"
Well, that doesn't surprise me.
Using Magic Negation – or Absolute Cancel as I renamed the skill – on a Skeleton Warrior, I watch as it drops into a pile of bones. One Anti-Magic Bomb takes out three Skeleton Archers on a balcony. A murder of Zombie Ravens then flies at me, but an Anti-Magic Shield turns all of them to ash as soon as they touch it.
[Absolute Cancel] (Active): The user can negate superhuman powers and effects that originate from magic. Spells, curses, hexes, jinxes, and charms may all be negated by the user. It has a maximum range of 5 meters. MP cost varies depending on the power of what the user wishes to negate (300 MP = 1 Level).
[Anti-Magic Bomb] (Active): MP cost varies. Creates a sphere of anti-magic that the user can throw. Once it hits something, the sphere will explode and deal burn, physical, and magical damage to magical beings and mages equal to the amount of MP used. Deals no damage to non-magical beings and non-mages. The range of the explosion depends on how much MP the user uses to create the bomb.
[Anti-Magic Shield] (Active): Project a shield of anti-magic that nullifies magical attacks. This skill costs 5 MP/second to maintain and nullifies magical damage equal to the amount of MP that you put into it.
As I've come to discover, Anti-Magic ignores the END stat of magical beings – or at least it does with Skeletons. Normally, damage dealt – from what I've found out with my INT – is calculated with ATK*(100/(100+END)). As I've previously said, however, Anti-Magic ignores the END stat of magical beings – and I'm pretty sure of mages too – so the real damage dealt is equal to the default damage of the skill.
Thing is, Anti-Magic also nullifies magic, the only thing keeping Undead from staying dead. So, you take that away and an Undead turns into a mere pile of bones – or ash, depending on how old the things are.
Happy with my test, I let my Summons deal with the mobs as we make our way to the Emiya Residence pointed out on my Map App. With my INT at 270 thanks to the Superhuman Intelligence perk, I can now have a total of fifty-four summons out. However, such a large group would make moving in a town, even if it is in a ruined one, difficult. As such, I kept my summons at thirty-six instead: fourteen Thunder Kids, fourteen Dust Devils, eight Jade Golems, and eight Charcoal Inpachis.
I have also decided to upgrade my Reinforce Summon skill and, given the choice between upgrading the duration of the skill, the power of the boost, and the number of Stats that can be reinforced, I went with the second option. In my opinion, the stronger the boost, the fewer times I will have to cast the skill for it to make a difference, and thus the more MP I save.
Reinforce Summon Upgrade Quest [Stronger Boost]
Objective: Reinforce 50 Summons of yours [0/50]
By the time we reach Shirou Emiya's home, I have gained one Stat Shard for STR, one for AGI, and one for LCK, and finished that upgrade quest, and the one for Homing Mana Arrows.
[Reinforce Summon (Active)]: Costs 40 MP/target. Boosts the STR, AGI, or END of the target by 20% for 1 minute.
[Homing Mana Arrow] (Active): Fires three arrows made of mana that will home in on your target. This skill costs 50 MP and each arrow deals 15 piercing and magical damage.

Class – Summoner – Level 18/50

LCK – 15
Every time I see the results of those traits, I get more determined to get rid of them. One cannot be weak in Marvel and those stupid traits are making me weaker than I already am.
Sighing in frustration, I look at the classic Japanese house about 500 meters in front of me from where I stand on the roof of a mostly intact house. I have something that I want to test out and a Shadow Servant is the best guinea pig for my experiment.
Using Skill Creation again, I combine my Homing Mana Bullet with my Anti-Magic and give it a spinning and exploding effect for added damage potential.
[Exploding Spinning Homing Anti-Magic Bullet (Active)]: Fires a spinning bullet made of anti-magic that will home in on your target and explode upon impact. This skill costs 150 MP and deals 300 points of piercing and anti-magical damage to magical beings and mages. Deals no damage to non-magical beings and non-mages.
"Hm, the name is too long and boring. Change it to… AMG Series: AP Shot."
Why that?
"It's an abbreviation for Anti-Magic Gun Series: Armor-Piercing Shot."
Ah, I see.
"Good. Now, to open up the playing field…"
[Caladbolg]!
Creating three spinning arrows of blue mana, I send them flying at the Emiya Residence. The projectiles strike true and the house explodes in a big ball of fire. Nonetheless, I keep my eyes peeled even though I'm surrounded by four Dust Devils, not wanting a repeat from when I faced Cursed Arm.
My carefulness is rewarded when someone bursts out of the cloud of smoke and ash created by my attack on the Emiya Residence. The blur goes through my Thunder Kids like a knife through butter but, like Medusa, it is incapable of killing my Dust Devils on the ground. Doing some quick mental math, I reinforce the agility of three of my Dust Devils twice, putting them at 144 AGI.
My reinforced Dust Devils become a blur to me as they lunge at the Shadow Servant. They are forced to stop momentarily to block the attacks of my Air Elementals and I take advantage of that to cast a quick Observe on them.

'Damn it. With an endurance that high, all my Dust Devils can do is stall her.' I'm really glad that I got Anti-Magic or taking Boudica out would have been a lot harder.
Gathering my mana and channeling it down my arm and to my right hand, I position my fingers into the gun motion – thumb, index, and middle finger fully extended, with the ring and little fingers curled into my palm. As the energy gathers on my middle finger, I keep it there as I aim with my index finger and wait for the right moment to fire. The said moment comes when Boudica jumps into the air to avoid the lightning bolts fired at her by my Thunder Kids.
Taking advantage of the fact that she can't move in midair, I unload the amount of Anti-Magic bullets that I calculated are enough to kill her – if the nullification of her magic doesn't immediately kill her that is.
[AMG Series: AP Shot]! X8
-1440 MP
MP: 3396/4860
Eight bullets of black-colored and blue-trimmed Anti-Magic soar through the sky one after the other, all of them homing in on the unprotected Shadow Servant in midair. Boudica notices the bullets coming and tries to block them with her shield. However, the bullets that do impact her shield go through it like a hot knife through butter since, for all that it is a physical shield, it is one formed out of mana. All eight bullets hit Boudica one after the other and, after the last one hits her, she disperses into pixels.
'Hm, the fact that she didn't die after the first one hit must mean that, unlike Undead, Servants don't die even when their magic is negated.'
This makes my happiness at killing another mini-boss diminish a bit, but I nonetheless grin as Yugi shows me my rewards.
You have leveled up!

For defeating Shadow Servant Rider Boudica, you have gained a new item!
[Sword of Boudica]: Queen Boudica's one-handed sword, said to be "crowned with the name of 'victory'" like Boudica herself. This sword deals STR+50 points of physical damage and is capable of shooting a small mana projectile that costs 100 MP and deals 100 magical damage. Said projectiles can also be fired repeatedly for an additional 25 MP/second. While holding this sword, the wielder's LCK will increase by 10%.
Looking down at the ruins of the Emiya Residence, I notice a golden chest in front of the gates. Creating some mana platforms, I get down there and open the chest after sending my Dust Devils and Thunder Kids to loot the ruins. Inside the chest, I find two Stat Shards for END, one for DEX, and one for LCK. I also find a Saint Quartz and a small crystal in the shape of a heart.
[Small Heart Crystal]
Effect: Increases target's Affection by 5. Only works on those below 50 Affection.
"Hm, Yugi, can you show me an Affection Chart or something?"
Affection Chart (Females)
- Anna Watson – 10
- Mary Jane Watson – 10
- May Parker – 10

Affection Chart (Males)

"Hm, you know, I think I'm going to hold on to this Small Heart Crystal until I have a few more."
With that decision made, I use the Stat Shards and then roll the Gacha while holding Boudica's sword. Ten percent could be the difference between a poor roll and a good roll.

A new skill has been created!
[Tactile Selective Apparition] (Active): Teleports an object or being of the user's choice away from them as long as the user is touching the said object or being. Costs 1 MP/meter jumped.
My Summons then come back with three bronze chests and I quickly open them.

Due to lacking the necessary skill, summoning Elemental HERO Bladedge is impossible at the moment.
Summoning Relic Acquired!
Due to lacking the necessary skill, summoning Destiny HERO Diamond Dude is impossible at the moment.
New Item Acquired!
[Tora-Shinai]: A cursed Japanese wooden sword that inflicts upon the wielder a thirst for blood. While holding this sword, the wielder gains 5 STR and DEX but loses 3 WIS and INT. This sword also deals STR+5 blunt damage.
"Damn, more Summons that I cannot summon! Yugi, when will I be able to summon these guys?"
You need to have a special Class to get the necessary skill. And before you ask, that special Class can only be acquired once you become the ruler of a territory.
"Damn, becoming a ruler is in my plans, but I need more power before going for that."
"Anyway, where can I go next? I really don't want to risk facing EMIYA at Tohsaka's house, at least not yet."
You still have the other side of Fuyuki City to explore, you know.
"Oh, right! Fuyuki is split down the middle by a river. If I'm not mistaken, East Fuyuki is called Shinto, right?"
Correct.
"Well, let's check it out then."
"No, wait! I think it is better that I try that Horde Dungeon first. That way I can upgrade more of my skills and level up some more."
[ID Escape]!
23:09, February 3, 2012, Horde Dungeon Mode Arena
Entering the only Horde Dungeon available to me, the [Robot Horde], I find myself in an arena. Standing in the middle of the battlefield, I take a look around. The place looks like a coliseum from the time of the gladiators. There's even a crowd made of NPCs on the stands.
The battlefield is sandy ground with walls surrounding it in a circle. No entrances, so I guess my opponents will spawn directly into the field.
Speaking of the devil, a magic circle appears a few meters in front of me, and from it comes some kind of robot. Its body is humanoid in shape and a metallic dark-gray in color, with red highlights on certain parts of its body, particularly its face and chest plate.

"Huh, isn't that one of the robots from RWBY?"
Yes. TM11 thought it would be appropriate.
"I can see why. Well, since it's just one, I might as well solo-"
The AK-130 dashes at me with a burst of speed before I can finish my thought, its hands switching into blades. It swings at my head with its right blade and I barely create a Mana Shield with my left hand to block the swing. Aiming with my right hand, I fire a Mana Bullet right at the AK's head. It moves his head to the side, avoiding my projectile, and then spartan kicks my shield. My shield holds thanks to me having spent 400 MP on it, but the attack nonetheless ships away at its endurance. Thankfully, the 5 MP/s that I spend keeping the shield up heals it up a bit.
'Shit,' I keep my shield up, blocking slash after slash from the AK. 'I can't face this thing like a Gryffindor yet. Gotta go with the Slytherin route.'
The Atlesian Knight seems to get a clue and runs around me to get behind me. Turning my head around, I look over my, and its shoulder…
[Apparition]!
Disappearing with a twist, the AK's swords miss my back by inches. Reappearing back-to-back with the robot, I fully turn around and raise my arm, aiming at the back of its head.
[Mana Bullet]! A single bullet of blue magical energy pierces through the back of the AK's head.
Critical Hit!
150*3 = 450 damage
450*(100/(100+50))= 300 damage
Atlesian Knight-130 – 200/500 HP
[Mana Bullet]! A second bullet follows after the first, finally killing the automaton.
'As Columbus says, always make sure to double tap.'
Atlesian Knight-130 has been defeated!
+100 EXP!
'Hm, that's twice the same EXP I get from a Skeleton Knight.'
As the AK-130 disappears in motes of light, two more appear a few meters in front of me from magic circles. One changes its arms into blades like the first AK, but the other changes its arms into guns. The Gunner immediately opens fire on me, making me raise my Mana Shield again to block its bullets. Meanwhile, the Saber moves to flank me from my left.
'Shit! I can't deal with two at the same time!'
[Summon Elemental: Charcoal Inpachi]!
At my call, a Charcoal Inpachi manifests in front of me, right in time to block AK-Saber's attack.
Charcoal Inpachi's END = 200
AK-Saber's Attack = 50+20 = 70
Thanks to my Inpachi's END being so much higher than the damage of AK-Saber's attack, my Summon barely takes any damage. And, with its STR being at 100 and its AGI at 50, once it brings its fist down on AK-Saber, the automaton doesn't react fast enough to avoid taking damage, which ends up being 100 points out of its HP.
With my Inpachi's appearance, the AK-Gunner changes targets from me to him. Taking advantage of that, I repeat the same trick from before and apparate behind the AK-Gunner. Two Mana Shots to the back of its head and it is dead.
Looking at how my Inpachi is keeping up with the AK-Saber, who is barely able to avoid my Summon's attacks without taking at least some damage, I decided to try something new. Casting Mana Bomb, a sphere of blue mana the size of a basketball appears in my hand. Using Tactile Selective Apparition on the Mana Bomb, I teleport it right to AK-Saber's left.
*BOOM*
My Mana Bomb explodes and deals 200 points of damage to the automaton. Thankfully, my Inpachi's END is big enough to tank a hit like that, but AK-Saber is not. As the smoke clears, I see that the automaton was sent flying some five meters away from my Inpachi. A closer observation shows that it lost its left arm and leg.
"Finish it, Inpachi," I order my Fire Elemental. It obeys and walks closer to the Atlesian Knight. The automaton changes its arm-blade to an arm-gun and fires at my Inpachi. The bullets prove useless though, and the Fire Elemental easily squashes the automaton's head.
+100 EXP
+100 EXP
I smile at my EXP as the destroyed AK-130s fade away and are replaced with four. Grinning, I summon two more Charcoal Inpachis.
"Let's dance!"

A new skill has been created!
[Bonded Apparition] (Active): This skill costs 500 MP. The Summoner can teleport to their Summon's side, no matter the distance between them.
'Worth it indeed,' I think as I watch my Medusa Worm smash through several AK-200s to strike at one Paladin from my position up in the air on top of a Mana Platform. With the stats of the Paladins, I had no choice but to have Medusa Worm debut. Even then, I had to reinforce its STR many times for it to make any damage to the Paladins. Quite frankly, I regret not summoning Medusa Worm earlier in Fuyuki. Things would have gone far faster if I had.
From my position above the battlefield, I bombard a group of five AK-200s with Mana Bomb, allowing two of my Jade Golems to finish them off. Spotting a Paladin trying to save its twin from the grip of my Worm, I headshot it with the normal version of my AMG: AP Shot – MG: AP Shot. Another Paladin fires its machine gun at me and I quickly pull up a shield to block the bullets. A Charcoal Inpachi quickly comes to my aid and charges the Paladin, diverting its fire from me. With my Elemental distracting it, I create more platforms and jump from one to another until I'm closer to the two fighting behemoths. My Inpachi doesn't have the STR needed to really harm the Paladin, but the distraction it is causing is more than enough. Several headshots later, the huge automaton is down for the count.
'That's three Paladins down.' A look around the arena shows me that about a dozen AK-200s and the last Paladin are the only enemies left. I started this round with fifteen Jade Golems and fifteen Charcoal Inpachis out and have only lost four of my Elementals. Seeing my Medusa Worm fighting the last Paladin, I quickly recast Reinforce Summon on it since its boosts are about to run out.
A few minutes later, the thirty-two enemies of the 6th round of Level 2 of the Robot Horde Dungeon have all been killed. Taking their place appear fifty-six AK-200s and eight Paladins. As the 7th round starts, only one thing goes through my mind.
"Damn!"

Now feeling more confident, I quickly order my offensive Charcoal Inpachis to face off against Darius while my Dust Devils and Shadow Ragers are told to distract the Shadow Berserker and make some openings for the Inpachis.
As Darius comes closer, he collides with one of my Inpachis head first. The Shadow Berserker swings one of his axes down in an attempt to chop down my Elemental. My Inpachi, however, blocks the hit with one arm, which is cut off. Undeterred, the Fire Elemental then punches the Shadow Berserker in the face with its other arm, however, Darius' END is three times my Inpachi's STR, so he barely takes damage.
Much like with Boudica, while my Summons surround Darius and hold his attention, I prepare the skill that will kill the Shadow Berserker. With Skill Creation, I combine my newly upgraded Caladbolg with Anti-Magic and Homing Mana Arrows. The result is just like I imagined.
[Anti-Magic Caladbolg] (Active): Costs 970 MP. Creates nine spinning arrows made of anti-magic that home in on your target once fired and explode upon impact. Each arrow deals 200 points of piercing damage, plus 100 points of burn, physical, and magical damage.

As you wish.
Once Yugi changes the name, I wait for an opening for me to target Darius cleanly. I get that opening when Darius spins like a top as he swings his axes, making my Summons step away from him.

My Shadow Ragers quickly disperse to go follow my orders. Grabbing the Saint Quartz from the golden chest, I pull the Sword of Boudica for the LCK bonus and roll the Gacha.
You have gained a new Item!
[Almighty Five Sights: Spectator]: A Support-type Teigu in the form of a headpiece with a large eye attached to it. This Teigu allows the wielder to use five different abilities related to sight: Insight, Farsight, Clearsight, Foresight, and Illusion Sight. Insight allows the user to read an opponent's mind; Farsight allows the user to see things clearly no matter the conditions and gives them long-ranged vision; Clearsight gives the user X-ray vision; Foresight allows the user to see the smallest muscle movements and so predict an opponent's next move, and Illusion Sight casts an illusion that brings the target to their most precious person and shows them before their eyes.
Seeing what I won, I can't help the shout that comes out of my mouth.
"JACKPOT!"
And that's it. Apologies for the year-long hiatus. Got lazy and procrastinated a lot. At least this time allowed me to go over the plans I have for this story and change them a bit.
Btw, I'm going to try to get an account on Pat-reon. I know my work doesn't compare to that of others more deserving, but if you have a dollar around and feel like donating, I'd be very grateful.
I'll also be posting my stories there, but one chapter ahead of the version here. So, if I have the account by the time I post chapter 5 here, chapter 6 will already be up on Pat-reon for those that donate.
